From the analysis of the operational systems of the IDF, an enemy rocket barrage was carried out towards Israel, which passed through the vicinity of the hospital when it was hit.
According to intelligence information, from several sources we have, the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization is responsible for the failed shooting that hit the hospital.

As one reply to that says - its massive if true, its massive if its a deliberate lie...
It is a rather definite statement, I presume they have comms evidence.
The thing that doesn't add up for me at least.
Didn't the Israelis advise for the hospital to be evacuated, they'd only do that if they were planning on bombing it?
Didn't they advise evacuating everywhere? What kind of psychotic lunacy would say "lets bomb a hospital" just as the wider world is coming to visit to express their solidarity?
A misfire of one of the Hamas rockets certainly feels possible - and of course their propaganda machine would try and exploit it.

It is not entirely out of the question Hamas blew it up deliberately. There was an Israeli strike on it a couple of days ago which would give - does give - plausibility to the idea they went for a repeat performance (and rather undermines their claim they would never attack a hospital).
And certainly Hamas are evil enough to attempt just about anything that damages Israel and were remarkably quick off the mark with the condemnations.
But - as Richard wisely said, let's wait and see what more comes out.
Mark Regev, senior adviser to the Israeli prime minister, has told the BBC the Israeli authorities are looking at exactly what happened and said its military would not "deliberately target a hospital".

From past conflicts with the terrorists in Gaza, we know that on average about 33% of rockets that they shoot at us, fall short and land in Gaza."

He actually says it three times, but 33% of his quotes get intercepted on the way here.
Arguably the best player in the world right now. Has the potential to raise a good, if not great, England squad to a different level.
I am already ready to call it that Messi Vs Ronaldo has been replaced by Bellingham Vs Mbappe
I reckon if Haaland played for a football superpower rather than Norway then discussion would be different.
Its the old argument that goal scorers, particular out and out goal scorers like Haaland require a team to combine in order for them to excel. Messi and Ronaldo in their prime, now Mbappe and increasingly Bellingham are showing they can make the whole game run around them.

If you could pick a player for any club in the world it is surely one of those three, and probably not Mbappe as much as I enjoy watching him given the drama he brings with him compared to the other two. Just Haaland for me, then Bellingham, then Mbappe.

He's a very good finisher who plays for one of the best club teams of all time. But I think his game is much more limited than either Bellingham's or Mbappe's.

I think Harold would have scored about as many as Haaland if he’d gone there two years ago

Cristiano Ronaldo was a fantastic player. But I think he’s fortunate to have been around at the same time as Messi as it means he gets mentioned in the same breath of one of the all-time greats.

The hospital story is gathering pace. This from the Grauniad at 9 pm
“An analysis of IDF [Israeli Defense Forces] operational systems indicates that a barrage of rockets was fired by terrorists in Gaza, passing in close proximity to the Al Ahli hospital in Gaza at the time it was hit,” an IDF spokesperson said in a statement.
“Intelligence from multiple sources we have in our hands indicates that Islamic Jihad is responsible for the failed rocket launch which hit the hospital in Gaza.”
“We did not strike that hospital,” Jonathan Conricus, an international spokesperson for IDF, just told CNN.
We do have someone with a paramotor who buzzes about on calm days from a field about 5 miles NE of Doncaster. He buzzed me at no more than 300ft (below max drone height) about a week ago. Wasn't terribly impressed.

BREAKING: The Captain Tom Foundation is set to be closed down following a series of financial scandals as his daughter Hannah-Ingram Moore fights to keep her controversial spa complex.
'Captain Tom Moore’s family have defended the construction of an oversized spa pool complex in their home that has been earmarked for demolition, saying it could provide rehabilitation sessions for elderly people.
A council appeal hearing on Tuesday heard how Hannah Ingram-Moore and her husband, Colin, applied in 2021 for permission to build a Captain Tom Foundation building in the grounds of their Bedfordshire home.
An L-shaped building was approved but the couple opted to build a larger C-shaped building containing a spa pool instead. When they submitted a retrospective application in 2022, the planning authority refused. [...]
The chartered surveyor James Paynter, for the appellants, said the scheme had “evolved” to include the spa pool.
He said: “It was felt that a larger building could provide this extra space for this extra facility going forward. The spa pool has the opportunity to offer rehabilitation sessions for elderly people in the area.
“They want to offer one-to-one sessions, only on a once or twice per week basis. They felt this extra limb to create a C-shape was needed to create this facility.”'

He's a very good finisher who plays for one of the best club teams of all time. But I think his game is much more limited than either Bellingham's or Mbappe's.
So look at his record when not playing for an elite team. 27 goals for Norway in 28 appearances is well ahead of Kane 59 in 86, Ronaldo 127 in 203, Mbappe 42 in 72 or Messi 104 in 177. And for Red Bull Salzburg scored in his first five Champions League games (including Liverpool and Napoli away) as a teenager.
He is extremely effective in average and underdog teams, just as he is in a top team.
So in conclusion we have the best player in the German league and the best player in the Spanish league. And lots of good ones from the English league.

2 years ago was in the conversation. Should have taken the Saudi gold.
Justin Bronk, a weapons expert at the RUSI think-tank, said the sound of the incoming missile, which was filmed before it hit the hospital, was not typical to the kind of munition used by the Israeli air force.
IDF formally blame it on Islamic Jihad. I wonder what Sleepy Joe will say tomorrow
The US will definitely want to see receipts.
The US knows for definite what happened as they’ll have every inch of Israel and Gaza under high def 3D aerial surveillance. But they will want someone else to give the evidence so as not to reveal how shexy their spy tech has become
The last time we lost in qualifiers when it matters was under the umbrella in 2007. We are going to Germany. Last chance for Southgate to turn the ability into championship delivery.

Actually, being pb.com, we'd probably have been far more obsessed with the Irish Home Rule Bill.

The only big ears I'll sing in praise of is the European Cup/Champions League trophy.
I'm warming to King Chuck the Third

You know, I am beginning to wonder if these Hamas chaps are entirely trustworthy.
The UK media seem to be getting cautious, after a start in which this was all obviously Israel. Sky, BBC, Guardian, Reuters, FT all playing it down the middle. The firmness of some (not all) official denials by Israel is interesting.
And, yes, the 'good chaps' theory of government is finding the middle east a hard testing ground.
NYT blog - The next vote for speaker isn’t expected until after 6 p.m. [DC time, eastern] as Republicans wait for Representative Gus Bilirakis of Florida to return from a funeral, according to a person familiar with the scheduling plans.
The contender status doesnt mean its certain. Bear in mind that a) most Israeli attacks are by guide bomb not high speed missile b) they have used missiles but not to anywhere near the quantity of the bombs and the reason is simple, they arent doing stand off strikes, c) you dont have to hit an arms dump to cause such an explosion; gas tank, oxygen, can be anything
Again we need to wait but its as plausible as anything else so far.
