The idiot Raab really did say all that nonsense about "enjoying the sunshine" tomorrow, didn't he? Granted, coming from the current Government it sounded plausible that it might be the case, but I nevertheless thought he might've been misreported.

God, enough morons are going to try to go out and sunbathe in it and end up dead or overburdening the hospitals, without senior members of the Government offering encouragement. Which part of the level four health warning ("illness and death may occur among the fit and healthy, and not just in high-risk groups") did he not understand?

    oh calm down FGS
Really? Is there any degree of idiocy coming from people who are meant to be in a responsible position that you would actually condemn as ill-advised? If, perhaps, the Transport Secretary were to suggest using the nation's railway lines and motorways as convenient footpaths for pedestrians to walk down the middle of, might this not constitute a faux pas?

Obviously people ought to know better, but a lot of our fellow citizens are very, very dense - hence the post a few minutes back reporting that ambulance services are already being swamped with thick as mince punters suffering from dehydration because they failed to compute that hot weather = drink something. Government ministers ought not to be encouraging stupidity, because it will cause more stupidity to happen.

Many people like to take the p*ss out of McDonalds and big businesses, but they must actually be really hard to run smoothly. Remember the palaver last summer when McDonalds here in the UK ran out of milkshakes and some other soft drinks? The amazing thing is that they run so smoothly for so long, not that they occasionally get problems.

I expect the Russians to find it hard to reach the same 'uptime'.

We are generally sensible people, but sadly there are plenty of idiots who think warn8ngs don’t apply to them, notably weather warnings. Hence people trapped in snow, washed away in floods and so on. No doubt that the extreme heat will pose challenges and it’s right to make people aware. However for many it will be something notable in their lives, not at health risk. And the sunny days, and particularly the mornings, have been amazing.

The idea that Penny Mordaunt has a “possible conflict of interest” because her brother is an LGBT activist is rather regrettable.

Only if the reports of him being with her in the Commons and influencing her work are true. I don't know if they are or not. That's why I used the word "possible". But, as you know, it is important to avoid not just actual or potential conflicts of interest. But the perception of them. This is a critical part of what Ministerial integrity in the widest sense means.

It is why, for instance, the courts recently ruled that a trans activist could not sit on an employment tribunal deciding a case in relation to a woman disciplined for sending gender critical tweets. The perception of apparent bias was the key issue. And that matters with Ministers too. Especially when making decisions which inevitably involve balancing the rights of different groups and doing so in a way which does not breach the law.

I realise that these concepts have lately seemed rather a foreign concept to this government and far too manyMinisters in it. But aren't they supposed to be wiping the slate clean? So we can justifiably raise these issues, no?

    Hello

Think what the Six Sean's special will be like, reuniting @SeanT, @SEANTHOMAS, @eadric, @LadyG, @Leon and now @Orka. Think how easily they could defeat the Woke Dalek working together!

Can we have Steven Moffatt write it though, not RTD. Because it would be too sickly schmaltzy otherwise.

Truss looks ill. Someone joked about her shitting herself on stage. It's not 100% guaranteed not to happen.

This is the kind of hard hitting analysis I come here for
With Leon banned, this is as good as it gets!
    Banned???
I’m relatively new here but older heads seem to think he has had many banned Accounts here and always rejoined so he will probably be back soon. Won’t he 🤫
He may walk among us already..

Liz Truss good with the Yorkshire angle and acknowledges she's not slick

First sign of humanity from her

An underhand lob to Tom about why he would be more honest than Boris.

Liz says what she thinks (except on tax, where she was supportive of the government approach, until now).

Also trying the old dodge of implying being a good presenter means you are bad, but admitting her lack of slickness. Unlike Casino_Royale I don't think it shows humanity, it's a trick.

I didn't even take in what Sunak said, so bland.

Fetterman is slaughtering Oz in Pennsylvania.

Don't know how this is translating to polls but it is hilarious.

There was an AARP poll out yesterday that shows Oz six points behind. Worth noting that the AARP shows the Republicans doing very well in the Congressional ballot. So, it would appear that there are a meaningful number of Republicans that - for one reason or another - just don't like Oz.

Every time Penny opens her mouth (and when she doesn't) I want to lay her more.

    (Not like that)

I'd just like to point out that I am in fact the carefully constructed seventh sock-puppet of Leon, and I resent these interlopers pretending to be me pretending to be someone else, when I am that other fake person faking an identity, not some cheap fake. I hope that is clear.

Liz once said that she would abolish the monarchy and implement the Lib Dem manifesto but she didn’t deliver on that.

Tugendhat dragging in the army again. Truss interestingly conceding she is not the slickest presenter, flipping it into "delivery" again. Badenoch and Rishi straightforward. Mordaunt boasting of her legendary video, hmm.

    = Rishi
    = Kemi
    - Mordaunt

Odd that you would attack others for being "two thousand a penny". When this is your 6th sock puppet.
So this is Colin Baker ?
Or possibly Michael Jayston as the Valeyard.

I was asked in a YouGov poll whether I'd support Boris being given a Cabinet post. I suspect it was bad news, as none of them put their hands up to say they would give him one.

Penny the most pathetic about it though, desperate to come in and try to explain herself (even though it was a hands up only question).

I would support putting Boris in a Cabinet, and then locking it.

Tom has mentioned Keir Starmer a couple of times - definitely looking further ahead than others.

Kemi fluid, but a bit arrogant to talk about taking decisions in government when she's been a junior minister for like 5 minutes. You can play the heavyweight or the fresh start, not both.

Oz is not a great candidate and it's not helped by the fact he lives in NJ.

Fetterman though has severe questions over his health. Still a question mark whether he pulls out or not.

The Liz line about duty to stay in post during a crisis is utter nonsense. She is saying that no matter what happens, no matter what a PM does, you can never resign? What a load of bollocks.

Badenoch/Tugendhat clash - unwise of her to let him in with the term "front line". Sunak pleasantly straightforward. Mordaunt again seems pleasant but waffly.

Liz not my cup of tea, but she's been punchier than Mordaunt so far, I could see her firming up with MPs in the fight for second.
