There seems to be a widespread assumption in the betting that should Joe Biden not be running for the 2024 nomination then Kamala Harris will almost automatically be the chosen one.

But I just don't see it. Sitting VPs get such an enormous head-start.
1968 they even fiddled the election to let Humphrey take the nomination.
All threads for the next 8 days should focus on his life and achievements, and the steadfast service he gave to the nation. For diversity, we could have some that focus on his more lovable gaffes about "slitty eyes", so the lefties and BAMEs don't get too upset by the endless solemnity
At least one thread a day must be simply a photo of him - in uniform, on a horse, staring down a cleavage, etc
Come on PB, this is obvious
Humphrey and Nixon always had a good personal relationship and both loathed McGovern

That's no disrespect to Philip or the BBC's continuous Philip programming - many people will watch a bit of it but I doubt many will want endless hours of the same stuff being repeated on loop.
People will vote with their feet. Of course the BBC does many good things but people are losing interest - as there are more and more tailored services serving people's wishes much better.
Everyone on here is very interested in politics - I suspect even 5 years ago and certainly 10 years ago most would have watched all the BBC's political programmes regularly. But many now say they've just given up and abandoned them.
And similar is happening across many other genres.
Again, this seems like the bare minimum to me. FFS he has been taken
I wonder which one Dura Ace would choose?
(noting that official advice is not to drink alcohol at all for several days after)
He'll wait his turn.
He and Ossoff will duke it out in about 30 years.

Is anyone offering odds on when Queen Elizabeth II starts dating again? Also, which dating app do people think she is likely to use?
She’s on it already...

As for the duration, likely the time before the funeral.
I do understand that not everyone feels quite as desolated by this, and might want to talk, occasionally, if disagreeably, about something other than the late Prince Philip's incredible life of duty and sacrifice, but if you DO make a comment that disrespectfully talks about something else, then it will only be visible to you.
This seems like a judicious balance

It’ll be a real change

I have a few quid on just in case.
Best visited slightly out of season, early in the morning or at sunset and dusk, too, I would say.
(Ducks).
The simplicity. Grilled fish, white wine, blue sea, Greek salad, burning sun
At Australian customs the Duke was told he'd be asked the same questions as anyone else. Asked if he had a criminal record, he replied, "I had no idea it was still a requirement."
(And gets to appear on TV making Fox presenters look ridiculous when they try to attack the plan.)
Harris, immigration.

Alas the nurse practitioner was not in today so I won't know until Monday.
Meanwhile Son was given the day off today because of the news. He said it was quite weird walking round a largely empty London with all these photos of Philip in uniform and medals.
There is a short story in his experiences so far - something Russian - perhaps like in Gogol - of a man's pointless wandering around a deserted locked down city while solemn music is played.
Or maybe Alan Bennett-ish: commenting on urban mundanities and how common or otherwise people's front doors are.
They are the ones continuously stoking it. They've grabbed our jabs, they are now motoring ahead, yet still they want to revisit this argument?
Even in this piece he is quoted as claiming that the UK has had full promised AZ deliveries. He's also making "would have been better rollout than the UK if AZ had met their commitments" noises. Like all the others, he seems to have assumed that Q2 will be perfect in terms of deliveries, and to have missed out the extra month for distribution and development of immunity.
Covering his backside, like all the others. Liar.
And modelling the new EU principle of pissing on the law.
The matter came to light in a report by the public broadcaster NRK, which triggered a police investigation.
The two-term leader has apologised several times for organising the event for her 60th birthday with 13 relatives at a mountain resort in late February, despite a government ban on gatherings of more than 10 people.
If it's Biden and it looks like he will be there for all 4 years than Buttigieg will have a great chance.
If Harris is President then he will have to wait his turn.

Prince Charles apparently feels the same way, as he seemed to risk the brickbats that came his way for the only major royal visit overseas a few weeks ago during covid for the Greek independence day celebrations. He even talks about the place as part of his identity, which I think is because his very hellenised grandmother was living where he was living in his youth, at Phil's invitation, topically for today.
But I reckon he was; part of an “internationalist” generation, see also his work for WWF.
