It’s insane how willing people are to be taken in by what took me 5 minutes tops was a Russian Bot. And the thing is, it’s success is being played out in real time on this board and on Twitter.
I am persuaded - by you - that this is a fake

But at first glance, I believed it, because it is beautifully judged. See the 700 Scot Nat and Alba supporters who follow her. They have also been fooled

So, the question is: who, how and why?

Is it some computer algorithm in Moscow, or it some smart Yoon guy in the Borders having a laugh at the Nats' expense? or maybe it is MI6 black ops?!
I don’t think that anyone in this country would write about anti-socialist leanings of the TV show “Pesky Blinders” or advise someone to “do learnings about racism”. I think it’s someone in a building in St Petersburg.
    I dunno. Maybe it's a triple bluff.

Ms Calista knows her UK/Scots politics extremely well, and is highly articulate in English. Would "she" really make a dumb mistake like "Pesky Blinders" or "leanings about racism"?

I am doubtful. So my guess is this is an MI6 dude pretending to be a Russian bot pretending to be a mad Nat, to discredit the Nat cause with plausible deniability if unmasked

She makes the occasional rudimentary error that even other Nats pick her up on. For example -

You see, that is highly literate English writing, and it sounds like an educated and engaged mother-tongue English speaker. I do not believe the same person would then write "learnings about racism"

So either there are several people operating this account - explaining its rather uneven quality - or it is someone having a very sophisticated laugh

Last night I asked in the pub I was drinking in - yet another place that says, when they are busy, the table ordering actually reduces the load. Large pub, with a big garden with lots of tables - inside and out.

They had crew behind the bar making the drinks from the ordering system, and a small number of waiters/waitresses delivering them.

The staff said they liked it. The difference from pre COVID was using the food ordering system to order drinks, plus the app/qr code system to make it direct from the customers...

It's the system that was being operated by Norwegian airlines, before Covid, and it is super efficient. The air stewardesses know exactly who to serve and in what order and when, in the most practical, ergonomic way. You get a G&T within 30 seconds. So much better than waiting 1 hour for the rattling trolley to finally make its way to your seat, by which time they've run out of fucking gin

My guess is the difference is a) there is an economy of scale and b) some venues have probably got the efficiency sorted a lot better than others.

Probably one of those landlords who has 2 people behind the bar, 300 people trying to get a drink, and thinks that is good.....

At the place I was at, the staff said that they had noticed a marked increase in the order rate per head - that x number of people were spending more money per hour (or whatever) with the table ordering.

I suppose getting another round without leaving the conversation vs standing in the shoving match at the bar for half an hour....

Yes - the place was notable for having had table service and done alot with food pre-COVID. So all they had to do was extend their methodology....

I should imagine that pubs that haven't are on a learning curve.

Sneak preview from tonight's Opinium poll.

I was assured on here people hate ordering at the table.

Now ask them the same, but mention first that price of a pint has to go up to pay for the waiting staff.
Fake news, I spoke to a bar manager recently and he said it is more efficient and cheaper than at the bar service.

Avoids less aggro and things like spillages.
Well a pub landlord was on the radio yesterday and said they need 3x the staff to achieve this when it is busy e.g. the footy is on.

My preferred local did table service anyway pre-plague. Covid will probably encourage the idea of tipping just for having drinks served which is a good thing unless one thinks it a ghastly Americanisation.

This also looks like a Russian bot pretending to be a ScotNat

Do we know how that paper is funded? With a circulation of under 7000 and hardly any net subscribers, it should be bankrupt, even if most of its content is ripped off from unpaid amateurs.
It's published by a notoriously Unionist firm who had to do something when their main rag went all hard on Britnat.

Not least in the ignorance of actual history. About as balanced as Evelyn Waugh's Sword of Honour trilogy.
She is convincing, however - most of us here were fooled at first. Because the Nats ARE often mad

And check her followers, she has 670 of them, nearly all Scot Nats, following this Fake account
Great to have an authority on what is a convincing fake online identity.
There's somethijng not right. If she's Scottish then she must be a recent incomer. The language is just not right.

Not to me. I can't put my finger on it, but people do vary.

I'd see that as quite clunky English.

As eg some Germans or Russians seem to be too carefully idiomatic, using eg an older expression such as "I am in two minds" a little too deliberately.

@TheScreamingEagles ordering at the table is a million times better. For one, you can peruse the whole menu at your leisure.

Also you don’t have to get up. ;)

Or old. I’ve now lived here 20+ years and now am apparently entitled to a seat.
