much more interesting questions and answers. But not Prime Ministerial in a million years
I think this is the key takeaway - and the main reason why a head to head debate was never going to happen. After tonight, we still know who is the PM, and who, to borrow a phrase from a fellow PBer, will never be PM.
Only watched Miliband for 20 seconds - he's already lost because of the tone and tenor of his voice. He's whining.
He's getting the gestures correct. But his tone, manner and words are not. He's like a lecturer talking to students who need to be educated.
Maybe that is how he sees it?
Therein lies the problem.
I kind of disagree. Politics used to be about having your own ideas and visions and trying to get the voters to buy into them. Now it's about convincing a large enough chunk of the electorate that you're on their side.
Has Ed been briefed to smile more? He's better looking than me, so I make no judgement on how he looks while doing it, but it is coming across a little like a coached action.
Why is this SO much harder for Miliband? Weird. Still won't shift votes.
It's on Sky isn't it? Who owns that? Do I have to spell it out!
Indeed. Just like Paxo soft-balling Cameron because he's a Tory or the BBC being biased towards the conservatives because their political editor used to be a Tory.
Ooooh, just when I was about to say a goodish performance from Ed, he comes up with a nasty little comment about councils cutting services because of Tory cuts. It is not that easy Ed, why not commit to cut chief executive council pay to lower than the PMs...

No issue with that. I just think Miliband comes across as patronising and condescending.
That was the most ridiculous biased nonsense from Burley. She reduced the audience questions by at least 5 minutes to set Miliband up with easy answers "oh you're a socialist" WTF. And seems she knew exactly who to ask to give Miliband an easy time while disguising the whole thing with one hard question on his brother. Not a single question on Labour lies about funding.

David got questions about respect for the disabled and shredded wheat

At least they were audience questions and not Burley teeing Miliband up to knock it out the park.

Has it ever occurred to you that if you're the only one asking a question, you may be a little blinkered?
Ed coming out quick in the Paxo session, refusing to engage and flatly admitting the biggest hurdle in an attempt to shut it down and not drag it out, interesting tactic.

Can we have less of the B-word please. It makes me come out in a rash.
Ouch! We benefit from diversity? So this country was rubbish when it was almost completely white and British born?
British born to Irish, Jewish, Italian, Huguenot, German, Polish, etc., etc.
Fair point - but what I'm getting at is that this notion that diversity - and let's not be coy here, he's talking about outside of Europe - necessarily makes a place better. Maybe it does, but then maybe it doesn't.

So far better than expected.
The clip of him talking to Gordo in the HoC today will be appearing in Tory campaign ads any day now
Still, those teeth. Did he get them from Shergar?
Now let's see if he can survive Trial By Paxman!
Thought he came across as a pretty straight kind of guy.
Ummm
Still doesn't look like a potential PM though.
You should have told the "right wingnuts" on here that, three weeks later and they still hadn't stopped.
EDIT: so far...
They have Cameron as doing well, Miliband as crap. Quote like "FairyTales" from Miliband vs "respect" for Cameron.
Are they just surveying employees of CCHQ?
blinkered?
That is the soundbite of the night
He answers every single question from the Left.
A very difficult strategy.
Paxman is excellent.
So Miliband didn’t fall over and accidentally kick himself in the face, which means he’s already ahead.
Maybe spoke too soon there...
