Sinn Fein gain Foyle. Perhaps a sympathy vote to the memory of Martin McGuinness who used to be the SF candidate there for many elections.
Middle-class Catholics / Nationalists are just sick of the endless scowling from Arlene Foster's unionism. The SDLP couldn't satisfy that demand and keep unionist tactical votes, it looks like they lost a bit of both.
Thats balls, Sinn Fein were always going to do this, they've been wearing the SDLP down in Derry for near 8 years now., long before Arlene was on the scene.
I thought they'd do it in 2015. I was two years out.
Nah, was no more inevitable than UUP wipe out or UUP recovery, i.e. it wasn't. There is a clear change in the mood all over the two islands, you can't keep calling Catholics reptiles and expect infinite cheek-turning.
You clearly no nothing about Foyle..look at the counts over the last 8 years. Sinn Fein have been rising and rising.
I'm sorry Nick. You didn't deserve to lose. Sometimes doing the right thing doesn't pay.
True. He did the right thing for the Country, and the wrong thing for his Party.
Corbyn's campaign by contrast seems to have done the right thing for his party but would be the wrong thing for his country, hopefully we will still keep him out

Part of me wonders if Corbyn and co might not prefer to fall slightly short, as they've galvanized the youth vote, but no way they could deliver on all they promised.
Hopefully Con will see what he's done and offer some things to the youth vote in the coming GE.
I SHALL SPELL IT OUT IN ALL CAPS FOR CCHQ. GRADUATE TAX, IT'S "FAIR" AND IT CAN BRING IN MORE MONEY.
Why is it fairer? You can never pay it off, but if you move aboard you can avoid it entirely.
I've never lived in a marginal seat. Grew up in rural Norfolk, Lived in Llanelli, Leicester, Preston and Derby (south). It'd be good to move somewhere where my vote actually counted
Never forgave him after the Lib Dems offered an in/out referendum then he decided that such a thing was an abomination when it actually became democratically possible.
Liberal DEMOCRATS??
Fuck off, old boy. Fuck off.
And perhaps the same should be said for you. Do you actually have a position on anything, aside from who can give you an (viagra assisted) erection ?
I hope you, like Scrooge McDuck, enjoy your pile of money.
You seem oddly discombobulated. I am drinking Amarone on a starlit balcony in Rome. I love Europe. Cheer up.
Nah. I'm enjoying this for tonight. But you must admit that you're insulated from this, as your comment shows.
Clegg was propped up in 2015 by Conservative tactical voters who preferred to continue the Lib-Con coalition than risk a Miliband victory. They've all gone home and Clegg has had the rug pulled out from under him.
It's a shame because he seems to be a good guy who is in politics for the right reasons, and not afraid to tell it straight about the Brexit catastrophe.
If Norman Lamb loses, that will be all the good Lib Dem coalition ministers gone.
LDs may do relatively well in seat terms but they have been reduced to a Tactically Voted Scottish Unionist Party based on results so far. No future for them if this is the seat distribution.
@ZoraSuleman: Reported if Theresa May doesn't get a majority she will step down ... it depends by how much ... if not a large margin she'll stay for a bit

She's holed below the waterline whatever now. Would be best for her if she just shuffled off quietly and quickly now.

He might be a LD MP - but not a positive one.
Why am I going all Lib Dem? Could it be the Conservatives have gone all non-conservative?
Boo.
Anyone who wants Hard Brexit now is an effing idiot.
Sorry, but there it is.
I'd ban overseas purchase of new houses, too.
Wirral South at 7/1 as well.

Not to mention his highly irritating delivery.
But you're going abroad, so what do you care?

Yes it would be unending, but for whatever reason a lot of people seem to think loan = bad, tax = good. So give it to them, and collect more money.
Labour hold
I think the Tories will surely will hold both.
