Who the F came up with these awful Woke Overground names?
Windrush Suffragette Weaver…
Vomit
Day 1 of Big Nige’s government we change all these names to properly patriotic icons

Agincourt Bomber Harris Falklands Ripper (serving east london) Potato Famine
Controlled by TFL, I'm afraid.
Not by hypothetical Tony Hancock fantasists in Downing Street.
Maggie had the right approach.
What lines did Mrs Thatcher rename? She was Leader of the Opposition when the Conservative-run GLC changed the Fleet to Jubilee Line to mark HMQ's Silver Jubilee in 1977.
Monster storm over the Toon just now. Got back from the Hoppings just in time.
Just managed to miss the storms going southbound out of Cumbria earlier, but I had to drive like a complete Lune.
Thunder and lightning here in C-L-S and has been for the, last 30 minutes. I’m sweating like Jimmy Savile in a morgue here. Hope it clears.
Puns aside, I've actually been round and about in Huddersfield and the valleys today, and again we've got perhaps half a dozen showers, all of which have merely dotted the ground rather than entirely wetting it. The pattern is that the rain is splitting over the Peaks, and I think the Yorkshire drought isn't abating at all.
I can think of nothing more perilous to American democracy right now than going to war. Think of how Trump can use a state of war to strengthen his dictatorial control at home. Trump declared a state of national emergency in response to a nonexistent “invasion” by Venezuelan gangs. Imagine what he will do when the United States is actually at war with a real country, one that many Americans fear.
"Today, the United States itself is at risk of being turned into a military dictatorship. Its liberal-democratic institutions have all but crumbled. The Founders’ experiment may be coming to an end. War with Iran is likely to hasten its demise. Not that it matters, but count me out."

If only the whole country was like Richmond.
A country made up of Richmond upon Thames, Richmond North Yorkshire, and Richard’s castle in Herefordshire / Shropshire plus a few places that are just rich, without the -mond or -ards, would be very pleasant indeed, but possibly a bit self satisfied and lacking in edge to be complete.
I currently live in Hammersmith. London is full of such happy moments, not the hell Reform wants you to think it is.
The view that London is hell seems to be mainly pedalled by people who live in Dubai.
I’d love to say the Hillly Fields summer fayre is a case in point, and it is, but it was just a bit too hot and stuffy today under baking grey clouds. But in many ways it was exactly what people describe: thousands out celebrating nothing more than the annual festival in the park, every possible local interest group or business out showing their wares, children let off the leash to play with friends with just a time agreed to come home, the smell of barbecues wafting across.
People who say Londoners (or Parisians or New Yorkers or Madrilenos) are unfriendly and aloof are just judging from behaviour on public transport where people generally keep their own counsel. People are people, wherever you find them. As friendly or unfriendly as they’d be if they lived anywhere else.

Phoebe and her mates parents might have to sell their second homes.
My neighbour, retired squadron leader, was saying last night that since they would be unsure what solvents had been used they would have to strip down and check every component to see what damage, if any, had been done. In all likelyhood the actual damage would be slight but they wouldn't take the risk of flying the planes until they were absolutely certain everything was okay.

Completely nuts from one of the biggest cheerleaders of the global war on terror.
He's really suggesting it will net cost the NHS money?
Palliative care is expensive and currently under-funded. The bill could force the government to actually provide excellent end-of-life care, particularly if it's doing the ending and is vulnerable to litigation as a result.
I can see why it will be more expensive than just letting someone lie in a bed in misery. One big positive side-effect of the whole debate is there is now a bigger focus on those last few hours/days/months, whether assisted dying happens or not. We're not very good at talking about death.
Surely IDF / Mossad are going in on the ground. That would take absolutely massive balls and will take huge losses.
The Mossad are absolutely ruthless
They are going to come out holding glowing sticks of Uranium like Homer Simpson.
"huge losses."
Maybe
Or maybe they would find a load of exhausted, pissed-off troops of the regime who have had years of being beliltted and no pay but the glory of god and so on and who put their hands up straight away.
Some names from the past e.g Charles, Carlotta, Dodds and of course Plato
I think we had slightly more variety of posters back then with a wider range of views.
I remember Charles leaving but can't recall what the reason was.
He spoke often of his family and location, even posting the obituary of his father. He was one of the PBers who give so much private information away one could post him a Xmas card. But when other people brought it up he realised that it wasn't a private chat room and left.

Someone doxed him. Though to be fair, he basically doxed himself.
Wasn't it that everyone was relentless taking the piss out of him whenever he came out with something absurdly privileged? He was one of the most valuable posters for someone like me because I have no sense of that world at all.

Then fade backwards into the bushes and disappear?
Uranium metal oxides to a nice purple. Other that, quite boring really.
If you want to see some -
The “hollow axle” in the middle of that device is multiple critical masses of 95% enriched uranium. Yes, the bare metal. You are looking at the real core of a nuclear bomb. The King of Hell.

He's really suggesting it will net cost the NHS money?
I would say that is an absolute certainty. Not necessarily a reason not to do it but it has just added another item to the list of services the NHS is legally obliged to provide.

Old people cost money but as boomers are unprepared to let a single groat leave their grasping hands rather than be passed on to their children latest.

Yes, but that's one service.
Net, how many future services would the NHS have been legally obliged to provide otherwise that it now would no longer be obliged to offer after that one service?
A single treatment instead of multiple ongoing treatments can be cheaper, net.

Between doctors time, administering actual drugs, monitoring, oversight, lawyers….
I’m thinking that “NHS Exit” will need a Richard Rogers designed headquarters, lots of art. A huge number of NU10K on 6 figures knowing nothing…
I’ll run it for £684,463 per year.
Cancel devolution and use the Scottish parliament. Orwellian enough.
Devolution appears to have been at least sidestepped as apparently all the SLab MPs voted on the Assisted Dying England & Wales bill. No doubt the Anglo Brits will shortly be bleating about this assault on their democracy.

But they will still be obliged to provide all those services given that the vast majority of people will not be opting for suicide. A whole new permanent NHS department dealing with this whilst not being able to reduce/save costs in the other departments. For a start, bear in mind that in order to meet the need for immediate results given the 6 month timescale, this is not something you can have 'waiting lists' for. So it will have to be overstaffed. You can see why Streeting says it will cost significant money.

To be fair that is pretty poor given this is a devolved matter. And I say that as a long standing supporter of Scottish Independence.

Not really, considering that people don't just do one kind of treatment. There is no reason why you'd need a department solely staffed by people doing this, rather than this being something people do as and when its required.
And yes services will need to be provided to others after someone dies, but not to the dead person any more. You've not taken that into account in your costings at all. Any 'waiting lists' someone was in they disappear from if they die, or any other costs associated with them too.

If there's one thing that comes to mind with SLab - it's the very word "disappointed".
