The Conservative party has definitely changed from the 80’s, now modern, progressive, inclusive. Boris wants to save this Conservative party from disaster. Truth is no deal won’t remain no deal, it just brings a few months added chaos before it all comes together in the same place as a hard brexit. So anyone saying they can’t support no deal are thoroughly dishonest hiding behind no deal often bigging it up up with chaff, by not admitting it’s any hard brexit they can’t bring themselves to accept.0 -

Johnson is assembling the most right wing government this country has ever had. The Tories have basically become the BXP. It's a huge gamble. But one that Jeremy Corbyn's leadership of the Labour party makes possible. I suspect it will win Johnson his election, but what happens subsequently will destroy the Tories for years to come.0

That said, I think there is every chance of a major multi-day strike this autumn. The pay rise appears to have been an attempt to head it off (rather a feeble one, given it was unfunded and will therefore either not be awarded or lead to redundancies to pay for it).
But between pension changes, increased workload, major issues in the examination system which look set to end up in the courts, the implosion of OFSTED and the impending bankruptcy of several academy changes, I think the teaching profession has just had enough.
Based on his record at Defence, it seems unlikely Williiamson's performance in the face of such action would be anything less than abject. Hinds at least was smooth and emollient and was papering over some of the worst cracks.
At least Gove, first time round, was a plausible choice before he proved a disaster.0 -
