Serves me right as I raised my eyebrows at Robert a couple of weeks ago for trading out at 3.4 (or something like that). Would that I had seen such sense.0 -
Oh dear. Audience argument quality disappears.0
-
So Farage just engaging in some (Arch)Bishop bashing0
-
This is why Vote Leave didn't want Farage making the case.0
-
Glad to hear some members of the audience telling this woman to pipe down.0

We'll see what happens with that.TheScreamingEagles said:

I get the impression that Cameron has let loose the dogs of war and was expecting to see the Leavers vanquished already. They're not. I wonder how much he has left. We know he has Legarde, and must have others but how much?0 -
@PaulBrandITV: So there you have it. Farage says leaving the EU is "better for black people" #ITVEURef0

The question is, is he a PB Tory scum (truly the highest echelon of scumdom)tlg86 said:

This isn't that great from Farage. Though questions from audience a bit personal - will be interesting to see if Cameron gets the same treatment0

Leave should use Farage more in the last sixteen days.0

I think I'm going to let it ride, it's not much cash and I still think the Convention bounce will get him into <4.0 which will give me some decent profit.Wanderer said:

This was never going to be easy for Farage. Many in the audience (including the woman who presumes to speak for Black Britons) just want to attack him.
It's clear why Cameron refused a head to head debate.0 -
Yes. Keep the wages of the workers down... That'll go down like a bucket of cold sick in Labour seats.Danny565 said:
Quite. These arguments from the "Remain" audience members would be the best motivator for traditional Labour voters to go "Leave".tlg86 said:Posho in the audience wanting to keep wages down.
That said, Farage is coming across terribly ("just calm down a little there").
That said, Farage needs to be better.0 -
I really worry Farage is going to lose it.
How much do we want to bet he complaints about bias questioners when he comes off?0 -

@DPJHodges: Nigel's right. If we take "European Union" off our passports ISIS will leave us alone.0
-
I'd imagine that EMA (European regulatory authorities) would probably move to the EU - but most of the continent still look to NICE for the QALY analysis anyway which is arguably more important. We'd just staff up our own approval authorities though - unless we simply entered into an agreement with the EU to maintain the Mutual Recognition Proceedure (which would make a lot of sense)PlatoSaid said:

Out 3.65 (from 3.6)0 -
In fairness, I don't think Nige is doing too badly at all. But I expect Call Me Dave to smash it in essay crisis mode0

Re: the US. LOL Trump's real price should be 6.5. Or 10.0. He is not going to win. Lots of Republicans won't vote for him to be Commander in Chief.0
-
Farage was a bit shouty but even I found his closing statement appealing0
-
Farage made good points but perhaps came across as a bit over combative and a bit attack-dog. That said, the format means it's tough to get a word in edgeways.0
-
Farage just got through that OK.0
-
I doubt that moved many votes either way - all felt like standard stuff - no big positives or negatives for Farage.0

True - about the only criticism that can be made of that performance.Casino_Royale said:

Trump U is a complete non-issue here.Alistair said:Just in case people are wondering what is happening in America - Trump continues to get the worst possible options on his Trump University scam court case, keep it in the news cycle and get a swathe of Republicans who have endorsed him to openly call his statements racist.

At least it would be if Trump would stop talking about it. Criticising the judge's rulings etc is fair game, but attacking the judge personally is really really dumb. Even Newt said it's the worst mistake Trump has made.
Trump needs to shut up about it pronto and move on to immigration, the economy etc which are winning issues - calling the judge's heritage into question is not.0 -

Nigel Farage definitely out of his comfort zone when dealing with an audience that is not made up of the Ukip party faithful. I thought he was very patronising towards the first two young ladies that asked him questions, and to the point of talking over them, not attractive in a politician. Also his sneering attitude towards EU opponents may work on the floor of the European Parliament, but it did not come across well in this format considering the importance of the debate.0
-
@faisalislam: very senior Vote Leaver told me, extraordinarily Farage wants to lose referendum "to do in England for Ukip what the SNP did in Scotland"0

David Cameron looks more like he's in a CGI movie everytime I see him.0

The issue for pharma companies in Switzerland (an important sector in that country) is that drug trials have to be done in the EU for EU certification and that's the biggest cost for them. If they are certified in the EU they are valid for Switzerland. Switzerland wanted to negotiate a new bilateral , which would allow cross border certification but the EU stopped talking to Switzerland years ago.PlatoSaid said:

I did, for the same reason as I found Faisal Islam (even more) annoying. When people ask politicians a question, they really should give them a chance to put more than a few words together in response before trying to talk over the answer they get.RoyalBlue said:

OT.
For the record I am extremely sorry that Steven Whaley has decided to leave PB.
He and I are diametrically opposed in our views of the way Europe should develop but, like a few other Europhile contributors, he has never hidden his views or tried to pretend that he was anything other than a federalist. He always argued his case politely and never resorted to insult nor tried to pretend that his view for Britain was anything other than what he strongly believed in. I think he was a great contributor to the site and hope he will one day change his mind.
For those criticising his departure it is worth remembering that not everyone enjoys the sort of forthright arguments that many of us are happy to indulge in. It takes all sorts and Steven simply wasn't the sort of person to accept the sorts of attacks that many of us are used to and accept without comment.
I am probably not going to change my bad behaviour and don't expect anyone else to either but I am still very sorry to see him go.0 -
It's not too soon to say it. He cannot win. He is see widely, across the US, as being unsuitable to be president. Even among many lifelong Republicans.Tim_B said:
