I trust that St John will maintain the hallowed Christmas Tradition of telling his legendary Kipper Tie Joke.

That was Peter from Putney! I will give him a nudge to see if I can persuade him to regale us with the joke once again.

Meanwhile I'm off to bed. See you in the morning. As in previous years, please keep the chat going here about anything at all as usual, while also putting up answers to some of the clues.

Sprouts do seem a bit bitter this year (maybe not enough frosts?) when i boiled them for our early Christmas dinner on Saturday, so I roasted the remaining sprouts with some chopped streaky bacon , a few mixed herbs and a drizzle of olive oil for 30 min or so with the Christmas Eve ham. They were much nicer and noticeably sweeter by being mildly caramalised.

    Happy Christmas to all!

    Christmas Morning All :)

It may not be quite so cryptic but trying to find the winners of 75 races at 11 meetings from 714 runners at tomorrow's British and Irish horse race meetings is a challenge of sorts.

Merry Christmas to all on PB, whether contributor or lurker and to the latter I'll simply say, come and join the debate. It is the bear pit and some of the bears have claws but don't let that stop you.

I hope whatever you're stuffing, plucking, chopping, grating, boiling, frying, grilling, roasting etc, etc today is as you want and you and yours have a wonderful day.
