The interesting question is whether Govey in his new guise as party loyalist can stand against Theresa. If he does I fear nightmare scenario. He wins0

Gove of the FO? Or Lord Hague?0

Javid supported the Chequers plan, wonder what he’ll do now. Boris standing has deterioated in the last two years, I wonder why he thinks he’s going to become PM.0

For Boris yes, for May, not yet I suspect - Boris' departure is hardly in the same league as Robin Cook, such damaged goods is he (his method of departure, leaving a conference we're hosting swinging in the wind further such evidence).....nor is he of remotely the same stature as predecessors like Howe or Callaghan....david_herdson said:

And how.
Now quite obvious why May put this off for so long.
Not sure that delaying this moment is helping very much. Just gives us even less time to sort it out.
Not a compliment but an observation. It has been said that May doesn't make a decision and waits for people to shout the loudest before she actually moves (thus meaning that everyone has to shout very loudly). In this instance it seems that the looming deadline was the loudest voice in the room.0 -

Technically, it's 50%+1 but you and I both know that wouldn't be anywhere near enough.
Obitus Sum Me (love the name) reminded me May got 199 in the 2016 ballot and I pointed out Major got 212 in the 1995 ballot (which was 2/3 of the Parliamentary Party).
I think May could survive if a third of the Parliamentary Party didn't support her but not any more - what do YOU think (oh dear, I'm doing the capitals now!)

How? There's no majority in Parliament for a rerun. It would have to be a government sponsored bill and a three line whip to tie the party to it. We'd have to own putting remain back on the agenda, and we'd pay for it. 17.4m people voted to leave, a majority of them our own supporters. I don't know how we could ever campaign if we put remain on a ballot paper, our party would be finished, and rightly so.Big_G_NorthWales said:
