I have the suspicion that Watson will really be the power behind the throne.
He sounds like he want's to bully Corbyn and be his bouncer at the same time.0 -

Tom Watson talking absolute bollocks that is contradiction to his own political career.0

I think it's because the word that springs to mind when I hear his name is 'pugnacious', and of course in a victory speech he is bound to be more reasonable.alex. said:

I don't really know Watson well. He's coming across alright, if trying for folksy.
Ok, 'Only Labour can speak for the real Britain' is a line of supreme bullshit though. That's the the partisan thinking of labour and Tories that leads to them doing shady things because anything is worth doing as only they can help Britain.0 -

He was a key member of El Gords "Forces From Hell" played a key part in forcing out Labour's most successful leader in history, is obsessed with alleged Westminster pedophile rings in the 1980's (especially if they involve Tories) and wants to shut down Rupert Murdoch's business interests in the UK....kle4 said:Watson: 'Being prepared is not something I'm renowned for'.

Emily Thornberry was one of the ''morons '' who nominated Corbyn and gave the LP the chance to commit suicide0

Watson looks like he could play the Prescott role well, if he had a Blair to contrast against.0
-
I wonder if Watson's victory is made to look more overwhelming than it actually is, due to them not counting the final-round votes. I suspect the bulk of Flint's second preferences would've gone to Creasy, perhaps enough to reduce Watson's winning margin to something like 55-45.0

Markets are evil now, according to Comrade Watson0

"It's not a Conservative country"
He might have to have a word with the voters about that.0 -

He may try, but he's been serially incompetent. He tries to be Mandelson, and ends up being caught out. He tries to be Grand Vizier, and ends up as Iznogoud.Speedy said:I have the suspicion that Watson will really be the power behind the throne.

Tom Watson is not a rhetorical person, he ended his speech with a "watch your backs" warning to the Tories, yeap he will play the bouncer mob type.0
-
Sweating a lot under those lights - the perils of politics.
Fair for him to warn 'sniggering Tories', it is too soon to write off 2020, but let us not forget plenty of Labour commentators have been saying the same thing, Tom.0 -
I predicted Cooper would win because she was the pragmatic and sensible choice ; I predicted that Tessa Jowell would win due to the same reasons , but the LP are neither pragmatic sensible or favourable for women0

Prediction:
Between now and the Autumn statement 2016 George Osborne to announce the scrapping of the 45% tax-band.
