He just said this 👇
I have been very clear and consistent in my reports on Iran’s nuclear programme: while there has been no evidence of Iran building a nuclear bomb, its large stockpile of near-weapons grade enriched uranium and refusal to grant my inspectors full access are cause for serious concern. For these reasons, my previous reports indicate that unless and until Iran assists the @IAEAorg in resolving the outstanding safeguards issues, the Agency will not be in a position to provide assurance that Iran’s nuclear programme is exclusively peaceful.
Then it is SHAMEFUL UK are not actively bombing Iran nuclear programme also - as they were just days away from Nuclear Strikes on Israel, Saudi Arabia and the USA?
What an horrendous error of judgement from Starmer, the US must have shared this intel with his government over and over.
Kemi needs to lead with this at PMQs. Kemi is proven 100% correct now for her total trust in the US, Israeli and Saudi existential need to take this action, and how she would have backed and joined in from the off, not far too late.
I think you missed the word could and no evidence. This smacks of WMD and 45 minutes.
The paragraph is surely saying: yes sir! No one can argue with you they know for sure and can prove Iran weren’t extremely close to having and using the bomb.
What’s WMD and 45 minutes?
What’s WMD and 45 minutes? WMD means weapons of mass damage. In 2003 - when I was 6 - was a claim Iraq could hit UK with a dangerous missile in about 45 minutes, which the anti war brigade asked for more evidence, but the person who wrote the document died. There was claims because he changed his mind on it, he had been murdered, so Blair called an enquiry to get to the bottom of it. The bottom line from the enquiry was all those people, basically left wing people like Jeremy Corbyn, who opposed removing Sadam - who my Dad said was really called Madass but changed it to become a Bathurst - were the ones who got proved wrong and liars. The extremely left wing head of BBC was anti war, so government sacked him.
But this now is completely different. Trump has on his side the leader of IAEA, saying no one can argue with you, as they have zero evidence Iran definitely didn’t have tge bomb and about to use it on you and US allies in an illegal pre medicated strike.
If anyone wants a cheap holiday, the room rates at some of the fancy hotels are what we normally only see in the middle of summer or when there’s a pandemic on…
No offence intended, but it's utterly beyond me what the appeal of Dubai or similar cities as a holiday destination from the UK.
As a place to work, I understand the pros (high salaries and low tax) and cons (living there). But as a holiday destination? I just imagine it's like going to a hot canary wharf on vacation.
Pretty much. I’ve only ever been there with work and hot Canary Wharf isn’t far off. I quite like Canary Wharf actually, and it’s lively at the weekend these days too, but I wouldn’t go there on holiday. Singapore is also a hot (and humid) Canary Wharf but it does have excellent local cuisine, and natural greenery of which the UAE has none.
As it happens I was discussing just this point earlier, and we were considering the question of which tax haven would be the best place to live. Unanimity on Switzerland.
So, in launching a huge bombing campaign on Iran they apparently didn't plan for:
- Who takes over; - Interceptor shortages from sustained drone retaliation; - How to defend US bases in the region; - Threats to ships in the Strait of Hormuz; and - How to evacuate Americans with airspace closed.
Apart from Putin and a few other unsavoury characters who hasn't been attacked by Trump? 75% of UK voters loathe Trump, Being attacked by him is not the big negative you appear to think it is.
Who on earth thinks it is? It's a gift to Starmer.
It will of course cause an outbreak of schizophrenia on PB amongst those posters who are as knee-jerkingly hostile to Starmer as they are to Trump, but the Site's psychiatric ward can cope.
Those with more than a couple of brain cells should be just fine.
On Trump Brixian is absolutely right. Opposing him and being castigated by him does SKS no harm at all, useless as he is.
Its just what a terrible situation to be in that Trump is right and Starmer is wrong. Not often Trump is in the right.
You have been ridiculous since Saturday.
If this works out as anything other than a fiasco the Gods are on our side.
No plan, no post operation plan. This is incredibly dangerous.
Starmer hasn't played this as badly as he might have despite the views of the PB Starmer Derangement Syndrome sufferers.
Netanyahu is driving this operation, Trump is a passenger and Hegseth isn't even on the bus.
More power to Netanyahu's elbow. I am glad there is someone willing to drive a battle against the Mullahs.
I have been very clear and consistent for a long time that defeating Iran should be a priority, long since before Saturday.
Its funny though as I seem to recall a couple of years ago when the Gaza conflict began some here arguing that attacking Gaza was pointless after the October attack as it was really Iran who should be fought (as being behind it all) . . . I felt like you were one of those who said something similar, but I may be wrong . . . yet now they're being fought at long last and suddenly everyone's outraged.
That is a lie. I don't believe many were critical of the notion that Israel could recover it's hostages and chase down Hamas grandees. I suggested taking the top brass out in Doha was preferable to carpet bombing Gaza and killing 80,000 Gazans including women and children. You seemed rabidly comfortable with Bibi killing as many civilians as he could. Your blood lust over Iranian civilians is quite disgusting.
Wanting to see Iranian civilians living in a free and liberated Persia, instead of a dictatorial Islamic Republic of Iran, is not bloodlust.
It is what a great deal many Iranians want too.
Not much good being liberated and dead.
Say that to the tens of thousands murdered by the Mullahs.
Not much good being oppressed and dead.
What is wrong with you and your bloodlust? No one is mourning the Ayatollah. But Trump and Bibi are bombing the shit out of Tehran with the idea of replacing Khamani with some other Mullah. Venezuela is your blueprint for regime change.
What the use of the heavy bombers shows, is that Iran now has no meaningful air defences remaining.
Or the Americans have run out of proper targets.
The B-52s carry pretty much the same range of weaponry as the B1s. The B2 has a more restricted capability, IIRC.
The B52s are used either for standoff strikes with long Lange missiles, or dropping large numbers of smart weapons. The days of intervelometers and hundreds of dumb 250lbrs are long gone.
From memory, I think the B52s can carry the deep penetration bunker-busters and the B1s cannot. B1 goes in, destroys the surface stuff, command and control. F18/F35 joins in and kills the air defence. F22 rules the skies. B52 then does the deep underground destruction. Basically the USAF can over time kill what it wants.
I hope someone kills Netanyahu and Trump. Not fully supporting Trump is the first thing Starmer has done right since he was elected. There is no reason why the UK should get involved, either in favour of the evil Iranians or the evil Israelis. We are no longer a world power, thank goodness. The warmongers and Netanyahu lovers on here disgust me. Why don’t you all take up arms and head for the Middle East. You won’t be missed.
But, like with Iran, get rid of the leader who comes later
As much as Bibi would be no loss to the world would his replacement be worse.
I’d rather see Bibi serving time than six foot under.
That’s what happens when you let thick scumbags run your country.

Trump and Netanyahu have been funnelling weapons to Kurdish volunteers in Western Iran for months. They’re expected to begin an armed uprising in days, ITV reports.

Weapons of mass destruction, 45 minutes from Baghdad to London, Iraq war.
I suppose now with everything destroyed it can't be proved either way, lucky for Bibi and Trump.

As a place to work, I understand the pros (high salaries and low tax) and cons (living there). But as a holiday destination? I just imagine it's like going to a hot canary wharf on vacation.
If youve got money then this time of year you get perfect weather in luxury hotels with top quality restaurants of pretty much every cuisine in a safe environment. It's not for everyone but surely the appeal is fairly obvious?
They need to try to get it resolved. Hard to see how, this won’t end well. US allies in the region will end up being impoverished by their inability to get product to market. Doesn’t seem like Chinese pressure on Iran is working either.
Meanwhile production grinds to a halt in Iraq as they have nowhere to store it.
‘ BREAKING: Iraq's crude oil production is 'on the cusp of collapse' as its biggest fields are shut down due to lack of transport vessels and storage capacity, according to Financial Times report.’
For all the years that Hormuz has been a choke point, do they really still not have sufficient pipeline capacity to somewhere else on the peninsula?
Apparently not. RCS1000 or Richard Tyndall would be the experts on that I suspect.
But you’d think from a supply chain risk point of view it would have been in both their interests and the buying parties interest to put in place a plan to mitigate it. Previously it seemed to be more production from non Arab peninsula nations.
That went west when Russia made a major heel turn.
I was not previously aware of it but apparently the UAE gave just finished such a pipeline taking oil out to the East of the Straits. I think someone mentioned a similar pipeline heading North to Turkey.
Countries like Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait have a problem because to build such pipelines they need to traverse Saudi or Iraqi territory.in the case of Qatar this is particularly problematic as they are seen by the Saudis as being far too close politically to Iran
The enormous oil storage facility in Fujaira (that got droned) is supplied by overland pipeline from fields in the west of UAE.
I've driven past it - the storage tanks just go on and on.
Then you get to the power and desal plant, which I presume is also on the Iranian target list.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz after meeting Trump: “It is indeed the case that at least the American government, according to my level of knowledge and insight today, has no really formulated strategy about the future civil leadership of this country (Iran).
Iran has been on the point of a nuclear weapon since at least the 1980's. I don't dispute the IAEA chairman on that.
Trump and Nehanyahu's reckless adventure essentially guarantees Iran will now go hard for a bomb if it can, on a North Korea don't touch us we have nuclear weapons basis. You can't negotiate with those guys. Iran did in fact do a deal with the US after the raid last year and the US ripped it up. Iran's regime is a bunch of murderous thugs but if you want realpolitik you need to act in good faith and in accordance with norms.
Now maybe Iran would have gone for a nuclear weapon anyway, but as far we know the programme is intact so the expedition has so far failed on its primary objective, if that was its objective.
And by the way other countries in the region will be taking exactly the same lesson on why they should have a nuclear weapon.

We have got nothing we can put in the skies that the Americans can't do more and better. We have Eurofighter Typhoons that can drop smallish bombs and kill tanks, soldiers in the field, and air defence. The American B52s can flatten towns the size of (say) Swindon. The horrible, embarrassing thing is that we are out of our depth here.
Trump and Netanyahu have been funnelling weapons to Kurdish volunteers in Western Iran for months. They’re expected to begin an armed uprising in days, ITV reports.
Are the Kurds still willing to initiate an uprising after being betrayed by the US in Syria after fulfilling a similar role?
In any case, the Iranian government's military capabilities is clearly several leagues above Syria's under Assad. I'm not sure initiating a civil war is going to end well.
I've never seen PB so out of touch on something. I think that average Brit is going to be horrified at this. Starmer must do everything to distance HMG from this escalating shit show.

Now maybe Iran would have gone for a nuclear weapon anyway, but as far we know the programme is intact so the expedition has so far failed on its primary objective, if that was its objective.
And by the way other countries in the region will have exactly the same thinking.
Why don’t they just buy one? Or buy what they need to assemble one?
Yet we still come back to the central question - IF regime change is to be achieved, how is it to be done? Will we see some form of ground intervention by American forces or will there continue to be the "hope" of a successful civil insurrection against a weakened IGRC?
The second key question is what replaces the theocracy? The first principle, I think, is it should be up to the Iranians to choose their own form of Government and certainly not for Washington to impose something on them. Whether it's a republic or a constitutional monarchy shouldn't bother us too much, I'd argue, and whether Pahlavi plays any more than a transitional role is again something for the Iranian people to decide.
I note Eastern European Communism collapsed quickly and completely after 44 years and we know have 47 since the "Revolution" which toppled the Shah. There were concerns Communist practice was too deeply embedded in some Eastern European societies to be shaken off but I think that wasn't the case and it may well be theocracy's roots in Iran will prove shallow.
For now, though, it seems the Iranian regime still has some fight and they know the economic price to the West of maintaining a climate of fear in the Gulf far outweighs any military advantage obtained. The hyper sensitivity of much of the world to oil and gas price movements is arguably Iran's greatest asset and it is to be hoped stability can be restored to oil and gas supplies sooner rather than later.
At one level it is like trying to sort out Russia would be; there is no "democratic" tradition. Trump is assuming that whatever he is dreaming about would emerge fully formed from thin air. History shows that it will not, and that to try and do it with bombing is just nuts.
Iran had a minimal bit of advisory Parliament around 1905-6. But the British and the Americans destroyed all of that when we colonised it.
The USA trying to do this is imo as crazy as you would think.

What about in the middle of negotiations when Israel attacked?
Classic tactics of a genocidal regime we already know about. Ask the Gazans

The IEA are categoric about fuck all.
Precisely.
Unless you can be categoric that Iran is not seeking nuclear weapons, better safe than sorry.
I feel exactly the same about Holyrood. Who can categorically say that the Scottish government is not building nuclear bombs to force rUK to let Scotland go? Swinney has claimed he has a secret plan to force a second referendum. What more evidence do we need? Take out Holyrood now. Better safe than sorry.

The report is so wooly it has more holes than an old jumper
The IEA are categoric about fuck all.
Precisely.
Unless you can be categoric that Iran is not seeking nuclear weapons, better safe than sorry.
I feel exactly the same about Holyrood. Who can categorically say that the Scottish government is not building nuclear bombs to force rUK to let Scotland go? Swinney has claimed he has a secret plan to force a second referendum. What more evidence do we need? Take out Holyrood now. Better safe than sorry.
I believe @HYUFD has quick access to tanks. Just sayin'...
I've never seen PB so out of touch on something. I think that average Brit is going to be horrified at this. Starmer must do everything to distance HMG from this escalating shit show.
We are 1% of the worlds population and thousands of miles away. What we do and say is not going to determine if and how this escalates.

Who on earth thinks it is? It's a gift to Starmer.
It will of course cause an outbreak of schizophrenia on PB amongst those posters who are as knee-jerkingly hostile to Starmer as they are to Trump, but the Site's psychiatric ward can cope.

If Venezuela were the blueprint, the conflict would already be over.
Are you objecting to Venezuela being the blueprint, or wanting it to be? If objecting, you should support the conflict continuing, as I do.

Ssh! Whilst that's true, an awful lot of the national psyche depends on not saying that sort of thing out loud.
@SophiaCai99 NEW: President Trump tells me: “I really don’t care” if Iran plays in the World Cup this summer. “I think Iran is a very badly defeated country. They’re running on fumes.”
Iran is also absent from a FIFA team planning event that is going on in Atlanta right now.
And by the way other countries in the region will have exactly the same thinking.
Why don’t they just buy one? Or buy what they need to assemble one?
Iran definitely could have created a nuclear weapon by now if it had wanted to. The implication is that hasn't wanted to. More precisely there's a cost to possessing a nuclear weapon that Iran wasn't prepared to pay. No-one wants to be North Korea, not even Iran. That calculation will have changed.

I have zero evidence you are not a serial killer who wants to track down and murder members of PB. Should that be reason enough to have you arrested?
What’s this nonsense?
Just replying using your level.of logic.
I see. You are saying it’s a bit stronger to present evidence how close to the bomb, supporting the action taken to stop the bomb making and its use , than it is saying “but you had no idea just how close they were, so in these sort of situations, better safe than sorry” ?

I agree, while respecting the right of the people of NI to choose. I genuinely think that the existence of NI makes it more difficult to tell a positive, inclusive, and cohesive story about the UK. When Starmer talked about his pride in seeing the flags of the constituent nations there was one that was conspicuous by it's absence...
Reportedly, Ukraine have said that if the Gulf States will pressure Moscow to accept a cease-fire, they will provide support and help on air defences in return !
For a country twice the size of Ukraine, Iran's armed forces are pretty weak, aren't they?
Iran has been on the point of a nuclear weapon since at least the 1980's. I don't dispute the IAEA chairman on that.

This has nothing to do with nuclear weapons in Iran that are no nearer to being built, let alone launched, than at any time in the past decade.
It is political opportunism on a grand scale.
Netanyahu needs continual war escalations to cling to power as minute Israel is not fat war he's effectively in jail for corruption
Trump and Netanyahu are mired in Epstein. Trump desperately needs Epstein out of the news to stop leaking of documents he commuted illegal acts. I won't say more than that.
Trump forgets someone else knows everything about Epstein and Trump, that's why he was sent to Washington to get us best tariffs. He succeeded because he had the dirt on himself, Trump and Netanyahu.
Now Trump attacks Starmer for not bending over backwards like Farage and Badenoch.
It is highly likely that much of the evidence on Trump has been disclosed by Mandy in emails to the British Government.
Wouldn't it be bloody hilarious therefore if under parliamentary privilege a compliant Labour back bencher to confirm this at Pmq...
What uproar when sir Keir replied... I cannot deny that such evidence exists...
Farage and Badenoch outraged stunned collyuding with Trump.

Without wishing to resort to unparliamentary language I'll bite my tongue, but FFS. They are not going to instal the Shah's grandson ( much to his surprise) or some liberated and liberal academic. They "planned" to install one of Khamani's wing men, but they accidentally killed them all.
The B52s are the only planes that can carry the largest precision deep penetration bombs to hit deep bunkers.
GBU-57 is B2 only, IIRC - testing was done with a B52, but not an operational capability.

Bollocks. Zero evidence he didn't have a bomb? What about evidence they did have a bomb?
What about in the middle of negotiations when Israel attacked?
Classic tactics of a genocidal regime we already know about. Ask the Gazans
Surely if Israel was so genocidal there would be no Gazans to ask ?
Perhaps we need to compare percentages of say Eastern European Jews in the 1940s, Armenians in the Ottoman Empire in the 1910s, Tutsis in Rwanda in 1994 to Israel's actions in Gaza.
Trump and Netanyahu have been funnelling weapons to Kurdish volunteers in Western Iran for months. They’re expected to begin an armed uprising in days, ITV reports.

That is like attempting to take over the UK and only having a plan for Northern Ireland.
Ridiculous. No one ever has a plan for Northern Ireland.
I have a plan for Northern Ireland. Reunification.
I don't think many beyind HYUFD want to keep NI in the UK for any other reason than respecting the wishes of the population. But tbat's a pretty good reason.

Is Swindon a very oddly specific example here, or is it just me?
It's the modern Slough. 'Come friendly bombs...' and all that. Old Town is ok but the rest wouldn't get missed if it went the way if say Hamburg or Dresden.

Reportedly, Ukraine have said that if the Gulf States will pressure Moscow to accept a cease-fire, they will provide support and help on air defences in return !
For a country twice the size of Ukraine, Iran's armed forces are pretty weak, aren't they?
I read that they have been preparing for this eventuality, so even if they fail within the week airborne weapons wise, they can still cause a barrow load of collateral damage. If Trump puts boots on the ground they have lots of IEDs. They were, from what I understand supplying Iraq with IEDs on the basis of my enemy's enemy is my friend.
I've never seen PB so out of touch on something. I think that average Brit is going to be horrified at this. Starmer must do everything to distance HMG from this escalating shit show.
It's clear from the polling that Britons are not homogenous on this - Tory and Reform voters differ from Labour and Greens.
I don't think we've seen anything on PB.com but that same split. (Plus probably a gender split, but I haven't seen that breakdown on the polling).
I'm any case, if this continues the political debate is swiftly going to move on to dealing with the consequences of fossil fuels rapidly increasing in price. It did not save governments a few years ago when those were caused by Russia, so I don't think it makes much odds whether the government supports attacks on Iran. They're going to become massively unpopular due to the inevitable inflation.
Imagine what might have been possible to reduce our exposure to fossil fuels if all the billions spent on the energy price guarantee had been spent on energy infrastructure instead?

The fact that you actually consider Starmer's gum flapping on the subject of national pride to be of some worth is deeply worrying.

Check Mate Keir
Definitely. The campaign last year at least set the nuclear weapons programme back. The US/Israeli raids killed a dozen scientists and possibly destroyed centrifuges. If you wanted to freeze the weapons, you would do as the Americans actually did - have a deal with Iran. Which they have now ripped up. Which makes me think stopping the weapons development wasn't the primary motivation for the operation, although it is an after the fact justification for it
I've never seen PB so out of touch on something. I think that average Brit is going to be horrified at this. Starmer must do everything to distance HMG from this escalating shit show.
We are 1% of the worlds population and thousands of miles away. What we do and say is not going to determine if and how this escalates.
Ssh! Whilst that's true, an awful lot of the national psyche depends on not saying that sort of thing out loud.
I don't think it does. I'm a 50 year old gammon with all that that implies, but I have a perfectly clear headed view of the UK's importance. 1% of the world's population, and, what, around 3-4% of the world's economy? We're a second tier nation - less important than the USA or China, more important than Belgium or Uruguay, about the same.as France or Australia. I rarely hear it claimed we're more than that. But also, that's not nothing.
Reportedly, Ukraine have said that if the Gulf States will pressure Moscow to accept a cease-fire, they will provide support and help on air defences in return !
For a country twice the size of Ukraine, Iran's armed forces are pretty weak, aren't they?
I have no idea; that is one thing that Trump perhaps does not want to find out.
But I think Ukraine could give valuable advice on how to take out swarms of the 50k Shahed and other drones that Iran is reported to have in stock.
Not least because Ukraine's limitation is funding to build even more drones, not the capacity to do it.

If we didn't implement some form of energy price cap there would have been a payment strike by customers, the firms would have gone bankrupt and the government would have had to step in and subsidise anyway. You can't get blood out of a stone and you can't expect the bottom quartile of households to find an extra £3-4k a year without warning to pay for energy bills.

If anything this site seems disproportionately opposed compared to the data in the thread header.
28 support : 49 opposed simplifies down to a ratio of 4 : 7 which does not seem like the ratio of support to opposition here.
Besides myself, who else here strongly supports the action? 11% of the public apparently do, which is comparable to say Lib Dem polling figures and I think there's far more Lib Dems than strongly supporting the action posters here.

That is one of the stupidest arguments that get trotted out.
Nobody should be afraid of a few actual numbers.
And those numbers are rather inconvenient to those claiming that Israel has committed genocide in Gaza.
Because what do the numbers say ?
The Rwandan, Armenian and Jewish genocides would be well over 50% deaths, possibly over 80% or even 90%.
Whereas even with the maximum death claims in Gaza its about 3%.
Which is bad but less than quite a few wars during the last century.
Now I'm sure that Israel would eagerly expel all the people from Gaza - which would also be bad but again not something we haven't seen before, Nagorno-Karabakh in 2023 for example.
For info my suggestion - not original other PBers have proposed it - would be for Israel to get Gaza but in return would have to give up its settlements in the West Bank.

I can't tell whether you are being ironic !
It was already clear a day or two ago that the original Rubio justification for the attack ('they were imminently going to attack us with a nuclear weapoin' or some such) was more or less a fairy story, and the logic was tortured into a pretzel.
The last version I heard (perhaps version 6.2) was along the lines of "we launched a pre-emptive strike because we thought Israel would launch one anyway, so Iran might have attacked our bases, so we had to do one to prevent that potential for casualties." I have been very clear and consistent in my reports on Iran’s nuclear programme: while there has been no evidence of Iran building a nuclear bomb, its large stockpile of near-weapons grade enriched uranium and refusal to grant my inspectors full access are cause for serious concern.
Is Swindon a very oddly specific example here, or is it just me?

But I cannot see either side agreeing to that.
So, if some power killed 2 million UK civilians, that would be fine because it's only 3% of the population?
Genocide isn't only genocide if you hit an arbitrary target.

The rest of the world should refuse to play football in the USA and let Trump explain why it’s the first World Cup to fail to take place. We shouldn’t care about Trump’s response to our keeping out of his war against Iran when he won’t help Ukraine against Russia,

As it happens I was discussing just this point earlier, and we were considering the question of which tax haven would be the best place to live. Unanimity on Switzerland.
So, in launching a huge bombing campaign on Iran they apparently didn't plan for:
- Who takes over;
- Interceptor shortages from sustained drone retaliation;
- How to defend US bases in the region;
- Threats to ships in the Strait of Hormuz; and
- How to evacuate Americans with airspace closed.
As much as Bibi would be no loss to the world would his replacement be worse.
I’d rather see Bibi serving time than six foot under.
The most corrupt US administration in the history of the country .
Trump and Netanyahu have been funnelling weapons to Kurdish volunteers in Western Iran for months. They’re expected to begin an armed uprising in days, ITV reports.
I was there when his statue was unveiled.
Working in Bennetts Hill at the time.
My mom was a massive Harry Secomb fan and we took her to see Harry unveil it.
Should let democracy take its course.
In any case, the Iranian government's military capabilities is clearly several leagues above Syria's under Assad. I'm not sure initiating a civil war is going to end well.
Iran had a minimal bit of advisory Parliament around 1905-6. But the British and the Americans destroyed all of that when we colonised it.
The USA trying to do this is imo as crazy as you would think.
What about in the middle of negotiations when Israel attacked?

Are you objecting to Venezuela being the blueprint, or wanting it to be? If objecting, you should support the conflict continuing, as I do.
Of course if they got rid of the Wellgate centre....
Being serious though, there is no need to wait for a mushroom cloud appearing over Tel Aviv (which @Brixian59 would probably welcome) before acting.
NEW: President Trump tells me: “I really don’t care” if Iran plays in the World Cup this summer. “I think Iran is a very badly defeated country. They’re running on fumes.”
Iran is also absent from a FIFA team planning event that is going on in Atlanta right now.
possessing a nuclear weapon that Iran wasn't prepared to pay. No-one wants to be North Korea, not even Iran. That calculation will have changed.
Check Mate Keir

I’m wasting my time trying to analyse the logic and politics of war.
There is a lot of UK bashing hatred from Cyprus and EU v UK oneupmanship creeping into this now though. It’s like the world’s gone mad.
But I think Ukraine could give valuable advice on how to take out swarms of the 50k Shahed and other drones that Iran is reported to have in stock.
Not least because Ukraine's limitation is funding to build even more drones, not the capacity to do it.

Fingers-crossed the Mullahs have been vanquished before Christmas.
Keep away.
It was already clear a day or two ago that the original Rubio justification for the attack ('they were imminently going to attack us with a nuclear weapoin' or some such) was more or less a fairy story, and the logic was tortured into a pretzel.
The last version I heard (perhaps version 6.2) was along the lines of "we launched a pre-emptive strike because we thought Israel would launch one anyway, so Iran might have attacked our bases, so we had to do one to prevent that potential for casualties." How would that play in Congress or a Court of Law?
