SKS now listing specific lies that the PM has told this last week. In defence of the "sexual predator". Heard in silence by Tory benches. This is Fucking Brutal. A drive-by political shooting followed by Starmer standing over the political corpse continuing to shoot whilst the victim hands him more things to attack him with.
Interesting, re Rishi. He'd have looked moe principled if he'd gone long ago, but at least he's gone now.
It is possible to be leader after sucking up to a completely terrible leader, of course. Step forward SKS.
It's astonishing that you should use this as a pretext to attack Keir Starmer. His actions prior to 2019 put him in a far better position to sink the Corbyn project after the 2019 GE. That's why he's hated by both the far left and PB Tories, the latter because he rescued Labour from what would have been electoral oblivion.
Sunak and Javed's actions by contrast seem to have had no wider purpose other than to further their own careers. It's not that they've contributed to sinking the Johnson ship, they stayed until they judged that it was inevitably going down. All they've done is to make sure that they were first into the lifeboat.
I don't see why Boris heading to the Palace would cause any sort of constitutional issue. He's the PM and the power has been put back to him.
It might cause a slight issue for the Tories as they are absolubtely obliterated (Don't forget we've got the "why did you call an election" -ve effect to play out yet) but constitutionally it looks fine to me and we'll just end up with Starmer PM instead of Mordaunt.
The Queen retains the right to refuse a dissolution request. Johnson only has the power to seek a dissolution he cannot demand one.

Because of Keir Starmer, we got rid of Corbyn and destroyed the left from the inside. He is the most effective internal political operator in Labour since Peter Mandelson, no question
His best performance I've ever seen him give. Started off poorly, especially missing the NI women in his opening remarks, but from his second question onwards he rose to the occasion.
Shirley the only way the ‘22 could justify changing the rules is if they have more than 50% of Tory MPs submitting letters?
Plus, would a change be fair upon an existing incumbent (which would amount to a retrospective change) and is there a legality which Johnson could use to bar this? The 12 month rule was put in place for a reason.

He was forensic and hopefully has ended Johnson premiership
Even if Boris does head to the palace it doesn't stop him being replaced as Conservative leader whilst we're in the whole 'lead up to the election' phase. It'd look shambolic, and Tory members probably wouldn't get a say on the Tory leader (It'd be a coronation with the timetable) but hey ho Dissolution and so forth takes a few weeks.
Not all Starmers gags working, but the tone of weariness at it all is spot on.
Boris heavy on Corbyn and Brexit, he's trying hard.
He's the political equivalent of a one hit wonder pop act, belting out the same song over and over and over again. First a massive hit, then a nostalgic tune, now just tired and oh so very boring.

But as Vernon Bogdanor has said the Queen always acts on the advice of her prime minister.

(((Dan Hodges))) @DPJHodges · 3m Given the context, that was one of the worst PMQs passages I’ve seen from a sitting PM.
The silence on the Tory benches is the absolute end. Its over. As in today.
I think so. And that might explain why Boris doesn’t look devastated. He’s accepted it, and is maybe a bit unburdened. He’s going to enjoy the theatre of his own demise
That’s a wild guess. Alternatively he is going to lock himself inside Number 10 and shoot at by-passers with an air pistol
(((Dan Hodges))) @DPJHodges · 2m It’s quite strange how when the aura goes, it’s almost a physical moment. Boris just saying words. Not resonating with anyone. Falling onto the floor of the chamber.
Ooof. Tim Loughton: Are they any circs in which the PM might resign?
PM: "If it was impossible to discharge the mandate I was given..then I wld. But frankly the job of the PM, when handed colossal mandate, is to keep going" > vote me down in HoC or vote me out, otherwise I go on https://twitter.com/BethRigby/status/1544643250849464326
I am opposed to bloodsports but might make an exception for this PMQs.
This is yah-boo PMQs at its best. He's got no support behind him, and its utterly transparent.
Its worth remembering that people around the world actually respect our Parliament for the bear pit of PMQs and the noises it generates, even if we often complain.

Jeez, the look of contempt on some Tory backbench faces as Johnson blusters on some more bollx.
I liked the rueful smile from the lady to whom Johnson promised a meeting with the Department for Levelling Up "at the earliest opportunity". It basically screamed "well, I hope you arrange it within the next couple of hours, or it ain't happening".
Labour is gearing up for a snap election amid talk Boris Johnson could call a quickfire vote to head off rebel Tory MPs who are mounting a fresh bid to oust him from No 10
The Queen is the ultimate custodian of the constitution, she must act to block this imho.
The Palace are going to absolutely hate getting dragged into all this.
A lot of laughter in the Commons and Boris seems awfully jolly.
Demob happy?
"I'm enjoying this!" Thatcher was jokingly associated with becoming Governor of the European Central Bank. Which organisation would be suitable for the liar?
Seriously. He needs to get SS into orbit. He needs to recover SH. Then he needs to get flight cadence up high enough to refuel a Mars-bound ship. Then they need life support capable of sustaining the crew for that period (*). They need to perform perfect Entry, Descent and Landing.
even with the progress down in Texas, there're are massive amounts of work left to do. And some of it is *much* harder than the stuff they've already done.
(*) This is perhaps the easiest part, and even then it is difficult.
Humanity will never reach Mars, they can't even go to the moon.
We did, before I was born. The real question is why send humans when you can send AI.
Nadhim Zahawi has a face like a smacked arse. Pondering he has backed the wrong horse?
The horse he has backed is Nadhim Zahawi. That's a man who knows the PM is gone and wants to stand for election as his successor from the position of Chancellor rather than as Education Secretary, or indeed backbench MP. I kind of see why.
Oh, do stop being a twat. The post you replied to didn't even mention Boris, you fucking moron.
No but you were doing your usual attack Keir Starmer because Boris is great thing. It was a joke that you didn't get, a well known joke that they put on t-shirts.
On topic: I don't think Rishi is going to stand for leader, and any case he has almost no chance, as @HYUFD points out. I read his resignation letter as implying that he wants out altogether, and who can blame him? He doesn't need the hassle, he's made CoE, he goes out with a good reputation.

Until BJ in 2019 the prime minister has always offered the Queen advice befitting the post.

SKS really using his background to good effect today. Boris looks like he was utterly defeated while he was saying that.

We are never friends and will not be, because you take such an odd line on it as we've discussed before - that's a matter for you
