RIP Judge Scalia.Speedy said:
The debate is just 3 hours away, we will see the impact first hand.TheScreamingEagles said:Antonin Scalia has died. That's going to complicate the primaries.
But who does this favour?
It solidifies each party behind more firmly ideological candidates, and behind its eventual nominee. Bad for Trump in primaries I think, but better for him if he does get the nomination, and it should stop Bloomberg stone cold.
EDIT: I am assuming that, surely, Obama will not be permitted to appoint one of his Communist Islamist nominees by the God-fearing United States Senate.0 -
I don't see how. It's still extremely likely that the next President will replace Ginsburg, Kennedy and Breyer at the least. Replace them with conservatives and - boom.Speedy said:it undercuts the argument that the next president will appoint supreme court replacements since it's too late for that, Obama will get the opportunity now, it ruins Hillary's point too.

You missed my earlier comments - I think he is as unrealistic on the right as are those on the left who are very emotional about their politics and therefore fail to grasp what motivates voters. I expect a defeat for Leave will produce a similar twitter meltdown to that after the election. If the result is the other way I doubt if it would be the same.Richard_Tyndall said:

People are beginning to wake up to the hole that Britain is in. Placed there by the elite politicians of all the major parties and their many supporters in Business, Education and the Arts.
They know in their bones that Britain is being run by Corrupt Charlatans and liars, brought about by the chief Charlatan and Liar, "call me Dave" himself.
Only today these so called politicians want to start a war with Russia, egged on by that madman Kerry of the USA, and who is now interfering in our referendum.
The next few weeks could see dirt flying all over the place; but I know who will get the most mud on their faces - the British People, as they see their nation subverted from within.

Hold on but it says they had loads of losses (which they rolled over, which is standard) and they only paid dividends in 2015, so it doesn't sound like they have been profiteering. And personally Osborne has been paid a grand total of £1200 for his massive 1% stake in the company.

Appointing a successor will add spice to the election, and maybe we'll be able to bet on it. Republicans led by Cruz might block Obama's candidate, but that only delays things if Hillary wins the White House. On the other hand, Obama might feel obliged to nominate a more neutral judge to placate Republicans, who then will face a double-or-quits choice based on who they think will win the presidency with the freedom to appoint a more partisan justice.Scott_P said:

He won't defeat them this time but neither can he concede to them without a fight, so it will be stalemate
Instead, he will dare them to keep voting down a qualified liberal nominee and the conflict will remind liberals why they really need to support Clinton if she wins0 -

SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES
MILLER v. ALBRIGHT, SECRETARY OF STATE
CERTIORARI TO THE UNITED STATES COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA CIRCUIT
No. 96—1060. Argued November 4, 1997–Decided April 22, 1998
Justice Scalia, with whom Justice Thomas joins, concurring in the judgment.
'...The Constitution “contemplates two sources of citizenship, and two only: birth and naturalization.” United States v. Wong Kim Ark, 169 U.S. 649, 702 (1898). Under the Fourteenth Amendment, “[e]very person born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, becomes at once a citizen of the United States, and needs no naturalization.” Ibid. Petitioner, having been born outside the territory of the United States, is an alien as far as the Constitution is concerned, and “can only become a citizen by being naturalized, either by treaty, as in the case of the annexation of foreign territory; or by authority of Congress.” Id., at 702—703; see also Rogers v. Bellei, 401 U.S. 815, 827 (1971)...' [my emphasis]
Hence, the late Justice Scalia, in concurrence with numerous previous judgements of the SCOTUS, explains that people situated as Ted Cruz are naturalized citizens of the US, and are aliens as far as the Constitution is concerned.
Ergo, not a natural born citizen, and therefore ineligible to ascend to the Presidency...0 -

It is depressing. Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin both look a total waste of money and Depay (who in fairness added marginally more purpose to the general meandering forward when he came on today) is struggling to get in the team. I am really not sure about Darmian either. But it is Di Maria which still sticks in the craw. It made Fernando Torres look like a shrewd investment for Chelsea.Big_G_NorthWales said:
