But it does not imo insult other minorities. An attack by Conservative Asian politicians along those lines would be poor form. As others have said, the main point is policies to address the issue. If they are not forthcoming the charge would indeed be "poseur" and it would be merited. But I hope Labour under Starmer WILL have such policies. Jury is out on whether he is serious about the equality agenda or will seek to downplay it for perceived electoral reasons.

Evening all
I can't get excited about statues - seriously. The only one I can think of in my locality is the Champions Statue in Upton Park which features Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst, Martin Peters and Ray Wilson. Only Hurst remains with us of course.
The team has moved to Stratford but the statue is still alongside the Barking Road near where the old Upton Park stood.
As for bending the knee, again, I can't get too excited about that either. If you want to do it, fine, if you don't or can't, equally fine.

But it does not imo insult other minorities. An attack by Conservative Asian politicians along those lines would be poor form. As others have said, the main point is policies to address the issue. If they are not forthcoming the charge would indeed be "poseur" and it would be merited. But I hope Labour under Starmer WILL have such policies. Jury is out on whether he is serious about the equality agenda or will seek to downplay it for perceived electoral reasons.

I've had a couple of very interesting private 1:1 conversations this afternoon.
Emerging finding: there's a delta between the left-wing/activist/momentum supporting minorities - who tend to be younger students, journalists, or in academia or active in left-wing politics - and those who are professionals with an established career in the private or public sector.
Basically, there's a frustration that because they can find minorities in the former category some white people are assuming they speak for all of them.
