The Lib Dems are finished. They will become a rump party of middle class greenies in the south and southwest, with maybe an MP for Fair Isle.
UKIP need to start winning MPs, and fast - with the collapse in the LD vote, it is not good if that bolsters the big two and makes them even more distant and arrogant, safe in the knowledge that outside of a few specific areas it will always be a two way fight in England at least.
Suzanne Evans handled the question about the comments atributed to her very well indeed, insistent but not rantingly angry like so many UKIP supporters can be, justifiably or otherwise.
Looking forward to seeing Con and UKIP going head-to-head in FPTP - it should be an annihilation in 2015... divided right-wingers; different year, same old story...

Watching the BBC. Very interesting that in the first regional confirmed vote and in smaller districts the Conservatives are losing votes, but no more than 5%. What seems to be happening is that the Lib Dems have collapsed massively, as with a few of the 'others' parties too.
It is where they have gone to which should worry, Richard.
The BNP and EDL have both been lead by ineloquent people largely incapable of winning people over who weren't already convinced of their own accord. I hope they are not replaced with anything more effective, like the FN.
Grim that UKIP can beat Labour and Greens in Aberdeenshire, they really are a rum bunch up there.

I think we can say now for certain that UKIP will be a credible force in 2015, and that Cameron has an almighty headache in how to deal with them... it should be fun to watch him balls it up (lots of popcorn required)

In his defence, it is hard for him not to foul it up when so many of his side secretly or not so secretly agree with the opponents. How much of that is his fault is up for debate, but it is at least partly a bed of his own making of course.
Lets be clear. The vote has nothing to do with extremism or racism. Its a vote that suggests a lot of people are fed up with the distance of the ruling elites.

The SNP vote is still larger than the three of them put together - which does surprise me given the current composition of the council. However I doubt it will be the only surprise tonight!

You're right! Ed will just sail on regardless, because he knows his core vote will stick with him.

Just pointing out that on the issue of the European Parliament it's the principle not the money which counts.
