Trump’s second administration beckons - they have a choice. They can either spend the next years looking back or spend them looking forward.
If all they do is seek revenge or settle petty personal scores with their political and cultural opponents, nothing much will happen and it will be four wasted years for America and the world.
If, however, the new administration is determined to follow through on its admittedly rather limited policy platform - long on generalities, short on specifics - then we will witness an experiment in governance such as we’ve not witnessed for a while.
IF it works, Trumpism will become the new political and economic orthodoxy for the west and beyond but if it fails America will be diminished and those who follow Trump and the MAGA crowd will have a huge task repairing the mess.
I suspect ultimately it will run up against its own contradictions and that will be its downfall.0 -

Social Media dies when it ceases to be social.
This so called victory is simply further enshitification of social media, which may quickly become a vicious circle of decline. The backlash against the social media fad is already growing. Who is to say in 2 or 3 years time whether these empty barrels will have anything like the kind of value they have today?
So the right can claim a couple of "victories" in the social media wars, but in the long term I suspect- as with much else about Trump- any victory will be a Pyrrhic one.
The chances of a guy with Trumps track record actually being able to make the transformation he boasts of, are not particularly good.
