I know that Karen Bradley is not the smartest cookie, but she surely hasn't just removed the rights of hundreds of thousands of people in Northern Ireland to participate in any future border poll or rerun of the EU referendum. If she has, it is not only explosively anti-democratic, but also profoundly and dangerously provocative.

I don't think giving an incorrect answer changes the law/regulations.

A question eI asked twice the other night and only @Cyclefree managed a reply

If the result is overturned, what will those in charge do to make the lives of the 52% minority better?
If the result is sustained, then what will those in charge do to make everyones lives better?

This is why the PD matters.

And you didn't even grab the first. Very noble of you.

Thank you. That is what I feared. My brother - nine years older than me.
So sorry to hear that. My father succumbed to oesophagal cancer; you have my deepest sympathy, it is a hard thing to see a loved one suffer from.

She surely doesn't have the power to do that. She's just made a stupid mistake.

There are still a few firsts available on the new thread to be bagged by the look of it.

    Well why not start now.

How does Rotherham benefit from thousands of Eastern European Roma moving there ?

I think the obvious answer is the right one there. It doesn't. I think these issues are real and not at all trivial.

Apparently the Home office has already removed the words European union from the front page of all new passports being issued even though we haven’t left yet. They assumed we would leave on 29 March.

Some Guardian readers are very upset as they wanted an EU momento before the new blue passports come in. Susan Hindle Barone is outraged and feels absolutely sick about it!

As it happens, my new (replacement) passport arrived today and I can report it is burgundy with "EUROPEAN UNION" right at the top of the front cover, above "UNITED KINGDOM OF..." It is quite fancy inside with lots of pictures and security stuff. I will treasure it.

Oh well, guess we can’t revoke now. It’s done.

They will agree an extension in the end after making us sweat until Wednesday night

    Well done you listened.

Now it strikes me that the people who extol the benefits of FOM have a tendency to live in upper-middle class safe havens and are thereby protected from the socioeconomic downsides FOM can bring.

    It is just badly worded.

Irish referenda are normally used to amend the Irish constitution so have a more formal status than our advisory ones. But it is odd that referendum voting rights aren’t reciprocal although general elections voting rights are. We don’t elect the UK head of state so denying UK nationals a Presidential vote in Ireland is fair enough.

    Railway Nationalisation?
    That's only the start, comrade!
