politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » Round up of 65+ polling on the man 56% of his backers think is going to lead LAB to a GE victory
A few days ago I Tweeted a 65+ breakdown from a recent poll and found myself being attacked for highlighting a small sample subset with all the inherent possibilities for distortion. Fair enough.
On topic. If these figures are accurate at a general election a Jeremy Corbyn led Labour Party are going to get mullered like the Bulgars at the battle of Kleidion
Oh dear, looks like Fleet St. have all opened their files on Vaz. This isn't going to end well for him.
Why only now, eh? That's the question.
Indeed. More questions than answers so far, who's been protecting him? Is it that he's always been very quick to reach for his learned friends, and now the press have caught him red handed with something he can't deny?
Corbyn is one of the worst political speakers I have had the misfortune to hear, with a wooden delivery of interesting far left Labour history facts. Abbott was almost as bad, but thankfully her speech was comparatively brief. Both of them know how to reach out to the faithful, but appear to be incapable of appealing to floating voters. The Jezza rally was rather like a religious revivalist meeting of Methodists or CofE happy clappy Alpha Groupies. I made my excuses and left.

Or the Pakistanis in December 1971 the ODI tour of England 2016?
Never crossed my mind that the 65+ would identify with someone of their own generation. I guess they’ve seen it all before and know a snake oil merchant when they see one.
The Vaz story is going to run and run...normally it would be damaging for Labour - but in current circumstances it's nowt but a flesh wound...
I doubt the Vaz story would do much damage to Labour even in normal circusmtances.
He's just a very strange person. Always has been... Just one of those really "odd" characters that you find in politics in all parties. I would suspect it's kind of factored in with him that pretty much anything could come out about him at any time.
The other factor is that the over 65s have experience of left wing Labour in practice, unlike Corbyn's more youthful enthusiasts...

Not just the over 65s. I was 18 during the Winter of Discontent and those memories will never leave me.
I was a little younger, but rubbish piled 12ft high in the street next to my bus stop stuck. Ditto Save It! stickers above every lightswitch/power cuts/BBC and others off air a few yrs around same period.

His constituents will still vote him back in with a big mandate to boot.
Looks like Theresa is generally getting a bloody good finger wagging from the G20... From the back of the queue to the naughty step?
The Japanese remarks are aimed as much at the EU as the UK - per the document title. Similarly, the USA are making it clear that they want no shenanigans - they're pissed off with us and the Germans for making a mountainous fuck up out of a molehill.
I completely agree that they're picking on the new girl though .
Comrade Speedy, don't worry! I am sure Chairman Corbyn has another eminently suitable person in mind to occupy the seat that will surely be vacated by the unwanted Blairite, ex-Comrade Vaz.
Oh dear, looks like Fleet St. have all opened their files on Vaz. This isn't going to end well for him.
The story is a few months old.
I think I know why the story is breaking now and from the Mirror. Keith Vaz is on the N.E.C.
But the Mirror hate Corbyn.
So the next question is do Momentum have a strong presence in his constituency?
Assuming it is a religious part of Leicester the gay element may be unhelpful to him.
Edited to add:
The obvious source is the other attendees at the 'party' for cash. The Mirror may not be the obvious outlet, but they were reported as East European, so may not know our press and the leanings they have.

Vaz is a faction of his own though.
But the scandal is definitely a part of Labour's internal war, the N.E.C. was about to discuss reinstalling shadow cabinet elections in order to diminish Corbyn's authority to a minimum.
Since the balance of power on the N.E.C is very fine, with a Corbyn majority of 1 or 2, the Mirror getting rid of Keith Vaz may alter that fine balance.
Mr. Max, I'm intrigued to see how Honda do next year.
Yes, so am I. They seem to be getting their ducks in a row quite well, I'm hoping that all the engine manufacturers can be competitive with Mercedes and we'll get back to driver vs driver action rather than just engine power and tyre strategy deciding the races.
Trying to reproduce a certain Canadian race when the tyres went off the boil (and it was genuinely exciting) was always going to fail, and they've persisted with it for years.

I thought he was a Catholic from Goa - then read he's from Yemen. I'm sure he was the MP I profiled as a 'personality' for the BBC R5 Worricker Sunday prog 7-8 yrs ago.

He was born in Aden, Yemen in 1956, but his parents are from Goa. He moved to the UK in 1965
The Independent has a sense of humour – who knew..?
Someone will tell them to do a story on the plight of dead seagulls shortly - perhaps regurgitating oil covered tuna or deceased polar bears.
I can't recall the last time I looked at it. If I guessed it's brand values - I'd go for worthy, tutting, aspiring vegan - with added clickbait. That its fake frontpage gets coverage in the paper reviews is laughable.

Indeed. It's said that Honda have made a major change to their engine which puts it up with the Ferrri if not the Mercedes, but they can't use it because of the silly tokens rule. It's supposed to be a development formula, so let them get on and develop!

Is it naughty to ask if we can deport him back to his place of birth?

F1: setting about the post-race piece now. Somewhat interesting result. Mildly frustrating race.

I would like to hear from LEAVE canvassers across the U.K and compare it to Trump's. Was it better, worse?

Vaz was pretty much a swing vote on the N.E.C.
How did he vote on Iraq?
Is he left enough?
Is he tainted by Brownism and Blairism, and therefore a Tory?

Strictly Come Dancing's series launch got an average of 9.3 million viewers on Saturday night - a record audience for an opening episode of the show.
The audience peaked at 10.1 million as the BBC One show's 14th series began, with celebrities and professional dancers meeting for the first time.
