I always thought it was a shame all those people that lost their houses in 1992 as a direct result of Major's ERM madness didn't sue him and the Tory Party... Maybe it's not too late?

Sadly it's all true. Notice how the Zoomers squeal like stuck pigs every time it is mentioned.

Even some of the Numpties that voted for it are now beginning to notice how ineffably awful an idea it is.
Why did the 'Ruth Davidson for 2nd best' party abstain on such ineffably awful legislation?

I think you should pronounce it the way his father wanted it pronounced. The son clearly would prefer it pronounced as “Gloroius Leader"

I'd say one in three is about right.
I have 47% of the LEAVE (100%) coming from UKIP, 33% from Cons, 13% Lab, resulting in a 54% LEAVE 46% REMAIN result. Overall 58% turnout.
If only I could believe my guesstimated spreadsheet!

Right now Labour would welcome coverage being diverted to one of its former MEPs who had just been convicted of fraud.

The Standard has run a lot of articles sympathetic to Sadiq in the last few months, as well as some very critical ones. They are actually fairly even-handed overall, I'd say.

They did launch a half-hearted attack on him a couple of weeks ago, but then it emerged that Goldsmith had met a lot of the people they were criticising Khan for having met. Compared to the last two mayoral elections the Standard is far more even-handed: different editor and owner, I think.

Again, so no evidence of Cameron wanting us be in a political union with Turkey.

Thanks for clearing that up, more evidence Farage was talking bollocks and engaging in Project Fear.
The EU will be political union. It's only TPDs like you who try to deny the fact.

You have become the very thing you hated.

So you make UKIP over a quarter of the electorate on a 58% turnout?
  • The fact that we have one group of voters (UKIP) going 99% for LEAVE and with a probable turnout level of 80%+ Gives a massive block of voters, if UKIP does now represent 18% to 20% of all voters. Projections that predict LEAVE being as low as 40%, look for the birds if turnout is well under 70%.

It's a perfectly sensible point. Sovereignty is not either/or but a spectrum. Seeking to move further from sharing sovereignty has downsides as well as upsides, as North Korea helpfully demonstrates.

Yes due to turnout motivations. They do not have many flaky lefty and younger voters that cannot be ars**d to vote.

    Leave's Project Fear in action.
It's a fact that David Cameron wants Turkey to join the EU and that this would leave to c.75 million having free movement rights to the UK.

In practice it will never happen, for reasons Robert has pointed out many times, because multiple countries will veto it. But it is valid for Leave to point this out as it's declared policy of the U.K. Government.

I think Cameron's cost-free countermove is obvious: he can (like France) offer another referendum in the future if Turkey looks likely to join. Which will never be called because it will never need to be, but might get some votes back to Remain.

Vote Leave should be prepared for this.

Different candidates, more likely. Sadiq Khan is not Ken Livingstone, thank goodness. And Zac is not Boris, unfortunately.

If Aunty gets her act together and reports the Marie Rimmer court case, the front page will have Labour politicians expelled for anti-Semitism, jailed for fraud and another for physically assaulting an OAP. - Just saying
  • Cameron shouldn't welcome John " Black Wednesday " Major's support. Somethings are better forgotten.
No, the mindset at Number 10 & 11 is that any person from the Conservatives advocating REMAIN is an asset.....

They think that half the REMAIN voters are going to come from the Conservatives. Oh dear. Something that is probably a mathematical impossibility unless turnout is under 50% and REMAIN will be f***d if that happens by the kipper wedge.

When do we get to cover the main event? The police and crime commissioners election is buzzing up and down the country. It's on a knife edge. Will I get off my arse and vote or stay at home for the first time ever?

I'd vote, personally. I know it's a pointless, overly political post whose sole benefit - you can kick them out if they do a poor job - is not even true (since most areas will vote for whatever party they always vote for - we can hope independents manage to hold on this time), but even so, it is a vote.

I may spoil my ballot, though.

Now come back and show me where Cameron has said he wants us to be in a political union with Turkey.

Since tax is collected on profits and little of the North Sea is profitable below $60, I wouldn't break out the bunting yet.

Just be cheered your compatriots could spot a pig in a poke when offered one.....
North Sea Oil corporation tax is ring fenced so a lot of normal business deductions are not available on the income.

Labour are not and have not been left wing for a long time. They are all for filling their own pockets at anyone else's expense for sure. Hopefully the absolutely useless despised and hated Tories beat them for second and put the last nail in their coffin. SNP being a centre party is what most people want, not nutty left wingers or the greedy grasping odious right wing Tories.

This cannot be correct, can it?

As of August 1, every child in Scotland from birth to 18 will have a 'named person' who is responsible for their 'well being'. That person can access the child's medical records and those of their family without permission from the family and share information with other agencies without permission from the parents.
From conception to school age, the named person will be a health visitor, from 5 to 18 it will be a head teacher or other senior teacher - except at weekends and during school holidays when it will be a council employee.
Children can be interviewed without the permission of their parents but any notes will not be made available to parents to protect the confidentiality of the child.

    FFS

If true that is really quite worrying.
