    I suspect Tugendhat's real goal is a seat in the cabinet - Defence, Foreign Affairs, or possibly the Treasury.

    He clearly isn't suited to the last based on that answer, but whoever wins he's doing no harm to his chances of getting one of the first two.

    Especially with Truss imploding.

    Sunak doing much better here. He's giving it pretty straight. If only he was like this all the time.

    He is coming across as by far the best. Although KB and TT have had their moments.

    I mean, that's a bit like saying somebody is the least stupid person at the DfE. In this field, he always was the best candidate. But as @Big_G_NorthWales has been constantly saying, he also looks like an improvement on the current encumbrance, which is important.
