Anyway off to RHS Wisley. Beautiful morning for it.

I voted Labour by post down in Newton Abbot last week.

p.s. @Farooq lol. I feel a bit queasy about trying to badger someone, especially a friend, over how to vote. End of the day each person needs to make up their own mind. So you won’t find me saying VOTE LABOUR Oh ...

Good morning all. I wake with a sense of regret that I miss out on todays ritual because I already sent off a postal vote; a deep fatigue after being woken by the police ringing the doorbell at 4.30 asking if we knew a small child that had been found wandering the neighbouring street; and with a deep sense of trepidation and fear of the worst that I always get on general election nights.

The header should come with a trigger warning. That picture of Clegg with 10 seats takes me back to a thoroughly depressing night of hat eating.

What’s my biggest fear today? Probably not a huge Tory recovery to be largest party, I think that’s probably now beyond them, but a stronger than expected showing by Reform and seats in parliament, and a sense that perhaps, like in 2016, we are heading slowly towards what France is now experiencing.

So I posted my prediction yesterday, but my general thinking at the moment is that overall swing will be 12 to 13% with swing locally up to 20%. I think the MRPs are overdoing proportional swing as is baxter so seat count will be a little higher for the Tories than modelled. 150 seats on a 38 25 final score (e.g.) would not be an unreasonable expectation I think so towards that figure. Nearer 150 than 100, if they GOTV then 1997 or very slightly above.
But I will hold to my official prediction anyway

    Young people today.

"Emma Raducanu says she did not know general election vote was on Thursday

At a press conference, Raducanu was asked if she would vote before practising on Thursday, and if she would keep an eye on the general election in the evening. “No,” she replied, smiling. “I think I’ll have a lie-in, then I’ll come to practise.

“I didn’t even know it was tomorrow, to be honest! Thanks for letting me know.”"

Don't go for the best offer all the time - Talisker Skye is on offer at Tesco for a reason (it's awful).

I'm tempted to try Aber Fells simply because of this review (on Sainsburys)

    A complete imposter
This is not whisky, it is more like an unidentifiable fruit flavoured fortified beverage. I am of the opinion that the distiller/blender should stick to singing or rugby.

A Labour landslide with the Lib Dems as the official opposition will turn us into a Left-wing one party state

    Er, Lab = 1, LDs = 2...

    Oxymoronic from Heath.
Not necessarily. Labour can probably afford to lend LD enough "defectors" to bring them up to second largest party, and run a sock puppet opposition.

I think Labour will get rid of the ability to avoid IHT by passing the house on to your children.

For today and tomorrow I am lifting the one photo a day limit but on the following conditions.

    1) Only one photo per post

    2) The extra photo allowance must be election related. So no photos of what you had for lunch.

What about it I eat a dog at a polling station?
So long as its not a hot dog that should be quite interesting to see.
Bringing back memories of Michelle Bachmann and the Iowa State Fair Corn Dog incident. Google Michelle Bachmann Corn Dog if you haven’t seen it b4.

I'll probably be drinking Kraken which is my go to normally, but I might go for a different rum.

I have a bottle of Woods 100 for emergencies.
Not tried either of those yet, thanks for the tip.

I don't think I understand the spreadsheet linked to in the header. It doesn't seem to have all the constituencies on there. E.g. I can't see ANME.

Shame, because she’d obviously be a Lib Dem.

Not a great night's sleep last night. Makes tonight more of a challenge. But I will do my best.

50,000 of these have been hand delivered in Bristol Central this morning.

I did St Paul's which was festooned with green stake-boards and posters. It's difficult to stay grounded and remember that you can't tell what's going to happen from within a campaign: it feels SO much like a Green win.

Then back across the border to vote Labour in North Somerset.

Shattered already and there's nearly 24 hours to go.

Compliments to all of you who are fighting for your beliefs today. Bravo.

I suspect it'll be less than 1,000 votes either way, and there'll be a recount to establish the winner.

No chance. This is the number one issue for millions of Tory all their life, first time labour voters. He would lose them like con have lost the red wall. Lifetime transfers will go first

Only the 3rd one has all constituencies, but it struggles a bit.

The first 2 are for earlier in the evening when fewer are in play.

I was looking back at last polling night and I don't even remember writing this piece, published 01:49am, although I do vaguely remember that I had to write something. Anyway, turns out for a frantic first take it hasn't aged too badly!

Dark Matter? Better than "rather good". And rather apt for today's events if you are a Tory

Did you ever tell us *where* it was? Asking out of a spirit of scientific curiosity. No need to tell us if you haven't, though if it is a pilonidal one they are apparently real bastards.

I’ve made the sensible decision to only watch the first few results tonight as I’m heading away for the weekend tomorrow morning. . Hoping Broxbourne doesn’t end up in recount territory and declares by 1:30 ish as I used to be highly involved down there and would like to know how it goes.

I forgot to tell PB that yesterday I was offered and accepted a Newly Qualified solicitor job at my current firm, starting in September. Career change (which some of you might remember) very nearly complete. :)

I've got a lawyer themed thread coming up this afternoon.

You should read it, it may inspire you to make another career move.
