The lack of demand for the NHS is getting crazy at Winchester hospital, this week they are having meetings to discuss redundancies in all areas. They have 3 times the staff they need, they are not getting referrals from GPs and the whole Covid testing procedure is putting people off from having surgery. They were expecting some return to normality but it is not happening. They have just a few Covid patients and have not admitted any new ones for a while.

They are being forced to take annual leave. They can see no change coming and with Covid dying out it’s a situation that cant continue.

The argument is that they have rights. The right to exist unmolested by a species from another planet.

Of course, our species has trampled over the rights of every other species on this planet and huge swathes of the landscape, so I fully expect us to extend this behaviour beyond the earth. Sadly.
You could say that Covid-19, Ebola, HIV-Aids, Sars etc are payback for trampling over every other species on our planet and treating animals with no respect.

As Dr Jane Goodall has argued we brought coronavirus on ourselves because of the way we treat animals.

We never learn - perhaps these are increasingly powerful warning shots and the next one will wipe us out completely, who knows?

Not sure, there are plenty of spare beds, the problems are of capacity in theatres and ICU for planned admissions.

Every case takes twice as long at the moment because of PPE etc. There are a lot of AGP procedures.

Now that all inpatients are being swabbed, we are finding cases in the non covid wards, and within days others identified nearby. Hospital acquired transmission is proving quite a problem, so not safe to scale back PPE provisions as yet.

We have the same number of covid-19 inpatients as we did a month ago. Not much lightening here.

He wasn't sacked, his contract expired at the end of the season. The reality is he wasn't good enough to continue as a starter *. His final season he was 1–10 (W/L).

Others who took the knee (and still do so) and are still in the league.

    * He was probably good enough to be a backup. Now I am sure some owners didn't want him because they worried about the coverage (which totally isn't fair), but he has also been a total arse when the league has offered him a chance to try out.

I was looking at the Arizona CV-19 figures. Now, AZ is seven million people and didn't really have a massive CV-19 problem originally.

Restrictions began to be seriously lifted last weekend, and the numbers look pretty ugly:

    https://www.google.com/search?q=arizona+cv-19+cases&rlz=1CACCBQ_enUS897US897&oq=arizona+cv-19+cases&aqs=chrome..69i57.3460j1j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

My GP (who has been very active during this emergency) reckons that the excess deaths are not so much hidden COVID, as old(er) people not going to the hospital for fear of COVID.

Given she has been signing death certificates...

Looking at the positive aspects in isolation the Tories win on:

    More In Touch than Labour
    More Trustworthy than Labour.
More Trying to do the right thing than Labour
    More Strong than Labour
    More Competent than Labour.

Looking at the positive aspects in isolation Labour win on:
More Cares about ordinary people than the Tories.
Not by much though, and quite some momentum. Downwards momentum for the Tories on most descriptors.

Unsurprising after a bad news week. This too shall pass, the news agenda has already moved on now.

Still, quite incredible that the Tories are still more in touch and more trustworthy.

"I can't understand what America has done to deserve a President so awful."

    Er, voted for him?
In all fairness, a majority of Americans voted against him. Pretty sickening really that three million more voted for his opponent yet they get the blame for his presidency anyway. The Electoral College is an utterly stupid system.

Why the swing back to the Tories?

The Tories were over 50% with most pollsters a few weeks ago so they've still taken a bit of a hit compared to that.

Why then are the excess deaths strongly correlated with the covid deaths geographically? They are not occurring evenly, though the lockdown is applied evenly.

    Yes that’s filthy. Horrible behaviour.

But you have been overly fond of using that epithet for people who are bending lockdown rules, so you can understand why people think you are crying wolf.
I've felt obliged to play to the gallery.

The problem I tend to have is that people take me seriously when I'm trolling and think I'm trolling when I'm being serious.
