Why are you trying to overturn the will of the people? That will of the people lasts five years.

FWIW - I think a snap GE will result in an even more well hung Parliament (get your minds out of the gutter.)

Boris could easily have done more tacticals to keep Hunt 2nd.

Problem is if he now switches votes to Hunt it'll look bad if his score falls. Though I guess he could say it's nothing to do with him.

Since Andrew Neil has for a long time been a fervent Leave advocate, if he has suddenly found his own cherished belief system under attack from the beast that he has fed, he should take a long hard look in the mirror as to how that might have come to pass.

  • So this afternoon Johnson's supporters will have their revenge on Gove.

Things could turn very very nasty during the final two if Michael Gove and Sarah Vine decide to bite back.

    I don't know.

Firstly, it's a really, really bad time to be making enemies into even worse enemies. Johnson is going to need all those MPs' votes (as Alistair says, the spoiled ballots are a big concern). This is also the final round - over 50% for Johnson is a nice figure to trumpet. So I'm not sure there will be sizeable tactical voting from the Johnson camp.

Secondly, as happened with Stewart and Javid dropping back when they dropped out, there is some sense of "well done, old chap, but your race is run and I'm moving on". Hunt is at risk of losing people who feel Gove has won out amongst those who remained loyal to May, so let's give him every chance with a decent final round.

But he won’t, because it’d be too obvious and risk giving Hunt momentum and undermining his overwhelming mandate.

He’ll go up, but just not quite as much as expected and just enough for dirty tactics to be plausibly deniable.

I reckon he can horse around with a maximum of a dozen votes.

Brexit is more important than the union.
Surely it is the Englexit not Brexit then?
Well no as well the English and Welsh were brave enough to go for independence in 2016 the Scots were too frit in 2014 sadly. Shame but there we have it.
    Bloody hell.
Is this news to you that Scots were too frit in 2014?

Or while 45% of Scots wanted to end the union is it news to you that some in England feel exactly the same?
It's just incredibly insulting to a whole group of our fellow citizens. Grim.

You're too generous. It's England-But-Not-The-Cities-Nor-The-Wealthy-Bits-xit. Brexit is, after all, more important than Æthelstan’s union of the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms.

So I'm absolutely delighted to see Philip come round to the idea that those of us in the cities and the wealthy bits should secede from Barnsley and Great Yarmouth and thereby stay in the EU, because I've been advocating that for a long while.

Since Andrew Neil has for a long time been a fervent Leave advocate, if he has suddenly found his own cherished belief system under attack from the beast that he has fed, he should take a long hard look in the mirror as to how that might have come to pass.

Nah. He is a good journalist. If I asked you, for your day job, to skewer a Remainer you would have no problem in doing so and in picking holes in the Remain argument.

I have often thought that it would be fun, here on PB, to have a day when everyone argues the reverse of what they believe.

And there you have it. Absolutely fucking psychotically certifiable lunatic.
I backed YES in 2014. So why is it lunatic to not desperately want to cling to the union now?

Are malcolmg and his fellow Nats lunatics too?
    No. It's just you.

    Not to me it’s not.

By definition, it ceases to become Brexit if the Union is lost.

A currywurst seems as disgusting as a Hawaiian pizza.

I tried one once and it was foul, and usually smothered in gloopy ketchup. I tried it again in a different place and it was worse. It is a favourite of our teutonic cousins though for some reason.
It is always smothered in gloopy ketchup, that's the curry part. But I wouldn't claim it is a "favourite" of Berliners. It's more of a marmite thing.

BTW. Please don't call Berliners Teutonic Cousins.
