These people are not subjects or vassals, they are voters.

How do you think they are going to react when we do eventually get to have a say on all this bullsh8t??
    Positively

Yes, and we are about three weeks behind them (although our cases are rising faster than theirs did at this stage).
Yes, northern English cities will be locked down next week, and London and other cities are likely to follow a week later, to coincide with half term. When the restrictions will be lifted, God only knows. They will tell us it is just for two weeks, as a "circuit breaker", but they will be lying.

Is it just me, or are most of the voices against restrictions actually coming from the regions with the "lowest rate of infection in Europe?"

Rather like when Corbynistas accuse people on their own side of being "Tories" or anyone of a slightly right of centre view of being "fascist". It is the ludicrous hyperbole of the political extremes. It demonstrates rank stupidity, but then we should expect it of Trump.
It perhaps demonstrates that 'socialist' is not packing quite the punch as a pejorative label as it used to either?

So in three weeks time we will have 80 deaths a day. Maybe.

These lockdowns are not working. Hammering the healthy to try to protect the very ill and very old is a giant disaster.

While it should not be the case that people who are Etonians with their natural sense of superiority are promoted to positions of responsibility when they have little else to offer (yes I am referring to Johnson), it would be equally ridiculous if we ignored people who are genuinely good who went there. IMO Rory Stewart is genuinely one of the latter variety. Your post smacks of silly small minded inverted snobbery.
The problem is, how do you determine who the genuinely good people are?

No takers I imagine. But the point is people like them are clearly not the only problem.
No, but they do a damn good job at exacerbating said problem. France has its own issues I am sure, but pointing to their incompetence does not let our so-called leader, and for that matter our much loved institutions (yep, the NHS), off the hook.

I quite like the Metropolitan Police. If they say something then mostly that's fine for me, at least in the short term.

Trying to be picky about whether the police have got it quite right strikes me as unpleasant, and not the mindset of a law-abiding person.

As a law-abiding person I expect the police, above all, to abide by the law. For them to misrepresent what the law is and threaten the public with non-existent laws are very unpleasant actions indeed.

Or do I have to remind you of this - https://barry-walsh.co.uk/lockdown-blues/ - when a policeman threatened a member of the public with making up evidence to get this own way.

In short, look for genuine leadership skills. Sadly our democratic system seems to have comprehensively failed us in this regard in the last 4 or 5 years. Boris Johnson has next to none, Jeremy Corbyn minus points.

Of course, worth remembering that in no-lockdown Sweden, the Universities have not gone back. (Nor has any 16+ education.)

They might start allowing flights from outside the EEA soon.

Those polls are where I expect public opinion is, but to be fair they are a bit dated in this fast moving crisis and I look forward to more polling when the new regulations are announced

If you add the South West to the South East figure that would equate to less than 15 cases per 100000

Malmesbury's wonderful daily breakdown shows this clearly.

The North/South divide on Covid is extraordinary and I can find no explanantion for it.
Even now Exeter Uni has joined the party?

Perhaps the Trump campaign is picking up on the notion Harris had an absolute stinker last night and are holding up the prospect of a quick shift of power to voters.
Only in your head did Harris have "an absolute stinker" last night. Don't suppose there is the tiniest possibility that you might have some evidence to back that assertion. The only poll I've seen had Harris winning the debate with a very comfortable digit lead.

You can be as arrogant as you want but the fact you still claim the Tory manifesto promised "only to end free movement, do our own trade deals and regain control of fishing waters" is 100% wrong. It promised:
    • Take back control of our laws.
    • Take back control of our money.
If the LPF commitments mean we don't control our laws and money that is a violation.

    End of conversation.
Phrases like "take back control of our laws" and "take back control of our money" are for moronic serfs who get played time and time again by the ruling class.

    End of conservatism.
