Absolute and total rejection of ScotLab. 30 per cent swings???? Thrasher thinks wipeout possible. Labour cannot recover from this, ever. Or for several generations, anyway. Maybe LibDem cannot, either. My word.
FPT, BenM, and other Labour supporters who have taken this magnanimously, fair play to you for fronting up, unlike the gobshites, who have gone underground. It reflects well on you.
Anecdote alert, my Mum (from the Rhondda) voted Tory for the first time in her life at 78. Reason being that she didn't like the idea of a Labour/SNP coalition.
Given that she STILL refers to the blessed Margaret as 'Thatcher the Snatcher', you may colour me surprised. Of course, she lives in an unimportant seat, but I'd hazard a guess she's not alone.
One thing that the SNP will have to deal with is the fact that a good number of these candidates were selected with very little expectation of actually winning. There are going to be some very 'interesting' new people who never expected to be MPs...
Well Scotland voted against the Tories, the rest of the country voted against the SNP.
I think that's absolutely spot on. The SNP surge won it for the Conservatives.
As long as the SNP is strong in Scotland the Tories will be in power just to keep them out. Until either Labour promises English Devolution or UKIP replace Labour (because the SNP hates UKIP).

It may be the only way to preserve the Union.

Turnouts are all over 75% or so.
