Probably different round your bit, but the majority of the people in my country are a little bit sad about being forced out of the EU against their will. Whether they're a community or in mourning could be debated I guess.
We are pure raging TUD, time to get us direct Ferry links to Europe for sure.
I think all but the most EUphobic Unionists think reinstating a ferry link would be a good thing. I'm a bit mystified why it hasn't been pushed more in fact.
We'll need ferry links after we dynamite the tunnel.

I don't see why: the opportunity to stop Brexit has long gone. A deal - however paltry - does at least amount to a first step on the gruelling road back to fulfilling our European destiny. No Deal, with all the ensuing acrimony and hardship, would have made it far more difficult and painful.
Yes, the Deal is the first step to salami slicing Brexit into non-existence.
apart from all the downsides , hassle and bills
There is that. I'd much rather not have to prove that the EEA is a good thing to be part of in an experiment, much as I don't want to be in a bath where caesium bath bombs are being tested.
But we are where we are, and BoJo has won the right to try something that looks dumb. I can hope he succeeds, even if I can't see how.
It's being in the bath next to the bomb that you don't like? Baths are great places to be when nasty bombs explode. They tend to have great bathtub insulation and the water is really very helpful.

On topic, surely US Attorney General Barr is safe while he is needed to cross the t's on presidential pardons. No point risking getting your collar felt because the paperwork's sitting on a vacated desk in the DoJ.
Whilst it is part of the DoJ the Office of the Pardon Attorney does all that, Trump won't need an AG to process his pardons.

Given its potentially legally dubious to pardon himself he would surely have more chance of success with better lawyers than Rudi advising him?
MPs should be prioritised ahead of the general public. We disdain them a lot, they give us reason to disdain them, but they are the people we have chosen to represent and govern us. I have no problem in saying they should have a greater priority than many other non-high priority groups, though I doubt many of them will say the same.
But that would still mean most of them are quite a ways down the list, since most people agree on the top priority people.
Is that a joke or were you just practicing your typing skills?

Didn't Alan Clark put down an amendment to the Chunnel Bill proposing that? That dynamite should be built into the tunnel just in case?
(That would have been late 1980s? And that's why the UK's direction of travel from here feels pretty inevitable; 1/1/21 will be peak separation.)
Go back 100 years. The anxieties about invasion scuppered the 1880s Chunnel attempt, I believe.
Shapps has had a bad COVID - he's consistently fecked up - the UK's border/quarantine policy has been risible - and announcing this before the conditions are available is pathetic:

On a serious note the distances involved and sea conditions do complicate the viability of sea ferries from Scotland to mainland Europe.
Of course it can be done but not sure how successful it would be
It's already been done between 2002-2008 and there's still an existing Rosyth-Zeebrugge freight route.
Of course the Irish are increasing their (even longer) ferry routes, one of the benefits of being wholly in charge of their own affairs.
I did the Zeebrugge trip a couple of times. It was a great way to get to the continent for a bit of touring. Not sure it ever made a profit though.

True, but they hadn't done the geology or started the digging. They had done both by the 1880s - though on checking I see the gunpowder charges plan was also a C19 one.
Shapps has had a bad COVID - he's consistently fecked up - the UK's border/quarantine policy has been risible - and announcing this before the conditions are available is pathetic:
Guernsey did have "business travel tunnels" which had to be applied for and had specific and rigid criteria:
Business tunnels are strictly limited to same day return travel only, without the need for mandatory self-isolation. Travel to and from the airport hangars or terminal building must not be on public transport. Social distancing of one metre must be maintained at all times. Contacts must be recorded for tracing purposes and should be minimised. Passengers must wear facemasks as they pass through the airport and in the transport to their meeting location. Evidently no one in the government. Bit like how they were blindsided by the COVID spikes after kids returned to school and over a million students moved around the country to mingle in dorms....

Yes, we're being prepared for a possible breakdown of talks and the Government is getting to blame the EU.
That may be true - it may not. I fear objective opinion and analysis is going to be in short supply - some will instinctively blame the EU, others the UK Government, the facts be damned.
Depending upon the details the changes could be a good idea or a bad idea. Eg Premier League teams playing in the Champions League away aren't having to self isolate for a fortnight when they return.
But it depends what the policy is, what protocols etc. And that's not said instead just a meaningless Tweet that had no reason to be sent and no details to accompany it so of course everyone is going to think the worse.

That's possibly why they appear to be blowing off course - toward the open expanses of the Atlantic Ocean.

If you have something to say then say it. A link with details attached. Not just vague meaningless Tweets that will just stoke anger whether or not what you're doing is a good or bad idea.
