I can't see Jezza having any problems during a month long GE campaign...the press have nothing to go at.
Yesterday Jezza accused Thatcher of supporting apartheid - which people from Mandela to FW DeKlerk have rubbished - great Thatcher quote on asked about the difference between the IRA and the ANC: The IRA have the vote. The ANC do not.

May's sweetening of Trump ensures that he will not slam tariffs on UK goods as he will on Mexican, Chinese and maybe German goods if no deal is reached.

    *cough*Bollocks*cough*

He has already complained that Europeans don't buy as many Chevy's as American's buy BMWs

Now, we know the reason for that, but by his logic he will only want us to export Range Rovers if we import an equal number of Suburbans
It is BMWs he will be targeting, not Range Rovers given the limited size of our car industry compared to Germany. If there is a trade war EU exports could face tariffs from the US and UK if they refuse to play ball at all. Trump will certainly impose tariffs on Chinese and Mexican imports and it looks increasingly likely French and German ones too

The list he put out in September had 21 names on it. Then he narrowed the list down to four, three, or two, according to different sources. This is show business. Gorsuch should have worn his swimming trunks.

Trump's choice seems more 'managerial' - 'pick the best guy for the job' than 'political' (though that's obviously involved too) - there were other more 'extreme' choices he could have made if he was the alt-right headbanger some would believe.....

Fox News saying it's simple - if Democrats filibuster Gorsich then Republican Senators call a vote to change Senate rules.

In 2013, Democrats did the same - they changed the rules so Cabinet nominees can't be filibustered.

Now, Republicans will vote to extend the above to Supreme Court nominees.

51 votes needed to change the rules - Fox predicting this will happen by end of March.

Then, no filibuster possible, Gorsich will go straight to a vote, 51 votes needed to appoint him.

Of course rule change then stands in the future.

    The Economist's take:

Mr Gorsuch is a scholarly, refined jurist whom Democrats will be hard-pressed to vilify. In contrast to William Pryor, another judge shortlisted for the seat, who once called Roe v Wade "the worst abomination" in the history of constitutional law, Mr Gorsuch is not given to the sort of incendiary remarks that could haunt him in confirmation hearings.

Who says CNN sets things up for democrats. First up in the town hall, the questioner labels the judge who got picked less than an hour ago as having a record of being anti-women.

Telegraph saying that the new Justice was selected in a "flamboyant ceremony".

"In 2002, Gorsuch penned an op-ed criticizing the Senate for delaying the nomination of Merrick Garland to the DC Court of Appeals, writing that "the most impressive judicial nominees are grossly mistreated" (Wikipedia)

Our system is better. It just is. Having an unelected head of state tourist attraction is better than the "checks and balances" (which mean nothing if these changes go ahead ) they have.
