Corbyn has been clear on Brexit. As Laura K pointed out why should it be assumed Ukip voters would all go Tory? You've got a perfectly good Eurosceptic in Corbyn. Combined with the Russell Brand/Lily Allen vote it's quite powerful.

Corbyn would Brexit it in a heartbeat... But the PLP won't stand for it... And nor would the SNP, Lib-Dems etc. who will be supporting his government.

So, I say again, Brexit is clearly finished! In fact the upshot of all of this may be that we finish up far more "integrated" with the Euro, etc in the next few years,.

If Corbyn becomes PM, even of a minority, then he's a dictator. He's seen off opposition both intra- and extra- his party. He's the boss.

Well done to him. A relatively brilliant campaign.

And a dictator in the country too, where the Corbynistas will stamp out any dissent.

Shy Tories? We have seen just the start of that.....

I wonder what the SNP will seek for supporting a minority Labour administration.

It's a bit of a quandary for them. Presumably they've had a bad night which means independence looks further away, but as you suggest, the possibility of going for it again might be there. Or do they just ask for more money?

The LDs won't C&S Hammond to push Brexit through. Indeed they won't really want any deal with the Tories at all.
Indeed, it's why hard Brexit is dead. I think we'll end up with a second referendum with EEA/EFTA vs hard Brexit as part of the compromise for LD support on the Brexit deal.
I think there's some heavy over-estimation of willingness for almost any sort of co-operation amongst the LD membership and MP's, with any Tory-led Brexit process.

    That ship has sailed.

No, this was an anti austerity vote, not an anti Brexit vote, soft Brexit maybe
Except Cameron was able to win in 2015 after 5 years of austerity. Indeed he made a virtue of sound money.

Because May talked only about Brexit. She took Tory voters for granted.

And the 18-24 year olds turned out.

Where is Martin Boon now ?
austerity takes time to show, NHS was one of the biggest issue for a reason. And May said zilch on it. I have relatives who in it. It is in crisis. It is much worse then it has been for a long time. Cameron at least campaigned on it.

I've lost on the markets (though I've cut my losses on the Tory Majority bet on Betfair) but I'm delighted with what's transpiring.

Jeremy Corbyn, the only politician in my lifetime who I've been able to believe in, proving all his detractors wrong, overcoming all that the right-wing media were able to throw at him, and pulling a result out of the bag that I don't think anyone really dared believe possible just a day ago.

Social libertarian and left-wing economically, my ideal combination. I'm not going to be getting much sleep tonight!

Yes, calling the general election hasn't solved May's Brexit problem but it has killed off the resurging Scottish Independence campaign. But Brexit is bad for the Tories so it's bad for Ruth Davidson. Therefore the SNP will start to claw its way back over the next two years.

It's interesting that Corbyn's lukewarm stance against Brexit was seen as a big mistake compared with the LibDem commitment to a second referendum, but the subtler approach proved more popular.
