I always end up voting LibDem despite disagreeing with about half of their policies, and this time was no exception. But I still think Goodwin and John Gray have interesting things to say.

They should take him off and bring Toney on.

I am a Lib Dem "activist" and I haven't read our manifesto nor have I read the tens of thousands of leaflets that I wholesale and deliver. I can't remember the slogans let alone the detailed policies. Very few people ask about policies on the doorstep.

I'm driven by People, Positioning and Performance not by Policies.
Lib Dems have hundreds of policies discussed and approved at Conference.

  • If England plays as well as it did in the first half/the last five minutes, good game against Spain. If it's like the second half they will get destroyed.

    Optimistic 1-1 and then penalties

In amongst the counterbriefing against Badenoch today, I noticed that one shadow Cabinet member let the BBC know that a colleague had advised Badenoch that she needs to be “less abrasive”. Hmm. I’m no fan of Badenoch but this line of briefing has deeply unpleasant undertones. It’s more subtle than saying she’s too sassy or calling her uppity… but not by much. Hmm.

If England win the tournament, is it too late for United to hire him?

I know that we've supposedly confirmed the contract of ETH, but then again Red Bull extended the contract of Perez and he's totally getting sacked when he finishes in 17th again again in Hungary.

The stupid thing is this England team SHOULD be in the finals or thereabouts

    Best player in the bundesliga
    Best player in la liga
Several of the best players in the EPL

An abundance of talent only matched by Spain and France

Yet we’ve played crap and yet - we’re through to the final

    Quite perplexing

The SNP may not appreciate me saying this but ...

... there's something fundamentally British about going through with the pomp and circumstance of an oath ceremony, while also making snide remarks to make it clear you disagree with the oath.

I quite like it when MPs do this, and I'd probably do the same myself even if I were elected as a Tory MP (obviously not an option this year voting for Labour). Like Skinner making digs to Black Rod during the old Queens Speech ceremonies, this is just something we do.

How do the English feel about the Dutch? Sense there is no real animosity there?

Historically good friends and allies of the English.

Along with Portugal, one of the very few major European countries with no animosity between us or vice-versa.
They did invade in 1688. And then had history rewritten so that we all forgot that foreign troops had landed in England and taken over the kingdom.

I’m very much *not* a Badenoch fan and I said as much in my comment. That doesn’t mean I think it’s ok for her rivals shadow Cabinet colleagues to lean on racist tropes about angry black women to smear her. What next? Advising her that she should know her place?

This is what I decided to say, in protest.

Oh God, he's such a twat.
It's not been compulsory to swear an oath of loyalty for a very long time, certainly on grounds of conscience.

It is possible the law applies only to Quakers and Moravians, depending if it has been updated from 18xx or not.
