The LDs have surged in Remainiac London but, as I forecast, have fallen just short almost everywhere. The only wildcard (which I admit I didn't forecast) is Finchley & Golders Green, which I assumed would be a comfortable Tory hold, but is apparently extremely close.
I do hope Luciana wins. 🤞
As Kate Whatsit says on Sky, if she wins she could be in poll position for the LD leadership.
The LDs could do a lot worse than Luciana. Intelligent, articulate, not obviously bat shit crazy.
Sturgeon seems strangely chipper on the night of a big Tory majority.
Her goal of Scottish independence has got a lot closer.
SNP still likely to get fewer MPs than 2015
You are holding the SNP to an unrealistic benchmark though, it's clearly a stunning result for them. Independence isn't going back in the box anytime soon.
No but Boris with a thumping majority will deliver his manifesto promise to block indyref2, SNP still under 50% of the vote
The promise to block indyref2 is clearly like the promise not to have an Irish Sea customs border.
The majority of Tory MPs will force Boris to block indyref2
I know it’s the middle of the night but it feels like Momentum have deserted twitter. Hopefully they don’t come back. Wonder if we’ll see Horse Battery again...

If there ever is another Scottish referendum it will follow Sturgeon's Brexit recommendation. First referendum on whether to leave or not & a second after the deal is known.
Amazing result.for Sturgeon, 5 years of grievance against the Tories to build off
She was whinging yesterday, she will whinge tomorrow, plus ca change
And people who don't live in Scotland, who don't have a vote in Scotland and who have no influence in Scotland will whinge about her. Plus ça change indeed.
ITV coverage is winning hands down for me. George and Ed superb. Other guests top qualuty too. Less spinning and more analysis than on BBC and Sky. Would like them to spend a bit more time on the numbers, but that's just me.

I have to say I like the "honesty" of Osborne and Balls. They are telling it like they see it.

LOL - There's plenty to whine about about Nippy. It would be racist to suggest the sassenachs can't join in.
Do Labour not think this "the evil Tories, what about the homeless yadda yadda yadda"...basically you are telling voters you were wrong, you are heartless for voting for the other team.
I think a lot of hard working Northeners will be sitting there, going what about me you Southern tw@t. I work hard and I want to Leave the EU, and all I get from you is I'm a thick racist.

Blair won on slogans like "tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime" and "education, education, education".

Bland slogans, anyone could have won in 1997. Who could have won in 1987 is the more propper question ?

Corbyn and McDonnell wouldn't have won in 1997.
Against Major after the post 1992 mess ? They almost beat May under better conditions for the Consevatives. They could have beaten May in an election now, although they could still have lost to some other party.

In 1997 many more people had memories of the 1970s. That's why it took someone like Blair to seal the deal. I'd say 2017 was the perfect storm for Corbyn and McDonnell.

Congratulations to the Tories on here. Let’s hope Boris uses his majority wisely.
And congratulations too to @rcs1000 whose prediction for the Tory majority seems to have been pretty bang on.
I hope Luciana wins in Finchley.
Goodnight all.
