Yes, Crosby's re-branding of May has been quite extraordinary. Many moons ago May was actually a figure of contempt amongst the British Right: the 'nasty party' stuff was seen as self-flagellating and pandering; she espoused such notions of gender equality; she wasn't at all sympathetic to criticism of Islam. All in all May was seen as a robotic, unprincipled, PC jellyfish and the very embodiment of societal decline. That's all forgotten now, of course.0

The Bath and North East Somerset mayoral first count had Con 13,103, Lib Dem 10,021, Labour 6,137. That encompasses Rees-Mogg's seat (traditionally Con/Lab battle) as well as Bath. So that looks competitive.0 -

I know Hucknall well - I remember leafleting and canvassing it when a teenager in the famous 1977 Ashfield by-election there.... 20.8% swing.NickPalmer said:And two Tory gains in Hucknall, by 74 and 398. Exactly right. If you're a unionist (and remember that was 55% of the electorate in 2014), then you're going to be looking at the tories as being potentially the only game in town. Supported by Super Ruth.dyedwoolie said:

The eurosceptic Tory Right seem more obsessed with obscure EU functionaries now that we've left than they ever were when we were a member. Shame - if they'd had paid that much attention at the time, perhaps we could have shaped the EU to be much more to our liking.Beverley_C said:
