It’s amusing that in my line of work, the term “Trump related events” has recently replaced “force majeure” in common parlance

That is not a headline I was expecting, so thank you for bringing it to our attention.

    Is Robert Jenrick actually braindead?

He’s implied he has control over London Zoo. Is he planning to nationalise it?

He can ban discrimination based on benefits claimant status if he likes.

We (well, the EU) banned car insurance sex price differences, for example. Remember Sheila's Wheels?
He said London Zoo is a public institution, implying we have some control over it. But it’s run by a private charity?

As usual with these people, they hate government interference until they want do some political virtue signaling then they are all for it.
Right wingers may pretend otherwise but love government interference, as long as it's interfering with other (little) people's lives and not interfering with their own right to do as they please.

Left wingers by contrast are quite open that they like government to interfere in other people's lives.

    Same.

Trumped has also replaced stepmommed but that’s because a client has requested a SAR and in one of the internal notes a colleague has described the client’s situation as ‘stepmommed’ and the client’s lawyers have asked what ‘stepmommed’ means.

The ombudsman and the (courts if it gets that far) are going to have so much fun with the reply/explanation I had to issue.

If you have a hammer, you see nails. If you're an MP, you see solutions coming from what government does.

Love to see this: A new poll conducted in Hungary has shown that JD Vance's visit to Budapest caused Putin puppet Viktor Orbán's party to LOSE 3% of its support. ⬇️

"Zack Polanski's Green Party has been accused of blocking the construction of tens of thousands of homes across the country in a furious row with Labour.

The Greens have attempted to block at least 42,000 new homes - including at least 13,000 affordable homes - since 2018, according to new analysis by Labour.

Mr Polanski's party has been accused of trying to block housing across 25 council areas - including efforts to stop an 'eyesore' car park being turned into 300 homes in Exeter."

Ed Miliband has approved Britain’s biggest solar farm despite objections from nearby residents who likened it to Chernobyl.

It will cover seven square miles of farmland in solar panels, an area 10 times greater than London’s Hyde Park.

Hilarious from the locals. But a sensible decision.

Not exactly England's green and pleasant lands.

I'd rather have dark satanic mills.

Northern Irish licensing regulations are insane. Bullhouse brewery had a nightmare getting their taproom open. Craft Beer Channel covered them recently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqjEP0vkpEg

As I understand it to open a new pub (or even a shop selling booze) you had to acquire an existing place selling booze and shut it down (so called acquire and extinguish). It’s a bit like the old New York Taxi Medallion nonsense.

"More than 20,000 students have been told they were given maintenance loans and grants in error and now face demands to immediately pay the money back.

The students, who are all studying weekend courses, received letters from the Student Loans Company (SLC) or their university saying their courses had never been eligible for maintenance loans or childcare grants.

One letter, from the SLC and seen by the BBC, says the student's university provided incorrect information and "unfortunately, they didn't tell us you only attended on the weekend".

It states that any "over-payment" will have to be repaid.

The BBC understands courses at 15 universities and colleges including London Met, Bath Spa, Leeds Trinity, Southampton Solent and Oxford Brookes are affected."

I love the way the public sector make their own incompetence your problem.
It's actually their problem twice, I imagine. Firstly the government will demand they pay back money they've spent, and secondly when they get a job later on they will be forced to pay tax to cover the higher national debt arising from the defaulters.

So the only rational thing to do is evade the demands for repayment, and live a life on benefits after you graduate.

Benefit fraud and welfare dependency - socialism in action in 21st century Britain.

This, a thousand times this. Our local Greens say they want to build affordable housing, but every single development, they oppose.

Labour are by default the least NIMBY party. But that’s not saying much.

I don't think it's that difficult to argue.

America goes to war with some brown folks, America pulls out declaring victory, situation is not necessarily that much better afterwards, is pretty much the standard MO.

This one is at least far shorter in duration and less costly in British lives than they usually are.
Albeit with a greater impact on world energy prices, with a corresponding negative impact on people's lives.

It’s hardly the two decades of failure in Afghanistan, under four presidents of both colours, at a cost of hundreds of lives and trillions of dollars.

But hey, you get more likes and clicks if you start with OrgangeManWorst and work backwards.
We also need to get our story straight on Trump's psycopathy - either he is a hardened nutter who would gladly wipe Iran off the map, or he is a blowhard who never means it. He can't be both.
He can be both. He is a man ruled by base instincts, but with the long-term planning of a mayfly, so he can easily switch from genocide to backing down.
A risible abuse of logic but OK.
