Most of the Welsh councils are counting overnight.
Here is the BBC live thread with some early coverage of some of the key battles to look out for tonight:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-wales-politics-39721454
I'll be looking for evidence of how the four NE Wales seats may turn in 5 weeks time, which we should have by 3am.0 -
I have spoken to a few people locally who I know voted in the referendum having not voted for donkey's years, if ever, and asked them about the GE. None of them said they would be voting. "What's the point the Tories always get in round here", pretty much sums up their feelings towards elections.Disraeli said:Presumably a lot of those people who had not voted in years, but voted in the referendum last year, have gone back to non voting.
Or do you think that they might have gotten a taste for it?
Straws in the wind, of course, and maybe in less safe territory some long-term non-voters may turn out for the GE.0 -
I've done it, I was thinking to myself " must not vote for party x, must not vote for party x" then I voted for them I think because out of habit and I over thought it...asked for another ballot paper and they gave me one. Is that allowed?tyson said:

Hall Green - Tory candidate has been kick out of the Tory Party due to anti Semitic tweets that were discovered after nominations closed. Labour's original candidate was also barred from standing for similar concerns, but in time to be replaced by someone from another part of Birmingham, which matters in this area, and also has meant that many local activists haven't been willing to help. We Lib Dems have delivered a leaflet a week since the early march announcement of this by election.0

Leigh. People there hate being in Greater Manchester. There was a wonderful vox pop after Brexit in Leigh where some old bloke playing crown green bowls went off on one about how it wasn't right that people couldn't take control of their own affairs. The interviewer thought it was an EU issue. Turned out he was complaining still about Leigh falling under Wigan metro since 1974 and wanted Leigh Town Hall back so they weren't ruled by Wiganers!TheScreamingEagles said:

RLB is really shouty and annoying. How did anyone ever tip her for leader?0 -
SHOUTY women for Labour on QT - Wigan audience roundly boo Sturgeon.0

Sheffield changed its ward boundaries in 2015 but the old Southey wards used to chalk up 75% of the vote for Labour in local elections. That score above looks like low 40s%?Chameleon said:

I'd love Burnham to lose Manchester....he was the careerist twat that put his personal self interest ahead of anything in the summer putsch last year. Twat....oh yes, I said that.....Chameleon said:
Worse than that in my opinion. If Burnham does not win Manchester then we're looking at Labour losing a majority of its' seats.AndyJS said:
Labour defeat in GM would be on a par with losing more than 100 seats at the GE.Scott_P said:

It'd be a hell of a fall if Durham were not Lab overall control, I'm not surprised they think that one is doable!Chameleon said:Apparently: 'the party's own polling suggests they will retain overall control of just one council - Durham - and they are unlikely to be largest party in Nottinghamshire or Lancashire.' As you said earlier, almost a fifth of Labour seats up for grabs this year are in Durham!kle4 said:

I'm guessing this is in Blunkett's former constituency where there have been various problems that have helped UKIP recently.Chameleon said:

Then that looks like a net UKIP to LD swing, interesting. (Probably Con voters going LD and UKIP to Con).Pulpstar said:

Another old chestnut gets resurrected. Politicians love FPTP when they are winning. When they are getting hammered then suddenly it is time for PR
Maybe TSE could do us an AV thread?
