The LDs step up the tactical squeeze on LAB voters in Devon – politicalbetting.com

The technique of releasing canvassing data as if it was a proper poll in order to put the squeeze on Labour voters was first used by the Lib Dems in the Richmond Park by-election in 2016.

Like the Tories nowhere.
PM’s former ethics adviser thinks the incident could be a matter for his successor.

But not in politics or sport.
It comes as the Foreign Affairs Committee plans to question Liz Truss about the alleged incident next week.
MPs are discussing questions for the Foreign Secretary ahead of a committee appearance.
More like failure or ....
Tiverton & Honiton is going to be a thumping LibDem win.
It will send a shockwave and probably hasten the end of Boris Johnson.

It's going to be big but here are the list of record swings:

❌ Strikes that will hit workers, students, and our Armed Forces.

Sorry does anyone here believe this crap?
Transport Sec @grantshapps: 'If I thought there was even a one in a million chance that my being in the room would help sort it out, then I'd be there.'
So in summary, Grant Shapps is a waste of space.

Thread/hymn of phatboi hate from a lifelong tory
Just that you won't be able to sleep on one leg, I think.
The rebels blew it by not waiting to send their letters in until this Friday, after the by-elections. They will have to try again next spring assuming they can find some pretext to force another VONC.

51% of voters think the Tories oppose today's strikes, only 8% think Labour do however

This caller is furious about today's rail strikes and he takes aim at RMT boss Mick Lynch and a 'lacklustre and spineless' Transport Secretary Grant Shapps.
What would Thatcher do?
I am not sympathetic to Tube drivers (albeit they are I would argue paid what people should be paid, it's others that are paid too little).
Do you honestly believe these are Labour's strikes? How did Labour cause them, in Government 13 years ago?
I've heard a similar anecdote from the true blue faithful.
How on Earth can it be Labour's fault, they haven't been in Government for 13 years!
In London Johnson lost more days than Khan has! Are the London strikes Johnson's strikes?
But given I pointed this out 5 times yesterday I'm going to take your continual argument that black is white is intentional....

Even more remarkable given Lujan Graham is Hispanic and her opponent is not.
But do the PBTories blame HMG in London for making a much worse mess? No, they do not.

(I know it’s the Mail, but the story is an aggregation of Tweets from MPs themselves).
Labour's lead in the National polls is a modest 6% or so and if that were reflected in the by-election the Tories would hold comfortably. If they lose it can only be a verdict on the Leader.
No?
£59k drivers is today's.
"The trouble with using the figure for train drivers in a debate about the strikes is that the drivers are represented by their own union, Aslef, which says that 96% of train drivers in England, Scotland and Wales are its members, and most of the remaining 4% are not union members at all.
Aslef will not be taking part in the national strike, although they have action of their own taking place at the same time, with drivers at Greater Anglia striking on 23 June. A strike on Hull Trains on 26 June has been cancelled. Aslef are also balloting for action on several other lines."

2. Similarly, the "Labour's strike" line. RMT are not affiliated to Labour. Their leader is not a member of Labour. Yet the *Tories* have forced this strike into effect by refusing to let Network Rail negotiate.
Its the Shapps strike.
EXCL: Boris Johnson suggested TWO plum jobs for wife Carrie - including one with the royals. But both ideas were vetoed by aides.
https://mobile.twitter.com/PippaCrerar/status/1539005339814830080
"Carrie was perfectly well qualified to get that £100k job I wanted her to have. I dug out the old advert to prove it:
WANTED: Chief Of Staff – the ideal candidate will be a young blonde woman who is shagging the Foreign Secretary behind his wife’s back."
I did mention my displeasure at the slew of 3-day U-turns to the canvasser. Answer came there none.
And this has been pointed out here pretty well every day in the last week. Every time we've had a discussion about the strike.
Tory ministers also using the 59k line on the radio yesterday. Do they not know, either ?

"My campaign will focus on delivering on people’s priorities for the area including improving transport links, supporting farmers and businesses. Working with Government to secure further investment in the area’s infrastructure including road upgrades for the North Devon Link Road and A303, a new train station for Cullompton and rollout of rural broadband."
Implies a de novo project. Yet funding already secured. Decidedly ambiguous wording .

Russia supporting the strikes.
I do not know what the Latin for "I'm in charge" is, but Primus inter pares might as well be chucked out the window these days.
It is a lie, but in post-truth politics it works.
Arguing about who did what and walked out of where yesterday is completely beside the point. The current legislation requires quite a complicated and time consuming process to be gone through by the union before the strike can be legally called. What has been happening in the last few weeks to reach a deal here? The answer seems to be nothing.
Faced with no offer and 9% inflation a strike was inevitable. Labour MPs are right to support a workforce that is being treated so shabbily. But this is just the start. We are going to see this in almost every part of the public sector over the next few months as the government struggles with no money and staff struggle with the CoL crisis.
They are now demanding pay rises way above and beyond what the rest of us have any right to expect from our own employers, and protection from redundancy no matter the changed economics of their industry.
If they’re successful it won’t be “The Man” or the Tories that will be coughing up for it but every other working person in this country.
Once upon a time we had a party with the core mission of standing up for the rights of workers against holders of capital. Where the f*** are they? Were Starmer a smarter politician, a more moral human being and a true defender of workers, he’d be proclaiming these strikers a national disgrace and leading lines of workers to break the pickets.
THE words ‘women’ and ‘girls’ have been erased from a Scottish Government-backed advice leaflet teaching youngsters about periods.
The taxpayer-funded Young Scot information instead calls women "those of us that have both our ovaries and a womb" and "half the world’s population".
But information for males about puberty and their voice breaking refers to them as ‘men’ and boys’.

For reference we picked up that Cloudflare was down earlier but were able to mitigate by changing our DNS to point at the servers directly. Now I need to work out how what the solution would be if we can't get at cloudflare's admin serve to change the DNS there (still a single point of failure but a smaller one to most companies).
