@BuzzFeedUKPol: SNP MP Blasts Jeremy Corbyn For Drinking Irn Bru “With A Silly Grin” https://t.co/5c2f1ZWKcR https://t.co/jGwUWz9lkn

What is the officially approved facial expression for drinking Irn Bru, I wonder? I think it's delicious so I probably tend towards some kind of grin (silly or otherwise) myself. :)

Imagine the SNP reaction if he had also eat a Tunnock's Teacake as well.....
    Or consume Buckfast.
Another cretinous halfwit, bet you run about in pantaloons clacking two sticks together like a demented loon for a hobby
    That sounds quite fun!!

Surely, in SNP's Scotland, Irn Bru has to be drunk from a communion cup to afford it due deference? With a Tunnock's wafer to follow.....
Dear dear, the absolute loons are out and about now , must be nurse's tea break

Why would they jeopardise the boundary review?

After all we are still working on the basis of the 2001 census (until 2018 I believe)
    Charles

The position is slightly worse, as the current boundaries are based on the electoral registers as at 17 February 2000. There is no linkage in the UK to the census as the constituencies are based on eligible registered voters rather than population.

The next review is about to start this spring and will be based on the December 2015 electoral registers; hence the fuss Labour has been making on individual registration and the reduction in registered voters in their urban heartland.
Sure, but the current set up favours Labour, so it is in no way wrong.

You have to remember the rule that "Labour benefits" = good while "removal of bias" = gerrymandering.

The Tories got over 50% of the seats on 37% of the vote last May. The changes they are introducing will increase the current bias in a system that already works in their favour. Let's not pretend that fairness has anything to do with it.

The Tories plus UKIP plus NI Unionists got over 50% of seats on over 50% of the vote.

I am no fan of Jeremy Corbyn, but IronBrugate (and baconsandwichgate with Ed Miliband) were ridiculous!!

Certainly agree with you there. Hard to see what they see in the sugary water promoted by some stupid adverts, never tried it and never will. Suits the Scottish cliches for some of the less clever on here. Their limit is buckfast , Irn Bru and Tunnocks Teacakes, that is really pathetic.

    Probably.

South Sudan is a multilingual country, with over 60 indigenous languages spoken. The official language of the country is English,[1] which was introduced in the region during the colonial era (see Anglo-Egyptian Sudan).

The indigenous languages with the most speakers are Dinka, Nuer, Bari and Zande. In the capital city of Juba, an Arabic pidgin known as Juba Arabic is used by several thousand people.

I suppose a picture of her as LOTO campaigning for Remain counts for nothing :-)

At least she got one thing right! She also signed the Single European Act in 1986 to further integrate the UK and Europe and increase the power of the European Parliament.

She went a bit dotty in her old age of course, but when at the height of her powers cemented our place in the Single Market, including the 4 freedoms.

This seems a flawed campaigning tactic. People understand the difference between elections. Khan getting the mayoralty really has nothing to do with whether you'd let Corbyn take charge of national defence or McDonnell in charge of the economy.

The charge Khan is left wing (and left wing by association) seems incredibly weak as a way to motivate voters. Londoners don't really give a damn - they voted for Livingstone as an Independent and later as Labour mayor in full knowledge he was a lefty... and then they voted Bozza knowing he was well to the right. The labels mean relatively little in the context of the particular job.

Tories should be focusing on changing the perception of Goldsmith as a bland pretty-boy with a sense of entitlement rather than trying to paint Khan as a bogeyman - which isn't terribly realistic anyway.

Mr. Chairman, you have invited me to speak on the subject of Britain and Europe. Perhaps I should congratulate you on your courage. If you believe some of the things said and written about my views on Europe, it must seem rather like inviting Genghis Khan to speak on the virtues of peaceful coexistence! ...The European Community is one manifestation of that European identity, but it is not the only one. We must never forget that east of the Iron Curtain, peoples who once enjoyed a full share of European culture, freedom and identity have been cut off from their roots. We shall always look on Warsaw, Prague and Budapest as great European cities...To try to suppress nationhood and concentrate power at the centre of a European conglomerate would be highly damaging and would jeopardise the objectives we seek to achieve. Europe will be stronger precisely because it has France as France, Spain as Spain, Britain as Britain, each with its own customs, traditions and identity. It would be folly to try to fit them into some sort of identikit European personality...it is ironic that just when those countries such as the Soviet Union, which have tried to run everything from the centre, are learning that success depends on dispersing power and decisions away from the centre, there are some in the Community who seem to want to move in the opposite direction. We have not successfully rolled back the frontiers of the state in Britain, only to see them re-imposed at a European level with a European super-state exercising a new dominance from Brussels.

A few weeks ago, I saw some footage from an old Tory Party Conference from the 1980s, where they were actually flying the EEC/EU flag on stage right next to the British flag.

It really is bizarre how upside-down both parties' stances have flipped in the past 30 years.

After last night's debate the odds will now shift towards a Trump nomination and most likely a Hillary presidency. I have always felt that Rubio was a VP contendor but last night's performance suggests he was never really a presidential nominee, anyway, we shall see. The comparisons with Quayle and Stockdale were apt

    Hmmm:
The poll also showed that Sanders, who is from neighboring Vermont, leads Clinton, 50 percent to 41 percent, with 8 percent undecided. The key factor contributing to Sanders’ lead over Clinton is his advantage among independent voters, who favor him over Clinton, 57 percent to 30 percent. Sanders also leads among men, 59 percent to 30 percent, and in the areas along the Vermont state line, 60 percent to 32 percent.
I will admit those figures surprise me somewhat. However, if Clinton can't shake Sanders off and all the while is dogged by the noises off, shouldn't the Republican nominee, even Trump, be considered the favourite (God help us all)?

Rubio keeps digging, complete with video:

    http://www.mediaite.com/online/marco-rubio-responds-to-repetition-criticism-by-repeating-himself-3-more-times/

"On Sunday morning, Rubio returned to the scene of the crime, ABC News, and This Week host George Stephanopoulos led off the interview by asking Rubio “What went wrong” to make Rubio go back to that rehearsed phrase so many times.

Rubio took an interesting tack with Stephanopoulos, defending his repetition of the talking point by repeating it three more times"

I told you that Rubio was an empty suit that would be creamed by Hillary.
Rubio has literally only one thing to say on every subject.

"Senator Rubio, what's your opinion about pizza?"

"Obama knows exactly what he is doing"

It is frequently said to be unthinkable that Britain should leave the European Union. But the avoidance of thought about this is a poor substitute for judgement.....

the blunt truth is that the rest of the European Union needs us more than we need them....

It remains for the non-European world, above all America, to try to reduce the harm the new Europe is set to do - and then when the folly falls, as through lack of common interests it finally will, to help pick up the bits.

Mrs T thought referenda the tool of tyrants and demagogues

She campaigned actively for Remain in the 1975 referendum.

In 1983 Labour stood on an EU withdrawal manifesto. She campaigned for remaining in. She could easily have passed a Leave bill if she wanted, with cross party support.

Shortly before the 1987 election she signed the Single European Act that she had helped negotiate.

Even after her Bruges speech, she was a critic of the EU but not a BOOer.

Indeed she, like every Tory leader since the very beginning of the EU wanted to stay in, albeit with certain reforms. Her position was much the same as Cameron and Osborne now.

    :-)

Malcolm, I assure you nobody on PB is as useless as Kevin O'Connor. He has been in charge of the SLC repayments system for 24 years and has never yet managed to get it to work. Indeed, he is so useless that the Student Loan Company felt obliged to promote him two years ago.

He has earned the personal soubriquet of 'Kevin O'Cockup' and the company as a whole the nickname the 'Stupid Loan Company' - both of which are unfair to cockups and stupid people.

The ST reports how No 10 has developed close relationships with Rubio. The Florida Senator was guest of honour at a 2013 private dinner hosted by Cameron's director of strategy, Ameet Gill and Michael Gove and a Rubio adviser met Gill, Gove and others for dinner at the Garrick club last month. They are said to believe Rubio needed a third place in Iowa and a strong second in NH to get the nomination so he may well not be dead yet (his rallies are getting big crowds today https://mobile.twitter.com/Norsu2/status/696373109146910720/photo/1

IDS met Cruz last year but the Cameron circle has no links with the Texan and no senior Tories have links with Trump. Jeb Bush and Christie met Cameron, Gill, Gove, Johnson and Osborne when they visited London in Nov 2014 and Jan 2015. Ed Llewellyn, Cameron's chief of staff, has links with Hillary's team but she is also friendly with David Miliband and Labour, though presumably Corbynistas prefer Sanders as suggested by Ken Livingstone

I see the banner says "Radical Youth for Europe". Is it Corbyn in disguise.

Happy Birthday Nick and Cyclefree, and best wishes.
"What we should grasp, however, from the lessons of European history is that, first, there is nothing necessarily benevolent about programmes of European integration; second, the desire to achieve grand utopian plans often poses a grave threat to freedom; and third, European unity has been tried before, and the outcome was far from happy."
You can pick and choose your Maggie quotes: "I dream of a day when I might board a train at Victoria, and alight in Paris, and need not carry a passport." makes her sound like a fully paid up supporter of Schengen
....whereas she was just showing she hadn't given up all thought of one day claiming France for Her Majesty.....
Good point: she said "I", not "anyone"

Would be fascinating to see which were the most prominent words in your wordcloud.
In relation to the slavering dross on here , cretins would have to be the most numerous even though I under use it.
Surely it would be 'turnip' by a short head from 'lol', then 'cretins'.

In my correspondence with the Student Loan Company I must confess that the third one would be most common, but Kevin O'Connor, the man who memorably did not realise that July was the month before August and then sent me a letter full of spelling mistakes, might technically be considered Irish.

Ydoethur, you may well be right. Mr O'Connor must have many relatives posting on pb.
    An Ulsterman, no doubt.

Sanders is a bit to the Right for Corbyn, isn't he?

It shows Cameron's usual talent spotting ability. I hold not the slightest brief for Trump, but the the sight of the British Prime Minister treading as close as he dare to being rude to the man who will probably get the nomination, and is one email server away from the presidency seems to show, how can we put this charitably, rather poor judgement.

Hillary will lose NH but will beat Sanders in South Carolina. The RCP average has Rubio beating Clinton by 5% but Clinton beating Trump by 4%. Anything that harms Rubio therefore helps Hillary

Well I suppose he did get round the table after "acting in a reckless and provocative manner"

Agree but after Iowa you seemed to be having another panic and shifting towards Rubio to be the nominee, I always felt his third place in Iowa was overrated

I know that, Sunil. My point, such that there is one, is that anyone who was in the public eye for fifty years is going to have said enough that anyone can find something to back up their opinion.

In all seriousness, since in that article the CPS appear to have claimed there was hard evidence against him - a claim that is clearly false - a good lawyer could undoubtedly have the spokesman and potentially Saunders as his manager for defamation, and potentially malicious defamation at that (in the anger of losing the case and looking like a bunch of self-satisfied pompous morons).
