That maybe the best way of stopping the religious fanatics who commit atrocities. I have no understanding of the religion but does it leave the dead suicide bombers soul in limbo? I suppose if you were a believer it could be a barrier to doing something nasty.
After each attack we are told "they're not true muslims" so surely it doesn't matter what is done?
By the way, here is more Enoch & Buckley. No talk of immigration here, just a beautiful deconstruction of the prices and incomes policy, the perils of socialism and the moral conundrum of standing for parliament when you don't agree with the party line
Have they asked him about Homosexual acts yet? In the good old days one of the other political parties would have sent a person dressed as a chicken with a ghetoblaster pounding out "it's a sin!". I suppose the best we can hope for now is Andrew Neil on this week taking the piss!
Awww Peter Sallis. Aside from Wallace he was also good in the original Ice Warriors story in Doctor Who with Patrick Troughton.
His was one of the finest and cleverest guest performances in Doctor Who history, in my opinion.
Usually the guest actors were a little....average (I'm looking at you Beryl Reid) but he had a strong voice and presence, it gave Troughton something to work with in what is a good (if overlong) story.
Completely OT: I have accidentally scratched the wall in my hallway- the paint has come off. Just a small scratch. Any DIY advice? I don't have any paint sample pots. Colour is magnolia. Maybe smear some toothpaste?? Help.
Well, can't be any more boring than my usual posts.....
I once listened to this song about 50 times in a row, without a break. It's that good.
Gosh, that is very good. I'd quite forgotten it.
I reckon pop song writing is (ahem) a bit like thriller writing. People sneer at it (especially if it is popular) because it appears cheap and ubiquitous - sold in supermarkets like detergent. In reality, it is very difficult and few can do it well, hence the huge rewards if you get it right - as the Bee Gees clearly did.
Here's another forsaken classic. In my mind the greatest song about male lovesickness and romantic rejection ever written

IIRC the received wisdom was it was around £12k for the one targetting Farron.

I forgot to say Farron has had a lot of media exposure today then, if he has been on the English QT and the Scottish program. Possibly the most coverage of the election other than the manifesto launch.

So whilst trying to puzzle what the runes are saying about the South of Scotland I was reminded of the great oddity of the Scottish independence referendum which was the ComRes IndyRef poll done for Border TV which covered just Dumfries & Galloway and The Borders.
What I would give for a Borders TV poll right now. Interestingly that must have been the only political poll in existence where 10/10 certainty to vote under-reported by a massive 22%

Only watched the first ten minutes, but a fairly compelling speaker.
Coldplay fan who also saw them at Wembley.. easily the most impressive show I've ever seen. How many bands can play over twenty songs at a concert?
Hmm. I think it is a generational thing. I saw your posting and my first thought was if I saw a band that played less than 20 songs I would feel cheated. But most of the bands I watch have been around for decades. Of those I have seen in the last couple of years
Springsteen regularly does 30 plus songs - 33 when I saw him at Coventry last year Fleetwood Mac did 23 at Leeds in 2015 The Eagles did 27 at Leeds the year before ELO did 20 at Nottingham
Even the young upstarts Suede did 27 at Leeds last year.
I saw Paul Simon play for almost four hours a few years ago. I didn't count how many songs he sung, but it was a lot.
I remember going to see Lenny Kravitz Just after the 7/7 bombings and he was on stage for around 3 hours, some of which was just him and his band jamming and doing covers of songs about togetherness and love. It is one of the best gigs I've been to.
Aren't Grateful Dead the winners of this competition, every time?
Coz they were all on heroin. Not hard to play for 19 hours if you're totally smacked out (as I can personally attest)
Surely the question should be: how many good or great songs can you play, i.e. how brilliant is your back catalogue? Most pop stars can only claim one or two famous songs (if they write themselves).
The acts in a different league can claim a dozen, even two dozen: the Beatles, the Stones, Led Zep, Simon and Garfunkel, Bob Dylan, Elton John, Genesis, the Smiths, Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, the Bee Gees, Abba, the entire Stone Roses first album (and nothing since)
I struggle to name bands post 1985 because I genuinely think pop music has declined since then, the way Italian painting declined post-Raphael, or English verse drama after Shakespeare.
There was a golden age of popular music, and it was 1965-1985, maybe 1990 at a push. Art forms are born, they thrive, and then they kind of die - or evolve dramatically into something different.
Kasabian are the best stadium band, or festival headliners at the moment. They are great live and know how to put on a show. They are headlining at Reading this August. Worth taking in. I have seen them 4 times, and they too are well known Leicester City Fans. They did a free concert for us on Vicky Park a year ago.
For the best song about breakup, I would nominate Husker Du's "Don't want to know if you are lonely"
Please could someone answer this - My local paper today(bradford T&A) had a political front sheet cover for labour, how much would this cost the labour party ?
The Bristol Post also had Labour wrap around front sheet today. Labour were banging on about how awful it was for the Tories to do this about 3 weeks ago.
I share the gut feelings of those who think that this was always the Tories of it has swung back to them as it got a bit more serious. I started off with a majority of about 120, came down to 80 and am now moving back over 100. Despite May's best efforts she is going to win and win fairly big. But it was never a fair fight.
Please could someone answer this - My local paper today(bradford T&A) had a political front sheet cover for labour, how much would this cost the labour party ?
£10 to £15 grand.
Even for a big city local paper ?
With the greatest of respect, Bradford isn't that big a city in terms of local newspaper circulation.is quite small, with a circulation of 15k, which is small compared to say Leeds or Manchester,

Bradford wouldn't be in the top 20 cities in England
Corbyn was in Gateshead today, 3 days before the election, Labour majority 14,000 and not even in the top 100 Tory target seats and got a 10,000 turnout. Hooray! Meanwhile May was in Scotland targeting marginal seats held by the SNP. Surge or no surge I have never seen a general election campaign as strategically inept as this Labour campaign, Blair and Mandelson must have their heads in their hands!
May was in an invitation only meeting with activists in a warehouse specialising in office storage. perhaps she has a plan for Mayexit? Is packing tea-chests a boy or girl job?
She was at a rally in Scotland in a marginal seat then went to a factory in Berwickshire meeting voters who might be won over from the SNP, not one voter who attended that Corbyn rally in a safe Labour seat will not already be voting for him
Not one voter that attended Tessy's secret squirrel Scottish outings will not already be voting for her. Though I have to assume that wifie who said no thanks to Tessy's piss poor canvassing definitely won't be.
Chris Morris's Jam was a great sketch show too. Sometimes you wonder if political parties staff their front benches from the thick people employment agency:

Murnaghan was brilliant and very cruel. Excellent.
Didn't he go something like 'Because of all this I've been rereading this report, and I'm sure you have to'? Which is more subtle opening gambit when laying a trap than most.

No, no, no. There are lots of different versions of magnolia. If you don't know which one you have, get a flake of paint and get it colour-matched at your local d-i-y store. Probably cost around £20 for the smallest sized pot. You can probably just paint a couple of coats over the damaged part with a roller. Make sure the wall is prepped (i.e. lightly sanded and painted over with a base coat of diluted paint) before you start so it doesn't flake off again.

I'd be amazed if the Tories were targeting any of the Bradford seats.
There's a few more plausible targets for them close by.
Though I've given up any hope of the Tories taking Batley and Spen.
By the way, here is more Enoch & Buckley. No talk of immigration here, just a beautiful deconstruction of the prices and incomes policy, the perils of socialism and the moral conundrum of standing for parliament when you don't agree with the party line
What I love about this is there is *no* embellishing: it's just one hour of very serious conversation, with a proper interviewer asking penetrating questions.
Nothing else.
In modern times, the interviewer would only be interested in forcing a gaffe, embarrassing the subject, or outing them as a bigot. The politician would want to avoid the questions, and get their soundbites across.

Rumour that mary creagh will hold on in Wakefield but that was based on canvass returns last week according to wakefield express despite voting against article 50.
I see the actor Mark Ruffalo, not even a Brit, has endorsed Corbyn
Because @jeremycorbyn offers people an alternative to the Corporate status quo, which never ends well for them, I humbly endorse Corbyn.
I really like him as an actor, but that is such a twatty way of putting an endorsement, and there are no shortage of examples. 'Humbly' endorse, my arse. And no, celebs going 'anyone who votes for Corbyn is a fool' would not be much better, but at least is less twatty.
Judging by the QT audience* and Nicola's look of fear, I think my forecast of 40 SNP holds may be a bit optomistic.

Unconfirmed report that 1000's of PVs gone missing in the SW of England (as has mine and my daughters boyfriens) councils asking for people to report it to eliminate the possibility of fraud. Whilst mine is in yeovil major concern is Plymouth. As I said unconfirmed source seeking confirmation. They need to know to check if the vote has been used in the event of a challenge to the result and was not submitted by the person entitled, but difficult to do as you would have to forge a signature, more likely a problem in the postal distribution system.
Sorry to interrupt, anyone know where the politics forum has gone?
People are taking a break in order to have the partisan energy to go into the last days of the GE- like politicians being up for 2 days straight, you need to prepare for a marathon session like that.
Me, I'm listening to some Simon and Garfunkel - very relaxing.

I've heard Corbyn speak, and he can be pretty good, although often his content is blander and more cliche than I'd have expected- why do people turn up in their thousands and thousands to hear it? I'd rather catch the clips of a speech from someone I supported than watch it live, unless it was truly groundbreaking, and most of his stuff has been said a thousand times.
Murnaghan was brilliant and very cruel. Excellent.

It was bordering on cruel but if she wasn't such a lying bitch who has absolutely no knowledge of her cabinet position or portfolio it wouldn't have worked.

Erm... I am not sure! I did say that it's true. Thinking about it, I cant see it happening really
All this talk of Buckley and Powell makes me nostalgic for Brian Walden and Weekend world - we criticise pols for being shadows of former years' but nobody today even the sainted A Neill can do the job that Walden used to - as for politicians Powell and Foot sparring over opinion polls and the EC makes me embarrassed for our current crop

The first is definitely superior. It's classic sketch after classic sketch. Brilliant.
The second is much patchier, but there are still total gems. Deffo worth buying or downloading.
It's one of those shows that you think you own but....you don't. I shall rectify.

To me, as a many times LibDem voter, after Ashdown, Kennedy and Clegg, even Campbell, Tim Farron has proved to be an utter, utter disappointment.
