Yes, it is notable that PB Tories consider a woman shouting in an evening dress shouting slogans sufficient threat to require a neck grip perfectly reasonable self defence, yet when Layla slaps a partner she feels threatened by is domestic abuse.
Could she be ... oh, I don't know ... privately wealthy. Perhaps rabbit wool knitting is not her main source of income?
For sure, there’s no way she & her husband can live on what they make from rabbit wool in their tiny few acres in Pembrokeshire.
So, they’ve got family money ... they're English good-lifers fleeing Wigan.
Considering the demographic and economic problems of Wales, I would have thought she should be welcomed.0 -

What is the evidence that the climate in Pembrokeshire is better suited to the breeding of rabbits than Wigan? Rabbits are famous for breeding, whether in Wigan or Whitesands.
These off-grid development do not have to be registered for Council Tax (thanks to Wales' One World legislation), so I am not quite sure why the Welsh have to be grateful when affluent English people fleeing Wigan (for some reason) turn up in a Welsh National Park, build a shanty town, and dump rubbish all over the countryside, while living off-grid with their rabbits.0 -

An interesting question is why does this sort of thing always happen to Boris? Maybe it is just who he is but you have to take the rough with the smooth! The point is Boris is one of those bizarre people who is interesting to watch just like Trump. I don't think this does anything but reinforce the opinion that he is a liability and cannot be taken seriously. This does not stop him becoming PM but looking at the Daily Mails other story on his complex domestic life over several decades does him no favours. Maybe the media is trying to make this a competitive contest instead of a walkover!kjohnw said:This Boris story is a non story . The Welsh Government (run by Labour fuckwits) should be supporting the rural Welsh poor. Instead they are importing English ecofruitcakes into rural Wales.
I will never, ever forgive Labour for how they have run Wales.

Seems a good time to top up on Boris as next Tory leader but Lidington or Ken Clarke for next PM to me.0

I’m in a very strange position .
As much as I’d like to see Johnson implode and not become the next PM I also want a Leaver to own Brexit and if there’s a no deal to have to pick up the pieces .
The problem with Hunt is regardless of his born again Leaver guff he voted Remain , and we’ll never hear the end of the whining from the Leave side .
In that respect a run off against Gove would have been much better .0 -

You need to consider a scenario where Boris limps across the finish line, can't command confidence of all his own MPs, yet alone a majority of the House, but someone must to sort Brexit and that isn't Corbyn either.HYUFD said:

Maybe but if you want a Farage wet dream it would be Boris wins the Tory leadership, the Commons votes down his government but refuses to make Corbyn PM either or vote for a general election and instead makes Lidington or Starmer or Clarke or Cable or another arch Remainer a caretaker PM to revoke Article 50 and cancel BrexitCasino_Royale said:

In any case today's story is utter rubbish, based on the members I have seen on social media if anything it reinforces support for Boris, it shows the dirty tricks the left will stoop to and we need someone ready to go to war with them and the diehard Remainers trying to reverse Brexit.
Boris will, Farage will, Hunt I am not so sure, he looks like May 2

Having a PM who doesn't instantly leap into endorsing confrontation when anything happens seems a good idea to me in today's world.1 -
Evidently journalists have spoken to a number of different neighbours who were concerned now. Obviously not a question of just one neighbour trying to make trouble.
Johnson supporters must be hoping it really was just a temporary tiff, and that he won't be moving out tomorrow!0 -
Yes, because the only options are someone who instantly leaps into endorsing confrontation and one who essentially refuses all practical instances of confrontation. It's not like someone might take a more nuanced view and take things on their merits, not driven by ideological position in these things.NickPalmer said:On another subject, I suspect Corbyn is feeling quietly vindicated by all this:

A rather optimistic view of things.

On today's YouGov according to Electoral Calculus the Brexit Party get 265 MPs, the Tories get 60 and add the DUP with 10 and you get to 335 combined, with only 326 needed for an overall majority.CarlottaVance said:

Once the Brexit Party come first in the polls, as they do with YouGov today, then FPTP really starts to help them.

In general FPTP will help the party that comes first, but in a four-way split the willingness to vote tactically, if executed remotely accurately, could overwhelm that effect.HYUFD said:

Have the Brexit Party got candidates in place in all constituencies? Thoroughly vetted? The organisation on the ground to GOTV? There's a long way from 'a YouGov poll' to 'forming a government' - and you assume the Tories that survive the massacre would be amenable to propping up a Farage government. Or the DUP with Farage's Britain England First! message.HYUFD said:

Let me assure you if Boris does not get it this time and the Tories do not deliver Brexit by the end of the year I know countless lifelong Tories who will defect to the Brexit Party, probably for good.
If the remaining rump Tories have a choice between PM Farage or PM Corbyn they are hardly going to choose Corbyn are they and the DUP are fine with Farage as he firmly opposes the backstop1 -
Agree with this although in a nationwide four-way-marginal world I guess a lot of established local parties that aren't used to fighting competitive elections are also going to get knocked on their arses.CarlottaVance said:

The polling says 'Boris' is less important to the Tories than 'Brexit'.
If the latter isn't delivered, who is leader is of little relevance.-1 -

Only minor difference is Yougov says the Tories would be 3rd with Boris tied with Labour but 4th with Hunt on just 17 seats (In the latter scenario May in Maidenhead and Surrey South West would be amongst the few survivors of the meltdown and the Brexit Party would win a majority of 38 with 344 seats).
Yvette Cooper would also lose her seat to Farage's Party

These new-fangled drone contraptions must be incredibly frustrating to Bolton and the other hawks trying the old Cuban Missile Crisis tactic of sending aircraft over to get shot down and escalate the crisis.
