If you're Dom you can travel farther in law while having Covid than ordinary punters can get away with. Ok to squeeze in an eye test and all.

What does it amount to? Sir Humphry does not appear to be saying any more than we have been saying here for some time: that Boris does not seem to have fully recovered and that if after a few months' rest nothing improves, he might resign next year. Indeed I even posted much the same on the last thread when someone posted Rishi was 9/2.

If Sir Humphry had said Boris will resign next week, that would be useful inside information. What he actually said was already in the public domain.

Sounds as if Dom has lost patience with Boris's amateurism and sloth and has ordered him to stand down. Understandable - No-Deal Brexit and the Covid response will hardly be anything to write home about. Dom will want one last go at 'Whitehall reform' to secure him a legacy, but he won't get that with Boris, who seems increasingly bored and preoccupied.

What's the bad news they are trying to bury, or what are they burying this under?

This by the BM seems as effective as giving money voluntarily to a mugger in the hope that they will go away.

Will the Tate be similarly brain-addled with Nick Serota as boss?

Might just be reversion to and beyond the mean, but worth keeping an eye on to see if the negative effects of anti-COVID measures are starting to show up.

Of course having won GE19 and delivered Brexit and beaten Corbyn, if Boris stood down in 6 months and took Cummings with him while Sunak was elected to succeed him, then Sunak could make the compromises needed to do a FTA with the EU and reduce the risk of Scottish independence and take the flack from hardline Leavers, while Boris could go off into the sunset with Carrie and Baby a martyr to Brexiteers

They want to be seen as doing something so they don't become the next target.

They think this is 'something' so therefore they must do it.

Nothing positive has changed and instead they've smeared the legacy of the founder of the institution and probably damaged the reputation of the institution itself too.

Sunak will do very very well if he still becomes PM after the economic trouble that is coming. So far he has had the good bits: doling out cash like he was a John McDonnell tribute act.

If you are stood up in a pub you should have a mask on, ridiculous to turn people away who are being careful, but then what else do you expect from Tim Martin and weatherspoons. I wouldn’t cross the threshold of any of his pubs.

If Boris doesn't go quickly Boris would likely be going due to an enforced departure due to issues created by say Covid / Brexit.

And if that was the case his number 2 is likely to carry the can with him.

So either Boris leaves early and Sunak takes over or Boris stays until he's forced out in which case Sunak is probably broken goods.

I'm not sure it does, there's every chance the Tories might squeak home in the next election - with Johnson deciding to retire in say 2026. I think Sunak is in the frame for next Tory leader whatever happens - there's a danger of Starmer scuppering the bet via election but it's not nailed on.

If Johnson does quit in six months it would be entirely typical of the man. No Deal Brexit would be in full swing with Kent a lorry park, empty supermarket shelves and pharmacies struggling with meds. Time to head off.

What better time for the architect of this disaster to take up his new role as editor of the Telegraph?

My £20 bet at 250/1 with Ladbrokes on Sunak for next PM really requires an early exit by Johnson
As a matter of interest why ?
If Boris doesn't go quickly Boris would likely be going due to an enforced departure due to issues created by say Covid / Brexit.

And if that was the case his number 2 is likely to carry the can with him.

So either Boris leaves early and Sunak takes over or Boris stays until he's forced out in which case Sunak is probably broken goods.
    Thank you for your explanation

Going to ‘spoons should see you cancelled.
I thought mentioning Spoons would trigger some people on here.

I give Spoons a better chance of surviving than many other chains.
    So do I.

Price wise they seem to be much better than their competitors.

Full disclosure, I too have been in a Wetherspoons. Just the once.
They vary in quality. The one in Woking is the town’s one redeeming feature. It’s one big building site and quite frankly they’d have been better off levelling the place to the ground and starting from scratch.
The thing that always put me off Wetherspoons was the one in Piccadilly Gardens, the only I've ever seen anything kick off majorly* in Manchester was people fighting outside/getting kicked out of that 'Spoons.

*Excluding the time the Glaswegians trashed Manchester in 2008.

If you are stood up in a pub you should have a mask on, ridiculous to turn people away who are being careful, but then what else do you expect from Tim Martin and weatherspoons. I wouldn’t cross the threshold of any of his pubs.
    I agree pathetic.

Based on recent trajectory, by then the Telegraph will have sunk down to his level, as well.

Two state as a concept is essentially dead, given the situation on the ground. A federal one-state with considerable autonomy for the areas of significant non-Jewish population, equal rights and participation in the state, whilst leaving Israel in control of security and foreign affairs is now a far more realistic objective.

Mind you it does answer the question who on earth would want to take over the complete mess that is Deutsche Bank

Deutsche Bank has been very ecumenical in which German* politicians/parties they support. If anything... difficult... was to happen to DB, the entire German political establishment would be covered in poo.

    This TooBigToFail multiplied by TheyKnowWhereAllTheBodiesAreBuried.

*And other countries - Trump is part of the rule, not the exception. They have lent money to everyone....

I'm not sure it does, there's every chance the Tories might squeak home in the next election - with Johnson deciding to retire in say 2026. I think Sunak is in the frame for next Tory leader whatever happens - there's a danger of Starmer scuppering the bet via election but it's not nailed on.
I’m afraid labour have no chance while the likes of Long Bailey remain as a reminder of how low they reached with Corbyn.
    Wasn't Long Bailey sacked?!
