TP gave a good account of himself with a 16.4% increase in the Conservative vote:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/politics/constituencies/E14000667

With 41.7% of the vote TP will have done better than several previous Conservatives strongholds.

And the DUP hold East Belfast well enough.

Interesting backstory. Back in 2010 when DUP leader and incumbent Peter Robinson was mired in a bit of trouble, the loyalist working classes were urged by their own 'leaders' to stick it to him as a reminder that he'd lost touch with the common man. Long became MP and knew exactly what got her over the line, loyalist housing estate votes.

Fast forward 2017, those same loyalist leaders urged people not to vote Long, shes basically doing damage to the unionist cause. Long cries foul...terrible that paramilitary representatives suggest voting DUP...forgetting how they supported he in 2010

Bearing in mind hard-core loyalist communities in Belfast have long had an uneasy relationship with the DUP and tend not to turn out, it was a fairly remarkable statement.

Tough shit Naomi. You pissed on your electorate and they didn't forget.
