    I know this is an unpopular sentiment, but I quite like Jeff Bezos. His is a genuine rags-to-riches story, through hard work.

    Very late to the party as per usual I suspect but a quick look at the boundary changes for my part of the world.

    The current East Ham constituency reduced by a third, with everything south of the A13 going into the new West Ham & Beckton constituency.

    However, the excessively large (on existing boundaries) West Ham & Beckton loses much of the land north of the A124 (the Barking Road) - including Stratford - to the new Stratford & Bow constituency which will straddle both Newham and Tower Hamlets.

    In effect, Newham will go from two constituencies to two and a half as will Tower Hamlets with Poplar & Limehouse losing a little in the north and west to a new Bethnal Green & Stepney constituency.

    Net effect - 4 Labour seats become 5 Labour seats though I'd expect the Greens to finish second in Stratford & Bow next time.

    Did Williamson not run Sunak's leadership campaign? And then he made him Minister without Portfolio - the Mandelson role. That piece makes out that they barely know each other and that Williamson's presence at the heart of Government is some sort of odd coincidence.

    I guess you can argue that lots of villages in rural wilts will be more similar in make up than being combined with Salisbury (as used to be the case).
    Well, ideally they could still be combined with it, or not cross over the Swindon boundary at all, but that's the population problem for you, and they've got a better proposal than the first anyway.

    There is a gentle, nostalgic charm to the BBC’s UK GE coverage at least. I will admit Sky is likely superior, though in 2019 they had that odious twerp Bercow which marked them down substantially.

    It's actually pretty hard to get properly sacked from the Cabinet. PMs will stick by you a long time because it is not worth making an enemy or giving a win to the opposition.

    NH is quite big on split ticket voting, IITC governor Sununu gat about 200,000 more votes than Trump in 2020 despite both being in the same party.

    Not sure what name clearing he can do - the accusations seem to amount to that he is a bit of a dick, and his own words and the accounts of loads of people who have worked with him seem to bear that out.

    The question was whether his acting that way was detrimental to the government, which it obviously was since if he was liked more they'd have toughed it out. But ain't no one been standing up for him to the level of Braverman.

    It really isn't. It's in the middle of a robust election. It may be facing a choice almost as bad as Brazil's, but you can't without hyperbole claim it's not a functioning democracy. If all the countries are listed top to bottom in order of how democratic they are it's much closer to the top than the bottom.

    From a broadcast perspective, I think it’s pretty much accepted that CNN tend to be good at assessing the trends and the numbers, and generally being on the ball with developments. You do however have to be able to stomach the ever present “liberal” bias, but then it’s the US media so partiality is everywhere.

    You can never go wrong with PB though!

    There is a gentle, nostalgic charm to the BBC’s UK GE coverage at least. I will admit Sky is likely superior, though in 2019 they had that odious twerp Bercow which marked them down substantially.
    I didn't see it, but for a certain type of viewer I'd have thought there'd be enjoyment from watching Bercow presumably really hating the outcome of the election.

    Nope, it's FTX insolvency

    And worth pointing out it's not really about bitcoin - it's about other cryptos (mainly ftx's own token and solana, which they have a sh*t ton of, but there is zero liquidity to sell into, making it worthless if you actually try to sell it - btc doesn't have that kind of liquidity problem).

    I’ve never understood why on election nights the BBC, Sky and ITV have different seat totals. Surely you update when a declaration is made? So why are they different?
