Hillary attacking the FBI and US law enforcement was irresponsible. I hoped it wouldn't push the mentally disturbed over the edge but I fear it has. Ghastly.

    That's a classic!

The only improvement I'd make is to write "Their is not any country in the Europeon Union called Hellas?" instead of "There". Still, you've got to hand it to the author for making one spelling mistake in each sentence as well as combining cockiness with mindblowing ignorance.

Whenever I've told a supervisor or head of department that a public servant I've been dealing with has literacy problems, such as repeatedly running sentences on because they don't understand what a sentence is, I've always been treated as if I've thrown a turd. There's no reporting procedure for bringing to a responsible person's attention that the basic competency with words that used to be taken for granted among all public servants and clerks is absent; that an organisation is employing people to write letters without having checked that they know how to do it properly or given them suitable training. Nobody gives the slightest toss.

    A very sensible article.

All we can really say from the early voting data is that it seems to be broadly compatible with the opinion polls, i,e. there's nothing there to suggest either a big Clinton lead or a substantial Trump vote which the pollsters aren't picking up.

Keeping money in the US economy by encouraging American companies to bring it back onshore sounds like a good start.

Encouragiing companies to employ Americans rather than importing workers from foreign countries and paying them less sounds like a good continuation.

Can I adress the first part of your answer, the issue of repatriation of cash back to the US. This is one of those things that sounds so great, but - in isolation - is not actually economically sensible.

    Bear with me.

If you look at large companies around the world - Siemens, Vodafone, etc. - then in almost all cases, you'll find they send (where possible) earnings back from subsidiaries to the the US. The only companies that do not do that are US ones. Why?

There are two (inter-related) reasons for this:

Firstly, the Federal corporate tax rate in the US is 35%, and there are state taxes on top of that. (The UK, by contrast, is 20%, and almost all countries, including those regarded as socialist by most PBers, are sub 30%.) Remitting profits - as dividends from subsidiaries - back to the US typically incurs a tax on the difference between the local tax charge and the US one. So, if you make £100 of profit in the UK, hand over £20 to the UK government, then you're liable for £15 of tax on the profits you send back to the US. Now, companies use all kinds of methods to get around this (cross charging, brand licensing, etc.), but the ultimate goal of the company is to pay as little tax as possible.

Secondly, US managements have gotten very adept at getting money to accrue in low (or zero) tax jurisdictions. So, companies will have BVI, Bermuda, Netherlands Antilles holding companies that will 'own' intellectual property. Profits (and cash) accrue there, rather than in the UK or US.

If you allow companies to bring back off-shore cash tax free you are effectively green lighting corporate tax evasion. And you are effectively saying "Big multinational companies, you don't need to pay tax. Small companies, 'fraid you still need to."

There's also the other important issue. If Google or Facebook is allowed to bring back cash tax free, why do you think it would result in more Americans being employed by them? These companies are already hiring as fast as they can in the US. Sure, they'll sign a pledge about increasing their investment in the US or somesuch guff, but how would you possibly police it?

People forget: this has been tried. In 2004 there was a repatriation holiday, after lavish promises about investment, and $362bn was returned to the US. It had the opposite of the expected effect, and those companies actually reduced investment in the US. Why? Because the tax holiday effectively gave a message to corporates saying 'earn your money abroad tax free instead of earning it in the US and paying taxes'. There is no way around this conundrum: repatriation holidays incentivise moving production abroad.

A superior policy would be to give up trying to tax corporate profits altogether. If governments want a slice, let them buy shares like any other entity.

The end game of the race to the bottom is 0% corporation tax anyway. You might as well get there first.

Up by 5 in Nevada including being up on Clark County (+19 Dem in 2008 and +15 Dem in 2012) as well as not polling enough Hispanics to produce a sub sample, Hispanics are 20% of the population)
And generally the laziest of voters.

Being called out as rapists could inject a tad of motivation methinks....
Trump was referring to illegal immigrants though, and he did mention that some were indeed "good people".
Next, Pulps, you'll be saying that Trump bragging about grabbing women by the genitals was locker room talk....
Its handwaving. Women love being grabbed without permission, hispanic men love being called rapists, hispanic women love being called 'Ms housekeeping'

Here's the clip. Surprising that she would slip up on this again as it was recently debunked. She was in NYC on 9/12 the following day, but not during the attacks.

So CNN have managed to produce a poll in Nevada which is 1in5 Latino, without any Hispanic sample??! What the hell are they playing at? Surely any responsible organiation would put the poll in the trash where it belongs.
There are Hispanics, just not enough to get a moe of less than 8.5% which given 20 Hispanic population means they way undersampled Hispanics.

If you allow companies to bring back off-shore cash tax free you are effectively green lighting corporate tax evasion. And you are effectively saying "Big multinational companies, you don't need to pay tax. Small companies, 'fraid you still need to."

A superior policy would be to give up trying to tax corporate profits altogether. If governments want a slice, let them buy shares like any other entity.

The end game of the race to the bottom is 0% corporation tax anyway. You might as well get there first.
I have sympathy with that view, but it would be a very hard sell politically.

Thanks all for your answers to my question.

In response to @Sandpit (who said this);-

"I'm an IT guy and her email story is implausible at best, dishonest in the middle and downright corrupt at worst.

AIUI you're a lawyer/investigator working in financial services.

How would you react if one of the senior traders at your firm was caught with company secrets / client data on their own email account? Not just a random gmail account either, but on their own server at home? When you asked them to turn it over, they produced a pile of printed out emails and had wiped the server with industrial server cleaner. Yet when questioned they say there's nothing wrong and you have everything you need to see.

What do you say about that person, when the boss asks you for a reference for their promotion? "

If one of our staff did that they would certainly be disciplined and almost certainly dismissed. But that doesn't explain the vitriol and hatred. On its own, anyway.

As for @MaxP: A good rib of beef for Xmas lunch is one of life's joys. None of this turkey/goose rubbish. Buy your beef from a proper butcher. And don't be put off by all this nonsense about how difficult it is to cook. Nonsense all of it.

The best outcome of Brexit negotiations between Britain and the European Union would be to keep the country in the bloc, a committee of academic advisers to the German government said in a report on Wednesday.

The Council of Economic Experts said the biggest threat to the EU from Britain's departure was the political fallout.

"An exit of the United Kingdom from the EU would not only mean an economic loss, but above all a bigger political loss," they wrote in their report. "The best outcome of the upcoming negotiations would therefore be if a Brexit could be averted."

All taxation falls ultimately on individuals. Why not simply tax everyone at that point?
Companies incur additional costs on government and benefits from government more widely. Creates weird incentives if it's all on individuals and they only participate on one side of the equation.
My point is that the beneficiary, ultimately, is individuals, not the company.
A truth summed up by the great communicator Mitt Romney as, "Corporations are people, my friend."

I am not sure I believe that.

Gallup says PA is a D+3 state. If this poll is D+11 and Trump down 4, in reality he is winning there. https://t.co/HazHDbTVMC

    Why?

Because its a secret ballot (apparently) and nobody knows who voted what, really?
