Boris Johnson:'I believe I am well placed to deliver a Conservative election victory in 2024'In the last days I have sadly come to the conclusion that this would simply not be the right thing to do 'You can't govern effectively unless you have a united party in parliament'

Still time for others to throw their hat into the ring…
  • Sunak - Bob Russell
    Boris - John Hoynes
    Mordaunt - Matt Santos

No I will not elaborate further.

It might just turn into a coronation with Penny becoming Foreign Secretary.

The question now is, do his nominations switch to Penny (which would probably be enough to see her over the line) or not?

And even if they do, would she stand aside once the evening MP vote confirms Sunak is clear favourite amongst MPs?

'“Last night I did a lot of planning,” he says, “trying to find this morning’s best London train action. And passing through Willesden now are your standard passenger trains, and aggregate and intermodal freight services, but also…” he cuts himself off, hearing something in the distance. “There it is,” he says, as a train appears on the horizon right on cue. “It’s the British Pullman [...]”'

Was all a bit "sliding doors" this morning. Hesitated for a couple of minutes at the bus stop on the way to Gants Hill, and by the time I decided to walk there, just missed a westbound train by seconds, then had to wait 15 minutes for the next Central line!

This in turn made me miss the 1032 from Paddington to Didcot (in order to reach Twyford), so I had to get the 1045 service to Reading, which left 7 minutes late! Managed to get the 1145 from Twyford to Henley. Um, this was in order to visit all three stations on the branch (inc. Shiplake and Wargrave). Back in March, they were added to the London Contactless travel area (along with Windsor Central), and the four Marlow branch stations were also added in May. However, the Marlow branch was closed! Engineering works till Halloween!

And as if that wasn't enough, the 1441 from Reading to Redhill, normally going out of platform 15, the most northerly, then under the GWR main line to connect with the normal Southern Railway route towards Wokingham, was re-platformed to platform 5 at around 1442(!), thus precluding me from doing that little underpass beneath the main line!

    Oh, well!

Surely this'll end the ministerial career of the miserable streak of piss Jacob Rees- Mogg and Mad Nad Dorries

There's going to be a lot of by-elections. Uxbridge, Mid Beds, SW Norfolk, etc.

Does anyone seriously believed he had enough nominations to stand but chose not to ?.

All his allies look complete foolsonce again but it's no more than they deserve, they never learn. I hope not a single one of his declared supporters makes it into the cabinet.

Lying right to the end, fitting end to his duplicitous political career.

Still at least tonight we can all sleep easier in our beds! (Except BJO of course)

The maths was all wrong all day.

Why the hell are the media falling for this crap . He clearly didn’t have the numbers and is trying to make him sound like a martyr.

So. The stop Rishi lunatic tendency have lost their king. Do they now:
    1. Pile onto Penny?
    2. Park it and simply spend lazy days throwing rocks into the Sunak machine?
    3. Pap their pants and nominate someone else, if so whom...?

    Surely you're the expert?

    My book ends up:

    Sunak: +£445
    Johnson +£234
    Morduant +£265
    Starmer +£723

    Cashed out for now.

    Phew. I'm pleased for you.

27 months to close a 30pt gap with SKS for Rishi

Should be easy for him. Bet he's relieved he's not facing Corbyn, eh?

Or he did but was afraid of losing the members' vote. It doesn't really matter now.

    This?

The smart political move would actually be for Rishi Sunak to retain James Cleverly and Nadhim Zahawi in the cabinet. Send a clear signal he's moving behind the division and petty tribalism of his predecessors.

    Or this?

if sunak has seen a single horror film, he must know every one of these idiots needs to go in the thresher.
