Betfair punters remember this is a close race – politicalbetting.com

I have to admit this has happened sooner than I expected, I thought the Harris lead on Betfair would widen this week due to the convention then narrow in September.

It is time.
For the one.
The only.
The greatest.
KLOBUCHAR.
England go into the first test with a decidedly makeshift XI including a stand-in captain, non-specialist opener and a county no. 8 at no.7.
It is of course true that Lawrence will probably score as many runs as the distinctly patchy Crawley. But that side has the tail of a diplodocus so it will need *more* runs from the top 6 than usual.
Competition’s clash with the Olympics is mainly blamed for the decline in audience numbers
Television viewing figures for the Hundred dropped by more than a quarter this summer at a time when the England and Wales Cricket Board is hoping to attract investors to buy into the competition.
Figures seen by Telegraph Sport show that average television audiences across both Hundred competitions took a big hit as the sport struggled for viewership up against the Olympics. The women’s competition dropped by 41 per cent on Sky and the men’s tournament 28 per cent compared to 2023.
On the BBC, the men’s Hundred was down 25 per cent but the women’s competition stayed roughly the same, with a reduction of only two per cent.
The figures were improved by a successful last week with audiences for the men’s final on Sunday up by 36 per cent on the BBC with a peak audience of 1.3 million on last year, compared to 869,000 in 2023. Sky figures were slightly better than last year for the final, up by six per cent for the men. The women’s final average audience was however down 10 per cent on Sky and 20 per cent on the BBC. The peak audience figure for the women’s final on both channels was also down.
The competition’s clash with the Olympics is mainly blamed by insiders for the fall but there is also an indication it is stagnating in only its fourth year and needs new investors to inject fresh ideas to give it a lift.

Beyond the obvious headline policies such as reproductive freedom I am not sure. BTW Grabbing ownership of “freedom “ and tying it to that Bejonce riff was a genius bit of campaigning.
My hunch is that after Project 2025 there will be less emphasis on theological policy
But this is the ECB, so it’s probably to be expected.
LOL at the last line, they’re looking for new investors? Who’s going to invest in that crap shoot that no-one watches?
This is how it works.
9yo: What is that?
Me: What?
9yo: THAT!
Me: The convention?
9yo: No.
Wife: Cheese hats.
9yo: WHY DO THEY GET CHEESE HATS??
ME: Do you want a cheese hat?
9yo: OF COURSE I WANT ONE!

is this a request for foreign aid?
Although it is worth remembering the fact it is up for sale at all shows it has failed. The initial idea, because Tom Harrison and Vikram Banerjee (bless them) have about three brain cells between them, was that it would be owned by the ECB and make lots and lots of luvverly cash for them.
They apparently hadn't noticed that of T20 leagues around the world, only the IPL makes a serious profit. The Big Bash League roughly breaks even (having lost a lot of money in the first ten years) and the rest make a loss.
Edit - this is an interesting article on the subject.

This is more Dutch Golden Age than Renaissance. All it needs is a tiled floor.
The next action will be to take that box of tissues and shred them everywhere.
As opposed to control-freak anti-woke men who want women to be baby-breeding machines? Even in cases such as rape or incest?
Which, ironically, they are giving up by selling a large stake in the franchises for a knock-down price while giving the rest to the counties.
(Why a working class lad like TSE can't stick to English is beyond me.)
There are some allegations flying around on Twitter today, which I will not repeat for fear of being force fed pineapple pizza while reading 67 AV threads, that may not be to Mr Trump's advantage on this subject.
If it weren't for the Big State GOP trying to tell women what to do with their bodies then mobile clinics wouldn't be required.
How about women get access to do what they need to do via their doctor or pharmacist and everyone else not involved minds their own business? Is that too much to ask for?
For everyone's sake let's keep it Brie-f.
It's time for the ECB to take a truly bold step, and make a competition that is really differentiated.
Ladies and Gentlemen of PB, I present you with:
The One
Just a single ball of cricket. One batsman, one bowler. Maybe even skip the fielders. Whichever batsman hits the ball the furthest wins.
Let's do it, guys.
- Politician starts railing about immigration. SYWM - turns out most of the domestic staff at his/her mansion are illegals. Extra points for having an affair with one of them.
- Politician starts on gun control. SYWM - turns out that the pol owns an arsenal. Extra points for having a special license for some or all, in states that do have restrictions. Top points for pols who employ private armed guards. Living on a gated estate which comes with armed guards only gets you *some* points.
- Politician starts in on family values. SYWM - points for affair, affair with illegal immigrant domestic staff, points for abortion, points for dumping wife….
Or have I got the cue cards muddled up? Again….
It comes from the Latin pace which means peace.
Preposition: pace
With due respect to (someone or their opinion), used to express polite disagreement or contradiction.
"narrative history, pace some theorists, is by no means dead"
States Rights? There is something familiar about the style of this - I Dredd to think what it is….
Nobody's contradicted you because none of them know.
Wiki has a whole article about it:

But nowhere near as boring as the abysmal Hundred.

(Wasn't the need for something that looked a bit like cricket, but was knock-off brand enough that it would be cheap enough for terrestrial TV part of the brief in the first place?)
The European Central Bank takes over responsibility for England & Wales cricket.
The England & Wales Cricket Board takes over financial control in Europe.
The current arrangement isn’t working. Time to spice it up…..
As of this morning, RCP has Harris leading Trump by 1.5% in the popular vote average but Trump ahead by 287 to 251 for Harris in the EC, though Trump leads in PA and Arizona by just 0.2% on average.
By the weekend I suspect Harris will be narrowly ahead in the EC too after her likely post convention poll bounce and to have increased her lead in national polls

As someone who has spent years investigating right-wing extremism, I keep being asked who organised the chaos, as if there is one simple answer.
But the recent disorder is more complex and has laid bare the anarchy of modern right-wing extremism, as well as the extent of its reach.
The truth is that no one organisation owned or organised the riots: they were bigger than that.
This lack of cohesion makes the situation more unpredictable and dangerous. For the authorities, there are so many potential rioters and potential targets, and a lack of obvious national organisations to disrupt.
By contrast, counter-demonstrations by anti-racism campaigners have been far more cohesive and organised.

Robert F Kennedy Jr is considering dropping out of the presidential race and teaming up with Donald Trump to stop Kamala Harris from winning the election, his running mate has said.
Nicole Shanahan, the independent candidate’s vice presidential running mate, said the pair are considering abandoning their bid for the White House in order to help Trump beat the Democrats.
Tulsi Gabbard 🌺
@TulsiGabbard
Free speech is under attack in America. Our government has proven they will stop at nothing to try to censor and control what we can say, read and hear. Watch to learn the TRUTH about how they’re doing this and what we must do to stop them and defend #FreeSpeech. #TulsiXTruth

His funder, other than his running mate, is also Trump's biggest backer. They can pull the plug whenever they want.
I have alluded to Catullus 16 in a few work reports but never quoted it verbatim.
Seriously, I don't understand the market movement. There seems to be no news event or poll data to justify it.
We all have words we've used for decades, assuming we know what they mean, only to discover...
(I just can't think of one, right at the moment - but that's probably my poor memory.)
So I loaded up a bit more on Harris, as I agree with you.
Get all the players at the same place for two or thre days over a weekend. A series of short, perhaps only two overs per side, seven-a-side games in a league format, leading to knockout rounds QF, SF and final. Have mens, womens, boys, and girls competitions all on at the same time, perhaps make use of a second field if available. Make it family-friendly, lots of sideshows and get-the-kids-involved stuff, and a ‘family stand’ in the ground with no alcohol. But to the rest of the crowd, it’s basically a party with some cricket going on in the background, the cans of beer sold by the case slowly disappearing as fast as the sunburn appears, and the day finishes with a live band so everyone doesn’t leave at once.
You could do four or five locations over the course of a few weeks in the summer, fitting around other events.
