Tories should be getting worried by those ComRes "half-time" scores -- could foretell a new UKIP poll surge.

I never thought I'd hear myself saying this.. I thought Cameron came across better on immigration than Farage.

You make a good contrast to all the one eyed pro and anti comments on here. Some comments seem to be as if they can change reality just by making them
I can only repeat, brent crude down 5% on news of Iran talks

Thanks. I try and say it how i see it. I thought Farage would pummel Cameron on immigration.

He hasn't. Cameron was clearly prepared for it.
Helps when the others have such wildly out of touch positions on immigration that both Cameron and Farage can only look good.

  • glwglw Posts: 9,956

No one watching will remember who said what. It's all lost in noise.

It is a mess, and it is just as well that there will only be a few questions.

  • MikeLMikeL Posts: 7,723

ComRed...Farage winning and losing at the same time :-)

ITV News / ComRes poll says Ukip leader performed BEST in the first half. Farage is also performing WORST according to the poll.

As anybody backed him to be the winner and loser?

Loser is who comes last in the winner poll - so won't be Farage.

I think Mr Farage needs Jack Bauer to save him tonight.

    Good evening, everyone.

Mr. Jessop, there's a line often used 'still a better love story than Twilight'. I've seen it applied to almost everything, including the Call of Duty single player campaign.

Julie favours Cam a touch there - letting him deal with Syria as well.

To be fair he had a lot to respond to as many people had spoken against him without giving him a chance to respond. I was surprised it took so long to let him get a response about Syria after it was made. It seems in the earlier questions they kept going back to him, but this time they just went back to him once but for slightly longer.

Mr. Jessop, you're talking about Twilight, right?

Sadly, yes. Although I fear the only thing that might make the debates worth watching are some gratuitous sex scenes. Perhaps they could record it in a carriage on the Epping-Ongar Railway (see last night). The question is how they would couple (or threesome?) up. To make things more even, Cameron could have Soubry stand in for him so she could make her claim about Farage come true.

I see the Guardian blog is pretty downbeat on the debate. Personally I think it's pretty good - good moderation, and the speakers interacting without too much shouting and interruption. Farage appealing to his core vote pretty clearly and repelling everyone else. Wood nice enough but clearly outclassed. I think Ed's doing well but I might be biased...

Sturgeon has been excellent, Bennett and Wood surprisingly good, Farage I think has done okay because he's been ganged-up on and looks like the anti-establishment figure, Miliband and Cameron have been drowned out a bit and Clegg has spoken smartly and looks comfortable.

I'm not watching but I'm following the chatter on a few sites that are left-leaning. I'm not seeing a lot of positive comments about Miliband. Still an average performance by him would exceed expectations.

The big picture has to be status quo - hard to see votes moving.

That is made more likely by Easter - all TV news programmes are very short for the next 4 days - means little chance for post debate hype.
