if it was genuinely 59% and maintained that level, when would a second referendum become irresistible. Any Leave advocates/fans prepared to give a view?
I think Labour would be more likely to shift their stance. But it isn't at 59%, so a bit of a moot point.
and at what point would the opinion polls need to get to before it was democratically essential to have another referendum do you think? (theoretically at least?)
We won’t have a another referendum.
If we Rejoin it’ll be via a manifesto commitment to Rejoin.
A Sovereign Parliament and all that jazz.
that would be "brave"
Why do you hate democracy and the will of the people ?
I dont. I simply point out we now have a precedent in a referendum and it would be a brave government which ignored it.
It would be in the context of Brexit being a long term disaster.
We wouldn’t have time to fanny about with another referendum.
Why would 27 EU countries want to take on a basket case then ?
As an example and history repeating.
Plus as part of our ascension terms they’d ask us for a 999 year deal and if we wanted to Leave early our exit bill would be 10 trillion pounds and us to exit on WTO.
riiight
on the other hand when youre resident in Frankfurt none of this will concern you
I shall still be British. My heart will still beat and ache for this country.
I just saw Frankfurt out of a train window, a while back. A couple of hours further on the scenery is much better.
Is it time to consider how many possible outcomes there are over Brexit for, say, a year from now, and what the relative likelihoods are? I can think of these:
No WA, crash out, and obviously going badly No WA but going better than most thought No WA because we have somehow switched to remain No WA because the date of 29 March has been changed WA and transition till 2020, and a blind or fudged Brexit WA etc but some new associate status WA and Chequers WA and amended Chequers WA and Swiss deal WA and Norway deal WA and Canada (+ as many plusses as you want) WA and a unique, bespoke cake like deal (call it a 'Boris') WA and WTO WA and reapply to join during transition.
Apart from a new ice age, WW3 and being hit by a meteorite how many other possibles are there? And can we reckon on the chances?
Welcome good post some of those you could play via directional bets on the exchange rate at announcement.
Do the authorities in the UK know the real names of the Russians who carried out the attack ? I believe , I heard that the documents they were traveling on were false.
They were official Russian passports - but the police believe the identities are false.....how do you get a genuine Russian passport under a false identity?
I suspect our agencies would not know they were false , until after the event ?
They were back in Moscow before it was clear it was a nerve agent...
And had the time and means meanwhile to nip up to the International Space Station with a concealed micro drill....?

This is what Parliament would look like if only 18-24 year olds had the vote.
"This looks about right to me" - J. Corbyn
Essentially, the whole country would vote like Liverpool.
Perhaps the adage about people becoming more conservative as they get older is wrong. They just get less Liverpudlian.
I tend to agree with those who think the old left/right identities are becoming obsolete. It tends to be liberal/illiberal now with a worrying tendency for the latter to be nationalist and/or highly populist (as opposed to popular)

Historically, youngsters trended Tory as they got established in secure jobs, married and bought houses. Whether Generation Rent will do the same, who can know?
As for the Russians that is almost unbelievably bad tradecraft.
Which reinforces what Mr Ace said earlier - that they’ll be two junior and disposable operatives, rather than top Russian agents or people with knowledge of Novichok.

Oh dear, the usual crap. It is perfectly legitimate say that people make stupid decisions based on ignorance without necessarily saying they are all idiots. That kind of nonsense might worry politicians, but thankfully doesn't cut any ice here.
For the record I don't think all people who voted Brexit are thick. there will be a large number who are. There may even be some people who voted Remain who may not be that clever.
However, anyone who thinks that Brexit is more important than avoiding the Anti-Semite Corbyn become PM has clearly not been born with much intelligence at all, or they have been lobotomised.
I suspect the transcript will not show what Mr Kinnock said...usually these things are boiled down to bland platitudes....and Barnier tweeted that he was looking forward to working with Raab tomorrow finding common ground between the EU and Chequers.....a couple of hours ago...

No they just respect democracy and believe the future of our national sovereignty is more important even than winning a general election against a socialist, country comes first. General election results can be reversed, loss of sovereignty is much harder to do hence the likes of Norway voted to stay out of the EEC/EU and would still do so today

Most of them will still inherit houses regardless and beyond London most have still bought a property by 40

It wouldn't surprise me if LD voters are most likely to stick with the party regardless of age. It would be interesting to see if the data confirms that hypothesis.

Not sure if already posted but all four Boundary Commissions (Eng, Scot, Wal and NI) have confirmed that they have submitted their final reports to the Government today.
Reports will not be published until they are laid before Parliament.

"As a journalist don’t you want to know who is doing all this digging? There has been an alliance from the Mail to the Guardian and the BBC to make the most of stories provided largely by Corbyn’s enemies in the Labour Party.
The aims are clear: protect Israel and undermine Corbyn. The Labour right, along with all the above, oppose his social and economic programme, his determination to base a foreign policy on International law and human rights and the general resurgence of the left that he represents." - Ken loach
The thought thar the guardian and mail have formed an alliance is as nuts as the Q stuff.
Dominic Raab possibly undershoots the low bar set by David Davis as Brexit Sec. When MPs in committee ask valid questions about what you are doing don't tell them to get a backbone and score partisan points. He's a, politician. Surely he can flannel? I'm taking the issue very seriously, blah, taking immediate steps, waffle, working hard for a good outcome and so on. Raab's just making himself and his enterprise look even more idiotic than they were in the first place.

In most of the UK outside of London and the South you can buy a house for under £200 000 on average, it is mainly the fact London is the biggest global city in Europe makes house prices so expensive there and to a lesser extent in the commuter belt home counties.
In the Midlands and North and Wales many have bought their first property by the time they are 30 and the Tories now win more seats and a higher voteshare there than in London when you add the fact the provinces are more pro Brexit than the Capital too
Meanwhile Raab says we need to be true to our commitment to the Northern Ireland backstop and he hopes it won't ever come into effect but if it does it should be for a "very finite short period".
We’re selling out the Orangemen.
Hurrah.
I'll update my image with the cup falling off the orange.
