If this is right, Corbyn has to resign immediately.

Along with the rest of the Shadow Cabinet.

    SNP 55!

    Means Swinson gone,
The LDs have lucked out, then.

The irony is that Tory Leave voters in East Dumbartonshire now may end up out of the UK and in the EU.

    360/201/42/21 not too far out.

I thought SNP would do well so should be some good constituency bets there, sadly including East Dunbartonshire.

Looks like Indy Scotland nailed on now.

    Good shout Foxy

Shame about the Lib Dems though - I would love to see them become the opposition - I could vote for them

You've got to hand it to Boris.

I was REALLY worried about tactical voting.

But those results in deep Labour-land are going to be horrific for them.

    Heh!

Not good. It implies intense bitterness between England and Scotland.
It means the Union probably won’t last.

What's amazing is that the Tories must have eaten quite a few losses in Scotland for the SNP to be on 55. Those have been made up _massively_ in England …... Sunderland Central anyone?

Remainer seats voted LAB LD SNP.
    Leaver seats voted CON.

    As simple as that.

    That 52/48 was very efficient.

Yes, the failure to co-operate between Liberals and Labour looked disastrous from the start. Corbyn and Swinson would share responsibility for that, if this is correct - and both be rapidly disappeared stage right.

I'm not totally surprised by the result except for the Scottish bit, which seems weird given all the polling we have seen.

Democracy in this country was nice while it lasted. It won’t be recognisable in five years’ time as such with this mob.

We’ve already seen this government launch a full frontal assault on democracy when it didn’t have a majority. Once it has full command of the levers, it will convert Britain into a Hungarian-style pseudo-democracy.
Well you live in Hungary so you've clearly no problem with that

Exit poll says LD lose all Scottish seats including Orkney.

In 2015 it was also predicted to fall as the only seat not falling to the SNP.

In terms de Gaulle would understand: we’ve chosen the open sea.

If this is right please for the good of us all can the Labour Party elect someone sensible now or half the MPs bugger off and set a new party up on masse.

That would be a real victory for all of us.

Well, they were riding high at the time. I`m hoping LDs get more than 13 seats (as predicted by exit poll). A crumb of comfort will be if the party achieves second place in many more constituencies to provide a platform from which to build.

If they had they'd have been competitive in 2022. Now they're uncompetitive, and waiting until 2024.
