Osborne laying into May on ITV

This is also a rejection of Osborne's austerity too. Clearly Corbyn capitalised on that, we needed in retrospect George to get the finances balanced as he promised by the end of 2015

Conservatives are utterly screwed in the event of the need for a second election. They would have no viable strategy without giving up huge numbers of recently converted voters needing to row back in pursuit of all the ones they've lost. We could be looking at a Labour landslide in 6 months.

In some ways this campaign couldn't have gone worse for Jeremy Corbyn and his allies within the Labour party. He was forced by events to fight on what was considered to be his weakest area, national security and defence.

The right-wing tabloids threw everything they had at them, especially in the last two days.

And, yet, he's coming out ahead.

My view it's because he offered hope for a better future, whereas the Tories could only promise 5 years of more of the same.

I've said this before, but I'm far from convinced he ever wanted the job. I reckon he saw Brown and Blair's relationship and decided that a good cop, bad cop relationship between PM and chancellor was better. Brown went far too generous in his attempt to become PM. Osborne played the nasty role and to some extent defended Cameron, knowing that 'austerity' would forever mark him.

Not that he wouldn't have taken the job if he'd been offered it, but I doubt he was manoeuvring for it.

The Conservative Party made a major error. Brexit has always been a JOURNEY. The best thing for the country was for us to take back, over the next decade, ever greater amounts of power.

This way we could have completely removed the "money" issue, as we'd pay in during the transition but not take out. We'd be able to negotiate new trade deals.

    Gah.

I'm not sure that you're being strong enough. The next GE will return a similar result.

    Philip Davies losing in Shipley:)

I'm actually surprised Philip Davies isn't on RCS's List of Tories He'd Rather See Lose. There must be some Tory modernisers, particularly women, who would rather like to see the back of him.

I still don't see any route from here to a Corbyn premiership.

    Thank fuck.

Tory NOM, Boris, Faron or Hammond, as PM, a rethink on Hard Brexit, a new election in October.

Yes, I think we're looking at 330 seats, but May is done. Literally fucking done.
Seems like you are not happy !
I'll be happy if we get to 320 seats by tomorrow morning and Theresa May is gone by Monday, plus an EEA/EFTA Brexit. Would be the ideal result for me personally because I don't think hard Brexit is optimal.
To be honest, Max, it wouldn't surprised me if Brexit is kicked into the long grass now. All the EU27 have to do is vote unanimously to extend the A50 period indefinitely, or for 5-10 years, and do a new treaty with the UK, perhaps generously putting Dave's deal back on the table again.
Then I and millions like me will be back to voting UKIP again.

    Gah.
    EFTA. But who knows?

Everything looks like toast now. So frustrating.
