Andrew Neil giving a masterclass in what a well briefed interviewer should be like. To be fair Hilary Benn is just about holding up under this forensic onslaught.
Mr. 1983, an alternative would be putting together a Twitter list called Tipstr featuring chaps who know their fields reasonably well. Rapid response to events can pave the way to victory as bookies take 15-30 minutes to respond to things (as well as a recent example, in 2012 I got about 5/1 on Maldonado and Alonso to lead lap of Spain. Both were on the front row after Hamilton was disqualified from his pole position).
Edited extra bit: for those wondering, I very rarely mention tipping or bets on Twitter, pb.com is where I ruminate on such things.
Fantastic idea and you should definitely do it, but not sure there's enough there for a new social network - though catering to niche interests is definitely the way forward.
The reality is, everything fragments. Everything distils into purer, more focused, more dumbed down versions of itself. The most popular bit of Myspace was the status update, so Facebook takes over. Twitter, reductive of Facebook. Snapchat, reductive of Twitter. Find a more focused, reduced, dumbed down idea, and it will work.
I agree with you, sadly. Benn is stupor incarnated in human form.
And this is my last post on pbCOM on this excruciating matter. I am upset, my wife thinks I'm obsessed, I've voted anyhow and not going to convince anyone here anyhow. I wish Cameron hadn't left this important decision in the hands of the British lumpen.
Cheers for now pbCOM, I'll probably be drawn back for the US election so best of wishes to JackW, and thanks to Lucky for warding me off Rice Crispies (my favourite snack) in the interim. Ali,,,Bumaye....
@LOS_Fisher: Van salesman told Osborne he'd same name as chancellor. Replying he was the chancellor, man was sceptical. "We had to stand there as he googled my face."
I guess this is what happens if you're a Submarine Chancellor.
I'm a huge fan of the idea of the European Union and a pan-European identity, however this campaign has got me so jaded that tonight I am tempted to vote to leave. The implementation of the EU in its current form is just so poor...

Funny how Channel 4 were trying to pass off Eddie Izzard as young and appealing to the youth vote - he is 54 now and been on the block since 1982!
Also, he's a 54 year old man who wears a dress, red lipstick and wants to have breasts.
I applaud his bravery in being so open, but it is a tiny bit difficult to take him seriously when he sometimes looks like a pantomime dame
He is, or was, an absolutely brilliant comic. One of the best I have ever seen. Genius.
I am not sure the yuff even know he used to be a famous comic.
Admittedly a small sample size but I have just asked the two young ladies behind the bar at my local if they had heard of Eddie Izzard. One who is 21 has heard of him, the other who is 19 hasn't. Make of that what you will.
The one that had heard of him...did he know he used to be one.of the biggest comics or did he know him as the person who is part of LGBT community & bangs on about politics?
I was trying to encourage her to vote last month. After the most recent election, I asked if she had. "I was gonna vote, then couldn't be bothered." Having now asked her, she has heard of the name but doesn't know anything about him.
Can't wait for Wedneday 7.30pm on BBC when Andrew Neil tears Osborne to shreds - less than 48 hours to wait!
Car crash interviews may be good viewing, but if Mr Neil tears everyone he interviews to shreds, how does that help the viewers reach a decision on the referendum?
The 'economic bomb' language that Cameron used today makes me wonder who the hell is advising Cameron on this campaign? Surely anyone with an ounce of sense on the remain side can see that more and more fearmongering rhetoric is only going to dig an even deeper hole for themselves.
I think when the telephone polling companies realised they'd made such an enormous error with the over 65 sample that that has played into the leave campaign's hand as it has more than accentuated the shift in polls. But never in a million years could Cameron or anyone organising the remain campaign have forseen just what a hindrance and spanner in the works that Corbyn's one-hundredth hearted campaign has and is proving to be.

I do worry about both Farage and IDS to come. If Neil asks Farage about his ridiculous Cologne sex attack comments then he should just apologies there and then and say he got it wrong, and contrast that with the entrenched positions of the remain campaign. That's the moment I fear when Farage comes up against Cameron against Wembley, and if he tries to get too clever and use a football analogy or something of the sort as well.
IDS I'd have the same worry as Benn jnr - not quick enough thinking on his feet to avoid being pole-axed by Neil, but he's not as bad as Benn jnr on that score.

Less high drama that's easily edited for news clips.
Is he *really* in the running for next Labour leader?

Mr. 1983, I'm off shortly, but I may see about making a list tomorrow.
3 polls put leave ahead.
Cameron stands next to Hattie and starts going on about bombs.
Kinnock Junior gets up on his hind legs and says ITS ALWIGHT,ITS ALWIGHT WE WILL JUST IGNORE THE RESULT.
And now Neil kebabs Benn.
- and pb remainers start throwing in the towel
NEW THREAD NEW THREAD
I wonder if there are others like me.
